I was in Osi, Ekiti LGA, in a bid to attend the Citizens’ Engagement on the 2027 Budget Preparation Process held for the Kwara South Senatorial District at Osi Town Hall, Ekiti Local Government Area.

The engagement, approved by His Excellency, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, CON, provided an opportunity for citizens, civil society organisations, NGOs, the organised private sector, traditional institutions and other stakeholders to contribute their perspectives and priorities to the 2027 budget process.

As a member of the State Executive Council, I value platforms that allow government to listen directly to the people and understand their needs as plans for the next fiscal year are developed.

I commend the Honourable Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development, Dr. (Mrs.) Mary Ronke Arinde, and her team for organising this engagement.

I visited victims of the tragic 3-storey building collapse in the Popo Giwa area of Ilorin who are receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH).

During the visit, the victims acknowledged the swift intervention of the Kwara State Government, the visit by His Excellency, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, CON, and the medical care they have received since the incident. I wished them a safe and speedy recovery and assured them of the government’s continued support.

Earlier, His Excellency had sent a State Government delegation to the scene to assess the situation and empathise with the affected community.

To further ensure that the victims receive the best possible care, I met with the management of KWASUTH to review their condition and ensure that everything required for their treatment, stabilisation and recovery is made available.

I commend His Excellency, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, CON, for his prompt intervention and personal visit to the victims. I also commend the first responders, emergency services, healthcare workers and community volunteers for their coordinated efforts in responding to the incident and rescuing those affected.

May Almighty Allaah grant the victims strength and a full and speedy recovery. We will continue to monitor their care and provide the necessary support throughout their treatment.

It is no secret by now that this program genuinely excites me.

This is a flagship activity being conducted in partnership with the UNFPA through the EU-SARAH initiative. Tuition is free and they get free accommodation too. All the successful candidates are also paid a stipend monthly for the duration of the program.

We at the Kwara State Ministry of Health worked quite hard to get the relevant accreditation for the school from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, so this is a good program.

So, if you know any young ladies who would like to be midwives and contribute to the crashing of maternal mortality in their communities in the eligible LGAs, have them apply as in the image below.

The 2026 Kwara State Free Medical and Surgical Outreach Programme (MSOP) continues to bring free healthcare services closer to people.

The latest stop was my home community of Offa Local Government, so it was particularly special to supervise the activity as it held in the General Hospital, Offa.

Alongside the management of the Kwara State Ministry of Health, I met beneficiaries receiving medical consultations, screenings, treatment and surgical care from the State's healthcare professionals.

It is always humbling to hear beneficiaries share their gratitude for receiving treatment at no cost. There were many heartfelt prayers for His Excellency, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, CON, for sustaining the programme which makes healthcare more accessible to Kwarans.

The Kwara State Free MSOP is one of the major health interventions of the administration of His Excellency, reaching communities across the 16 Local Government Areas. It complements other interventions, including free health insurance coverage for thousands of Kwarans.

I appreciate the dedicated medical team and all healthcare workers for their commitment to ensuring that beneficiaries receive the care they need.

At the ongoing reconstruction of the Civil Service Clinic, Ilorin, I led an inspection visit, accompanied by the management of the Kwara State Ministry of Health, to assess the progress of work and review the development of the facility.

I was impressed by the level of progress recorded so far and the quality of work observed at the site. The visit also provided an opportunity to engage with the project team and identify areas requiring attention as the reconstruction progresses.

I appreciate His Excellency, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, CON, for his commitment to the ongoing effort to restore the facility to a modern and functional standard.

One of the most fulfilling parts of my professional life is watching my mentees or indeed any young person excel.

All my mentees know I will go to great lengths and do anything within my capacity to help them succeed.

Congratulations on this great win, my dear Ganiyat Bukola Abdulganiyu. Winning the Erasmus Mundus scholarship is no mean feat. I am incredibly proud of and grateful for you.

I hope you have a blessed stay in France Spain and Portugal as you pursue the next chapter of your life.
