CHAPTER 47&48

ERLING’S MANSION — MORNING

The sun was bright, but inside Erling’s mansion, it felt heavy.
Crystal sat at the breakfast table, slowly stirring her tea even though it had gone cold.

Erling walked in, wearing a crisp black shirt, his hair slightly messy. He stopped when he saw her.
“You’re up early,” he said, voice low.

“I couldn’t sleep,” she replied without looking up.

He walked closer, his gaze scanning her face like he was searching for an answer she wouldn’t give.
“You look pale. Did something happen yesterday?”

She forced a small smile. “Nothing happened, Erling. I just
 feel tired.”

He reached out, his hand brushing her cheek. “You know I can tell when you’re lying.”

Her chest tightened. “I’m not lying.”

For a moment, they just stared at each other, the silence louder than their words. Then he stepped back.
“I have a meeting later. Stay home, and don’t wander off again.”

She nodded, pretending not to notice the suspicion in his eyes.

---

SCHOOL — LATE MORNING

Lily walked through the hallway, books in hand, her face unreadable. Frankie spotted her from the other side and quickly moved toward her.
“Lily—”

She didn’t stop walking. “Oh, the famous player speaks.”

He sighed, falling into step beside her. “It wasn’t like that. At first, maybe
 but I wasn’t—”

“You weren’t what? Planning to make me a joke? Or planning to win your stupid bet?” she snapped, eyes still forward.

“Lily, please. I care about you now. I—”

“Save it,” she said, stopping just before entering class. “You can’t just switch from a game to feelings and expect me to clap for you.”

Before he could reply, she walked in, leaving him standing in the hallway with his jaw clenched.

---

OUTSIDE THE LIBRARY — SAME TIME

Phoebe sat on the bench, scrolling through her phone. Prince walked by, glancing at her.
She looked up. “You’re really not going to say hi?”

He paused, smirking faintly. “Didn’t know we were talking again.”

“We’re not,” she said quickly. Then, softer, “But maybe
 we could.”

His smirk faded into something almost serious. “We’ll see.”
He walked away, and she found herself watching him longer than she meant to.

___

ERLING’S OFFICE — LATER THAT DAY

The study was quiet. Crystal stood near Erling’s desk, her hands shaking slightly as she held a small flash drive.
The Ghost Twins’ words echoed in her head: Do this, or Lily dies.

She plugged the drive into his laptop.
Her heart pounded so loud, she almost didn’t hear the sound of the door opening.

“Crystal?”

She froze.
Erling stepped inside, his eyes narrowing instantly. “What are you doing in here?”

Her mind raced. “I was
 looking for you.”

“When did you walk in?” His voice was calm, but his stare was sharp.

She forced a laugh, stepping away from the desk. “A while ago, I was told you're on a meeting. And home is bored.”

He glanced at the laptop, then back at her. “Oh what about your friend, you should have called her, but anyways I'm done with the meeting let's go have lunch.”

Crystal look at her phone and smile awkwardly, Emily just texted, I guess I will be leaving.

See you at home then, he said.

She nodded quickly, walking past him, hiding the flash drive in her palm.
But as she left, she could feel his eyes burning into her back.

---

EMILY’S APARTMENT — AFTERNOON

Crystal sat cross-legged on Emily’s couch, holding a soda can in her hands.
Emily was beside her, chatting non-stop about some movie she watched.

“You should’ve seen the way he tripped on the dance floor,” Emily laughed. “His drink went flying!”

Crystal smiled faintly. “Sounds
 fun.”

“You sound far away today,” Emily said, tilting her head.

“I’m just
tired,” Crystal replied quickly, her voice low. “Go on, I’m listening.”

Emily kept talking about clothes, music, and silly things that would normally make Crystal laugh. But today, Crystal barely spoke—only nodding or giving small comments.

Emily noticed, but she didn’t push.

---

ERLING’S OFFICE — SAME TIME

Drake leaned against the wall, sipping coffee while Erling sat behind his desk, looking deep in thought.

“What’s on your mind?” Drake asked.

Erling hesitated, then said, “Crystal.”

Drake raised an eyebrow. “What about her?”

“She’s
different. Avoiding my eyes. Slipping away when she thinks I’m not watching. And today
I caught her in my private office.”

Drake frowned. “Doing what?”

