NEGF Chairman, Gov. Zulum Commissions Remodeled Taraba Green House Project in Jalingo
The Chairman of the North East Governors’ Forum (NEGF) and Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, on Saturday, 30th August 2025, commissioned the remodeled and upgraded Taraba Green House Project in Jalingo.
The commissioning ceremony took place shortly after the conclusion of the 12th NEGF meeting, which was hosted by Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas.
The Taraba Green House Project, one of the flagship agricultural initiatives of the state, had been abandoned for years until Governor Kefas resuscitated and upgraded it, recognizing its strategic importance to food security, job creation, and economic development.
In his remarks, Governor Zulum commended Governor Kefas for his foresight and commitment to revitalizing the project, noting that such investments in agriculture hold the key to addressing unemployment, boosting local production, and reducing dependence on imported food.
“This initiative will not only benefit Taraba but the entire North East and humanity at large. It is a step in the right direction towards achieving sustainable development in our region,” Zulum stated.
Governor Agbu Kefas, while expressing appreciation to his colleagues for their support, reaffirmed his administration’s determination to prioritize agriculture, describing it as a major driver of economic diversification and rural empowerment in Taraba State.
The remodeled Green House Project is expected to serve as a model of modern agricultural practice, providing improved seedlings, training for farmers, and enhancing food supply chains within the region.
