Encon Associates was conceived and registered in 1983 as a consulting engineering firm, in the specialized areas of Civil/Structural Engineering and Project Management. The name EN-CON is simply derived from “Engineering Consultancy”. Encon Associates is already Twenty-Five (25) years old in existence and now on the springboard of a new decade. The vision and focus of the founding partners at ince
ption was to enhance the pool of reputable foreign and indigenous consulting engineering firms operating in the country. That dream has not only been largely achieved, but Encon Associates has carved a niche for itself with a strong footing in the industry. The founding Partners, Engr. Abiyou (ABU, Zaria 1977) and Engr. Anthony Weyinmi Omatsone (UNILAG, 1977) first met as Youth Corpers in Ibadan, Nigeria in 1977. Ultimately, Yolas Consultants became a veritable professional training ground for both engineers, from Project Engineers to Associate Partners under the supervision of Engr. Sagaya. Encon Associates started with two Partners, one engineer, three draftsmen and one administrative/secretarial staff in 1986/1987. Encon Associates has grown to its Current position of 35 professional engineers and about 60 other technical/administrative and non- professional staff. Presently, there are three (3) full-fledged, well-equipped offices with modern facilities located in Port-Harcourt, Asaba, and Headquarters in Ilorin. There are also contact offices located in Abuja, Lagos, Calabar, Bayelsa, and Uyo. Each operational office is manned by a professional engineer of the level of a Principal Partner or an Associate/Junior Partner. In the 25 years and counting of Encon Associates existence, the firm has had the unique privilege and opportunity to have rendered diverse and challenging Civil/Structural professional engineering and project management services to various clients across the country. For over two decades, Encon Associates has been constantly engaged by various State Government in the Niger Delta and other Agencies and Commissions of the Federal Government to address the infrastructural set-back in the region. Presently, Encon Associates is being positioned to face the challenges of the next decade and global trend in the consulting engineering industry. It is, therefore, Encon Associates policy to train and equip future engineers with modern and management tools to be able to compete favorably with similar consulting firms nationally and globally, in the provision of sustainable infrastructure.