“She said she was looking for me, but
” Erling’s gaze sharpened. “Something feels off. Like she’s hiding something from me.”

“Do you think she’s in trouble?” Drake asked.

“I don’t know yet,” Erling said quietly. “But I’m going to find out.”

-----

LATE NIGHT — CRYSTAL’S ROOM

Crystal sat by the window, hugging her knees. She had done it. The file transfer was complete.
Her phone buzzed. A new message.

UNKNOWN: Good girl. Now wait for instructions.

She shut her eyes, guilt crashing over her.
Down the hall, Erling’s footsteps echoed. He was coming closer.

And she didn’t know how much longer she could keep lying to him.

CHAPTER 45&46

---

ERLING’S.

The Car was hot, but the tension inside was colder than ice. Erling’s gaze was fixed on the road as he drove roughly overtaking cars and turning left and right, the encrypted message from Queen Ray replaying in his mind:

“I took what matters to you. Now let the game begin.”

He slammed on the h***y when a car stood his way.

“F**k leave the damn road,” he said angrily.

---

ERLING’S MANSION — SAME TIME

Crystal sat silently on the couch, still wrapped in the oversized hoodie that smelled like him. Her heart pounded violently against her chest, but her face wore a soft, distant expression.

She had only been released an hour ago.

Her lips were dry. Her throat ached. Her mind raced with Queen Ray’s threats, especially about Lily.

She couldn’t breathe properly. She couldn’t tell him.

Not yet.

Not ever, maybe.

Footsteps approached.

The front door slammed open.

“Crystal!”

She je**ed her head up.

Erling stood at the entrance, chest rising and falling rapidly. His eyes scanned her as though making sure she was real.

“You’re here,” he breathed, stepping closer.

She blinked. “Where else would I be?”

His brows furrowed. “ I wanted to see your face but you weren’t on any of the security cameras. I—”

“I went out
just to get ice cream,” she lied calmly.

His intense eyes searched her face. “Without security?”

“I needed some fresh air,” she murmured.

He exhaled deeply, relief washing over him, though something in his gut still twisted.

“Next time, at least let me know,” he said, voice softer now. “I panicked.”

Crystal nodded.

A moment of silence hung between them.

Then, she stood.

Walked slowly up to him.

Lifted his hand and placed it on her waist. “I’m fine, Erling.”

He looked at her—truly looked. His hand slid slightly under the hoodie, touching her bare waist. She didn’t flinch. She never did. She was the only one he could touch.

He pulled her into a hug, lips brushing her temple. “I don’t want to lose you.”

“You won’t.”

But she didn’t believe it herself.

Not anymore.

---

SCHOOL HALLWAY – NEXT DAY

Lily laughed as she and Phoebe walked down the locker-filled hallway. Classes were just switching, and the air buzzed with noise.

“I swear, if I fail math again, I’m marrying a calculator,” Lily joked.

Phoebe chuckled. “Make sure it’s a Casio.”

They turned a corner—and froze.

Lyra and her clique stood there, smug looks plastered across their faces.

“Look who’s smiling like she’s the prize,” Lyra said, arms crossed.

Lily narrowed her eyes. “What do you want?”

Lyra smirked. “Just wanted to congratulate you.”

“On what?”

“Winning the bet.”

Phoebe’s eyes widened. “What bet?”

“Oh, didn’t Prince and Frankie tell you?” Lyra asked, voice soaked in venom. “They had a wager. A game. To see who could get Lily first. So you were just a toy a game and truly a misfit, nobody wants you.

Lily paled.

“That’s not true,” Phoebe said, voice shaking.

“Oh, but it is. Ask anyone. Ask their friends. It was all a joke. You were the prize.”

Lily’s lips trembled. “You’re lying.”

“I don’t need to lie. I don’t even like you.”

Phoebe grabbed Lily’s hand. “Let’s go.”

But Lily had stopped listening.

Her world suddenly tilted.

---

CAFETERIA — LUNCHTIME

Phoebe sat beside Lily, who hadn’t touched her food.

“You okay?” Phoebe asked.

Lily didn’t respond. Her eyes were distant.

Across the room, Prince and Frankie sat at their usual table, laughing with Austin and the guys. Oblivious.

Or pretending.

Phoebe clenched her fists. Her mind played the scene over and over—Lyra’s words, Lily’s face, Prince’s charm.

