Fresh CDC Bye-Election Scheduled in Uzuaku Following Royal Intervention

A new date has been announced for the conduct of a fresh Community Development Committee (CDC) bye-election in Uzuaku community, following the cancellation of two previously held factional elections.

According to a statement issued by Acting CDC Chairman, Mr. Peter Nwachukwu, the election is now scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

The decision comes after the intervention of the Paramount Ruler and King of IPU South Autonomous Community, Eze Hon Apostle Godwin C. Ukanna. Uzuaku is part of the IPU South Autonomous Community, and the royal intervention is seen as a significant step toward resolving internal disputes.

The process is being conducted in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS), Abia State command. Authorities say the joint effort aims to restore lasting peace, unity, and order within the community after tensions surrounding the earlier elections.

Residents have been assured that adequate security personnel will be deployed to the election venue. This is to ensure the safety of participants, maintain orderliness, and guarantee a peaceful electoral process before, during, and after the exercise.

Community members have been urged to take note of the new date and make the necessary arrangements to participate in the election.