She stood abruptly. “I’ll be back.”

---

OUTSIDE — SAME TIME

Frankie stood near the vending machines, scrolling through his phone.

“Hey,” Phoebe said, stepping up.

He glanced up. “Phoebe?”

She didn’t waste time. “Was there ever a bet?”

His brows furrowed. “What?”

“A bet between you and Prince. About Lily.”

Frankie went silent.

His silence was louder than any answer.

Phoebe’s chest ached. “You let her fall for you
and she’s not even in on the joke?”

“It wasn’t a joke,” he said finally, quietly. “At first
 maybe. But not anymore.”

“Tell her.”

I will...I just didn't expect her to hear this, f**k! Who told you? He asked.

Lyra and her minions, Phoebe replied.

Please help me talk to her I really care about her and about Prince he agreed to the bet cause he wants you, Frankie said.

Phoebe gulped and then walk away.

---

DORM ROOM — EVENING

Lily sat by her bed, hugging a pillow. Phoebe returned, shutting the door softly.

“I talked to Frankie.”

Lily turned her head slowly.

“There was a bet. But it’s over now. He
said it’s not a game anymore.”

Lily laughed bitterly. “Do you know how stupid that sounds?”

“He might actually like you now.” Phoebe said

“I don’t care. I was a game piece.” Lily said

“No. You’re not.”

Phoebe sat beside her and hugged her tightly.

“I hate them,” Lily whispered.

Phoebe didn’t respond.

Because deep down
she wasn’t sure she didn’t hate them too.

---

UNKNOWN LOCATION — EARLIER THAT DAY

A figure was led into an empty room, hoodie on covering her face and leaving just her smooth small pink lips out.

She was in and saw absolutely nothing, Except for a single paper note on the ground:

“Don’t speak. Don’t act. Or Lily dies.”

Then the door opened.

The twins.

“Come with me.”They said at once they voice ice cold

An hour later, the figure was standing beside a large screen which is displaying Erling whole company map, secret place to hide, temper with and so on.

You want me to plant explosive in his company, the figure guess sounding unbelievable, her voice sounding familiar, CRYSTAL.

You would do it or else Lily life lies in our hand, The female twin said beside her and then she gulped she can't believe she is doing this, she promised to fight with him.

And now, here she was—lying to him, pretending she was never taken, pretending her world hadn’t just fallen apart.

---

LATE NIGHT — ERLING’S ROOM

The night air was thick.

Crystal slipped into bed beside Erling. He wrapped his arm around her waist, his lips brushing the back of her neck.

“You feel tense,” he murmured.

“I’m just tired,” she replied softly.

He pressed a gentle kiss on her shoulder. “You can talk to me, Crystal.”

She closed her eyes.

“I know,” she lied.

But she wasn’t ready.

She didn’t know if she’d ever be.

Because now she had to choose.

Protect Lily.

Or protect Erling.

And either way
 someone would get hurt.

Chapter 43&44

SAN FRANCISCO AIRSTRIP — NIGHT
The private jet’s tires screeched as it landed under moonlight.

Queen Ray stepped out, heels clicking against the tarmac. Dressed in a blood-red coat, she adjusted her gloves, eyes burning with one goal.

Destruction.

Sofia followed behind, head low. “We’re being watched.”

“Good,” Queen Ray smirked. “Let them see me. I want Erling to feel me breathing down his neck.”

She lit a cigarette and exhaled slowly. “Where’s the Ghost Twins?”

“Already moving waiting for the mission against tomorrow.”

Queen Ray smiled. “Let’s see how strong his fortress truly is.”

---

EMILY’S APARTMENT – SAME NIGHT

Drake stood at her door, freshly showered, wearing a white hoodie and jeans. He wasn’t sure why he came.

Maybe he needed peace.

Maybe
 he needed her.

Emily opened the door, eyes widening in surprise. “Drake?”

“I couldn’t sleep,” he muttered.

She stepped aside, silently inviting him in.

The room smelled like vanilla and something soft. Familiar.

They sat in silence for a while until Emily spoke. “You don’t have to carry all of it alone.”

Drake sighed. “I’m not like Erling. I don’t know how to pretend I’m fine.”

Emily touched his hand gently. “Then don’t. Be real with me.”

He looked at her, heart beating faster. “You’re not afraid of all this? The danger? The guns? Queen Ray?”

“I’m more afraid of loosing you all,” she whispered.

He leaned closer. “Then don’t let me.”

Their lips met—soft at first, then deeper. It wasn’t rushed.

It was real.

And everything else faded.

---

ERLING’S UNDERGROUND VAULT — LATE NIGHT

The alarm system triggered again. Red lights flashed. Erling slammed the monitor.

“They're are back, the tracker alarm rang.”

Crystal turned sharply. “Which one?”

“Sector 3. The backup entrance under the vineyard. Only Queen Ray’s elite would know it.”

Fear grip her but she acted fine. “Then we know who’s coming.”

Erling stepped in front of her. Noticing her fears.

You going against her for me is something I will appreciate, so no matter what I will protect you even though I'm to sacrifice myself for you.

He paused
and her face kissing her softly on the lips.

“Stay behind me.” He said, "always" he added.

---

SCHOOL DORM BALCONY — SAME NIGHT

Phoebe stood at the railing, hoodie up, earbuds in—but she wasn’t listening to music.

Her heart was a storm of fear and hope.

Down below, Prince stood hidden in the shadows, looking up at her window like he used to.

He didn’t call her name.

_______

ERLING’S OFFICE — NEXT DAY

The shareholders sat nervously in the high-class glass meeting room. Erling’s seat was—by design—separated from the rest of them, across a wide space, near the window.

Always seated far from the rest cause of his skin irritation to human touch.

Even now, he sat alone with cold elegance, fingers tapping his pen against his notepad.

Drake has been the one helping him in his office this few days but he suddenly got an important meeting which he himself must attend.

A man stood up. “Mr. West, the budget for your security project is—”

“Approved,” Erling said without lifting his head.

The man blinked. “But we didn’t finish—”

“I did,” Erling said coldly. “Move on.”

A notification buzzed on his tablet.

He ignored it at first—until he saw the name.

Queen Ray.

The message was encrypted.

---

ERLING’S MANSION — LIVING ROOM

Crystal was home, curled up in Erling’s hoodie on the velvet couch

She held her phone, texting Lily.

> “How are you feeling today? My baby bear.

> I’m good. But you all have been acting weird, since the gunshots, you told maybe they are thugs but how did you know about the thugs and then you came.

Crystal froze.

But she had no idea that someone was watching her from the shadows of the estate's camera system.

---

EMILY’S APARTMENT — SAME TIME

Drake leaned against the kitchen counter while Emily rambled on about some Korean drama.

He wasn’t really listening.

He was just staring at her.

He has truly fallen for this girl.

---

STREET SIDE —

Crystal walked down the city street, her white sundress fluttering gently as she enjoyed the coolness of her ice cream cone.

She suddenly crave it after the call with Lily , though her mind was trouble on how to explain all this sh*t but she( Crystal ) manage to form a lie to keep her ( Lily )out of worries and troubles.

The sun was soft, the breeze gentle. For once, she wasn’t running. Just being
 normal.

She stopped to admire a jewelry display on a boutique window when—

A van pulled up.

Fast.

Black tinted windows.

Crystal barely turned before two figures in black masks lunged out, grabbing her.

Her ice cream hit the floor.

“Mmph—!” Her scream was muffled by a cloth pressed against her mouth.

Her eyes widened in horror.

One whispered in her ear, voice smooth and cruel:
“Tell your boyfriend he’s too slow.”

And everything went dark.

LILY’S DORM ROOM____

Lily sat cross-legged on her bed, textbooks scattered.

Frankie stood at the door, hand against the frame. “Can I come in?”

She looked up. “You’re already inside, genius.”

He walked in slowly.

She raised a brow. “You’re acting like the world’s about to end.”

“It kinda feels like it.”

Lily tilted her head. “Spit it out.”

“I like you,” he said, eyes locked on hers.

She blinked.

He stepped closer. “I don’t care about what anyone will say. I care about you, Lily. For real.”

She stared up at him. “Then show me.”

And just like that—

He kissed her.

It wasn’t rushed. It wasn’t perfect.

But it was honest.

When they pulled away, Lily whispered, “You’re trouble.”

He grinned. “But I’m your trouble now.”

---

ERLING OFFICE ______

“I took what matters to you. now let the game begin"

Erling’s eyes sharpened.

He stood up abruptly.

“Meeting adjourned.”

“But—sir—”

“I said it’s over.”

The air chilled as he left.

______

UNKNOWN LOCATION — BASEMENT CELL

Crystal opened her eyes slowly.

Stone walls. Cold floor. Chains on her ankles.

She was no longer in Erling’s house.

A camera blinked red in the corner.

And a woman’s voice came through a speaker above.

“You always were soft like your father.”

Crystal’s heart froze.

Queen Ray she called frightened.

The screen flickered on.

Queen Ray’s face filled it.

“You recognize my voice so well?”

Crystal’s eyes widened. "You witch I knew your coming back isn't gonna be easy but I'm not scared of you either.”

“You left us!” Crystal screamed, standing despite the chains. “You abandoned us!”

Queen Ray’s smile was cold. “And now I’m back. Because your loyalty to Erling makes me sick.”

Crystal’s fists shook. “You want me to betray him?”

“I want you to hate him.”

“Then you’ll wait forever.”

Queen Ray’s smile dropped. “Then maybe I’ll have to remind you what fear feels like.”

The screen changed.

Footage of Lily—laughing in her dorm room—filled the screen.

Crystal’s blood ran cold.

“No,” she whispered.

“She doesn’t know the truth, does she?” Queen Ray purred. “Poor Lily. So innocent. So unprepared.”

“Don’t you dare touch her!”

“Then betray him.”

Crystal clenched her jaw. “as she went silent"

Queen Ray leaned forward on the screen, her smile cold, calculative and dangerous. “what did you say".

Chapter 41&42

SCHOOL PARKING LOT — CONTINUED

“LILY!”

Crystal screamed, running as fast as her injured leg could carry her.

Frankie was already on the ground, shielding Lily with his body, heart pounding against his ribs like a war drum. “Lily, talk to me!”

But she wasn’t moving.

Phoebe and Prince had just stepped out of the school building when they heard the gunshot. Prince’s eyes widened. “That was—”

“Lily!” Phoebe cried and ran.

Prince followed instantly.

Crystal dropped beside her sister, hands shaking as she turned Lily’s body gently. “Please be okay, please be okay
”

Blood.

But not Lily’s.

Frankie gasped and pulled his arm up. “Damn it!” he hissed, a bullet had grazed his shoulder while shielding her.

“I’m fine,” Lily said in a dazed voice, eyes wide with shock. “I think I’m okay
 Frankie—your arm!”

Frankie gave her a weak smirk, wincing. “Told you I’d catch you if you fall.”

A black van screeched off in the distance.

Prince took off running after it, but it was gone before he could catch a plate. He punched the air in frustration.

Phoebe knelt beside Crystal, breathless. “Who are those people.”

Crystal closed her eyes hard. “Queen Ray just declared war.” she thought.

---

QUEEN RAY'S PRIVATE JET — THAT NIGHT

Queen Ray sat calmly in her private jet sipping red wine, Sofia standing beside her.

“They missed,” Sofia said coldly.

Queen Ray swirled the wine, unfazed. “They weren’t meant to kill. Just scare. Shake her foundation. The sister was the crack.”

Sofia hesitated. “But Erling is already moving.”

Queen Ray's eyes narrowed. “Then I’ll move faster. If he truly remembers Lily
 then everything could burn.”

To bad I'm already leaving San Francisco but I will be back for them, but you would go back

---

ERLING’S STUDY — NIGHT

Erling slammed his palm against the table.

“Where was the guard I sent?!”

“They were blocked off. Spike traps on the back road. It was planned,” Drake said grimly.

Erling clenched his fists so hard his knuckles turned white. “They’re drawing us out. Hitting at the edges.”

Crystal stood beside him, touching his arm lightly. “She’s pushing us, Erling. Trying to break us before we rise.”

He turned to her, eyes dark. “Then let her try.”

There was something fierce in his gaze now—burning hotter than fear. For the first time
Crystal saw not just a cold-hearted man fighting trauma.

She saw a leader.

A king in war.

---

LILY’S DORM— LATER

Lily lay on her bed with a bandage on her elbow from the fall. Frankie sat on the floor next to her bed, his arm now stitched up.

“You didn’t have to jump in front of me like that,” Lily whispered.

Frankie looked up at her. “I would again. A thousand times.”

Lily stared at him for a moment. “You really care, don’t you?”

“I’m not playing games with you, Lily,” he said seriously. “I’m in this.”

She looked away, cheeks warm. “Don’t say things you’ll take back.”

He smiled. “I won’t.”

---

SCHOOL ROOFTOP — NEXT DAY

Prince stood at the edge, watching the horizon as the wind pulled at his hoodie. Phoebe joined him silently, their eyes both tired.

“You chased the van yesterday,” she said.

“I wanted to rip the driver’s throat out.”

Phoebe blinked at the rage in his voice.

He turned to her. “Are you okay?”

She nodded. “Are you?”

“No,” he said honestly. “Because you were there. And you could’ve been hurt.”

She looked at him, expression unreadable. “Why does that matter to you?”

His jaw flexed. He didn’t answer.

She stepped closer. “You still haven’t said anything about that night you saved me. Why?”

Prince stared at her, emotions clouding his eyes. “Because if I say it
I’ll never be able to pretend again.”

Phoebe’s lips parted—but the bell rang.

They broke apart like fire and water.

---

SECRET PLACE __NIGHT

Sofia entered quietly. “You called?”

A figurewas standing by the window.

“Sofia,” he said without turning. “Are you ready to play double?”

She blinked. “You want me to spy back on Queen Ray?”

“I want her to think you’re hers.”

Sofia hesitated, then gave a cold nod. “She already does.”

The figure finally looked back. “Good. Let’s feed her a lie.”

---

ERLING’S MANSION – SECRET ROOM

Crystal stood in the middle of a large, dark room under Erling’s estate. It wasn’t just a house. It was a fortress—with blueprints, surveillance monitors, and a weapons vault hidden beneath.

“This
is where you’ve been planning everything?” she asked, stunned.

Erling nodded. “Since the day I escaped Queen Ray’s network.”

Crystal blinked. “You were part of her?”

“I was raised around her men. My father owed her. I was trained
 but I escaped. With scars.”
His eyes burned. “Now I’m going to end her.”

Crystal walked closer. “Then let’s end her together.”

Erling looked at her hand reaching for his.

And he took it.

His fingers didn’t tremble.

She was his calm.

---

QUEEN RAY’S BASE — RUSSIA

Queen Ray smashed a glass on the floor.

“He built a bunker beneath the city?!” she was actually on a call with Sofia
“It’s hidden under his main mansion. Armed. Smart systems. Even a panic shelter.” Sofia added

Queen Ray’s face twisted with rage. “And Crystal?”

“She’s in,” Sofia lied smoothly. “But there’s tension. He doesn’t fully trust her.”

Queen Ray leaned back, smiling darkly. “Good. Let’s break what’s already cracking.” I'm coming back to San Francisco soon. and the call ended abruptly.

---

SCHOOL HALLWAY — NIGHT

The hallway was nearly empty. Everyone had gone except the late readers, a few cleaning staff, and

Prince.

He leaned on his locker, eyes scanning his phone—but not really reading.

Phoebe walked toward him slowly, hoodie half-zipped, arms crossed.

“I thought you left,” he said without looking.

“I was in the library,” she replied. “Reading.”

They were quiet for a moment.

“You’ve been stalking me,” she said.

“I’ve been missing you since that night.”he said

Phoebe took a breath. “I’m not asking you to fix anything. I just
need to know if I’m the only one still feeling this.”

Prince finally looked at her.

And his walls cracked.

“I never stopped feeling it,” he admitted.

Phoebe’s heart jumped.

He walked closer. “I still remember the way you looked that night
 in the rain.”

She blinked. “Don’t—”

“You were crying. And I walked away.” His voice shook. “That was the biggest mistake of my life.”

Phoebe turned her face slightly, afraid he’d see how much it still hurt.

“I still care,” he whispered. “I just
don’t know what I deserve anymore.”

Phoebe met his gaze. “Maybe you deserve a second chance.”

ERLING’S UNDERGROUND VAULT – LATER

Crystal opened a file Erling handed her.

“What's this?”

“Every record I have on Queen Ray. Weapons, locations, men, weak spots. We’re taking the fight to her doorstep now.”

Crystal’s fingers tightened. “She won’t expect us to go this bold.”

“She won’t expect you to be this strong,” Erling corrected, staring at her. “But I do.”

Crystal gave him a small smile.

Suddenly, an alert blared on the screen.

Erling’s face darkened. “She’s moving.”

“To where?”

“San Francisco.”
He looked her dead in the eye.
“She’s coming. Herself.”

Chapter 39&40

QUEEN RAY SUIT

____

Queen Ray twirled a knife between her fingers as Mason delivered the report.

“She survived,” Mason said. “And Erling came
 but he’s weakening.”

Queen Ray chuckled coldly. “The boy’s disease is a curse. And Crystal? Her tears taste like wine.”

Mason hesitated. “He touched her.” Sofia said the twins reported how Erling touch Crystal but couldn't make contact with other people.

Queen Ray’s smile vanished.

“What?”

Mason nodded. “He didn’t freeze. Not with her.”

Queen Ray stood slowly, face hardening. “Then we break her completely. And remind him
that touching her comes with a cost.”

D5 MANSION ____

For the project all of the boys decided to invite the girls in and as they enter their mouth was wide open.

Damn it..they were young millionaire no doubt cause how the f** k is their mansion this luxurious almost everything is Grey not bad at all infact it suit their personalities and the way the things are arranged shows their madly clean as well.

Stop the stares...we know we have taste but you can't steal the house with your eyes right.

Anyways Grey will show you the way to our study room I have mine personal but since it's a group of four we will use the general study room Frankie said.

Soon they were all sitted in the study room all looking serious.

Lily tapped her pen on the table. “Okay. Who’s taking what part?”

Frankie smiled. “I’ll do betrayal. Seems fitting.”

Lily rolled her eyes. “No surprise there.”

Phoebe looked at her notes. “I’ll take loyalty.”

Prince finally spoke. “I’ll take trust.”

Everyone froze.

Frankie raised a brow. “Trust? From you?”

Prince shot him a look. “Problem?”

“No,” Frankie smirked. “Just making sure the irony was on purpose.”

Phoebe sighed. “Can we please just work together without turning everything into a battle?”

Lily nodded. “Yeah. This isn’t ‘Survivor.’ It’s a school project.”

Frankie leaned forward toward Phoebe, voice playful but direct. “Then maybe your boyfriend should chill.”

Phoebe blinked. “My what?”

Prince’s jaw clenched.

Lily just looked away, pretending not to see the quiet fire building between the two boys—because she knew.

She knew Prince was watching Phoebe.

And Frankie noticed that too but how? Maybe he knows something has been fishy from the very first beginning.

But prince stood there shock but It wasn't obvious of cause he knows what Frankie is capable of but how the hell did he know about his affair with Phoebe or maybe a past affair.

ERLING MANSION – LATER THAT AFTERNOON

Crystal sat on the edge of the living room couch, wincing as she held a cold cloth to her shoulder. Her arm was bruised, her lip cut slightly—but her expression stayed calm.

Across from her, Erling sat—not far, but close enough to be near her.

He had tried.

He had tried to save her. Fought his body just to reach her.

And even though he collapsed afterward, he still managed to whisper her name before going unconscious.

Only Crystal had been able to touch him, calm him, and help him breathe again. Because she was the only one who never triggered his fear.

The door swung open, and Emily burst in with Drake at her heels, Crystal actually called them over.

“Oh my gosh!” Emily rushed over. “Crystal, are you okay?! Who did this?”

Crystal looked up. “I’m fine now.”

Drake followed, fists clenched. “Fine? Crystal, you’re bleeding.”

Behind them came Mrs. Niata, Emily’s stylish and funny mum, walking in for the first time with a small purse.

“What in the juicy heavens happened to this poor child?” she asked, eyeing the injury. “Emily, I thought you said your friends were dramatic—not under attack!”

“Mum,” Emily sighed, “this is serious.”

“She was attacked by Queen Ray’s assassins,” Drake said through clenched teeth. I'm sure she is behind this..that witch!

Mrs. Niata blinked.

That wicked soul,” Emily said. “She’s after Crystal now.”

Mrs. Niata stared at them for a second. “Alright then. Welcome to San Francisco. Do I need a knife?”

Crystal gave a small smile, despite the pain.

Then her eyes moved to Erling, who was still quiet—his jaw stiff, his breathing shallow.

Emily whispered to her mum, “That’s Erling. The cold one. But
 he’s different with Crystal.”

Mrs. Niata raised a brow. “I can see that. He hasn’t moved an inch from her.”

Drake watched Erling with suspicion. “He collapsed earlier trying to protect her. Guess he’s not so cold.”

Crystal’s voice was soft. “He’s not. He just
can’t touch anyone. His body reacts. But with me
”

She reached her hand out and placed it gently on Erling’s.
He didn’t flinch.
He didn’t move away.
His eyes just closed for a second—like her touch was the only peace in his storm.

Only Crystal could do that.

Mrs. Niata exhaled. “Wow. Now that’s love. Or trauma-bonding. I’m not sure which yet.”

“Mum,” Emily groaned.

Crystal looked up. “Thank you
all of you. But this isn’t over. If she sent those people
 she’ll send more.”

Drake nodded. “Then we need to stay one step ahead.”

Emily looked at her mum. “You still think this is just school drama?”

Mrs. Niata shook her head slowly. “No, baby. This is war.”

And then boom something hit in...

Lily!! Crystal scream.

What if, she goes after my sister, Crystal said panicking.

Not Lily, Erling said standing up.

Where are you going? Drake question.

Appointing a guard for her.

But you barely know her lemme go over to her school please, Crystal said almost crying.

I know Lily...I name her..I have her the scholarship as well, Erling said simply.

Crystal and Emily was shock but said nothing.

I still need to see her, she needs to understand things before they get to her..she said standing up.

No you should go there tomorrow, you need rest, Lily won't be happy to see you like this , Emily said and Crystal reluctantly sat back.

D5 MANSION____ STUDY ROOM

The table was a mess—papers, snacks, and open laptops scattered everywhere.
Lily and Phoebe sat together on one side, while Frankie and Prince sat across them

“Betrayal, loyalty, trust
This group work is starting to feel personal.” Frankie said.

Lily raised a brow. “Because it is?”

Frankie grinned, eyes on Lily. “I still say betrayal’s mine. Fits my vibe, don’t you think?”

Lily rolled her eyes but smiled faintly. “You just want the dramatic part.”

Phoebe scribbled something in her book. “I’ll take loyalty.”

Prince looked up from his spot near the window. “I’ll do trust.”

The room went quiet.

Lily looked between Prince and the Phoebe. “Trust? That’s... unexpected.”

Frankie gave a small snort but didn’t say anything. He had better things to focus on—like the way Lily’s hair kept falling across her cheek.

She tapped her pen on the table. “Okay, I’m doing narration. So let’s just plan this and wrap it up. I’ve got things to do.”

Frankie leaned slightly closer to Lily, just enough to make her glance at him.

“You mean we have things to do.”

Lily blinked but said nothing.

Phoebe cleared her throat. “Let’s stay on task, please.”

Prince didn’t look at her directly, but his pen paused mid-note.

⏱ LATER – PROJECT COMPLETE

The board was full of notes. Slides printed. Scripts written.

Phoebe packed up her things. “I think this is enough for tonight.”

“Finally,” Frankie muttered. “My brain is fried.”

Frankie grabbed his jacket, eyes flicking to Lily. “Ready to go?”

Lily stood and nodded. “Yeah.”

Prince watched silently as Phoebe pulled on her hoodie.

“I’ll walk behind you,” he said quietly.

Phoebe glanced at him—just a flick of her eyes. “Suit yourself.”

As they left the mansion, Frankie and Lily walked ahead, laughing quietly at something they said.

Phoebe and Prince followed in silence, their footsteps matching, hearts saying what mouths refused to.

SCHOOL PARKING LOT – NEXT DAY

Lily walked to the car park with her bag. Frankie was by her side, his bike helmet in his hand.

“Want a ride?” he grinned.

She gave him a look. “Do you even have a license?”

“Nope.”

She laughed. “Pass.”

Suddenly, a car screeched to a halt nearby.

A figure stepped out.

Crystal.

Her face was pale, and her body moved with pain due to the last hit

“Lily—” she called out.

Frankie and Lily turned and Lily was so surprised to see Crystal that she immediately ran to hug her

But just before she could get to her.

BAM!

A gunshot echoed.

Screams rang out.

Lily dropped to the ground.
