NEGF Chairman, Gov. Zulum Commissions Remodeled Taraba Green House Project in Jalingo

The Chairman of the North East Governors’ Forum (NEGF) and Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, on Saturday, 30th August 2025, commissioned the remodeled and upgraded Taraba Green House Project in Jalingo.

The commissioning ceremony took place shortly after the conclusion of the 12th NEGF meeting, which was hosted by Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas.

The Taraba Green House Project, one of the flagship agricultural initiatives of the state, had been abandoned for years until Governor Kefas resuscitated and upgraded it, recognizing its strategic importance to food security, job creation, and economic development.

In his remarks, Governor Zulum commended Governor Kefas for his foresight and commitment to revitalizing the project, noting that such investments in agriculture hold the key to addressing unemployment, boosting local production, and reducing dependence on imported food.

“This initiative will not only benefit Taraba but the entire North East and humanity at large. It is a step in the right direction towards achieving sustainable development in our region,” Zulum stated.

Governor Agbu Kefas, while expressing appreciation to his colleagues for their support, reaffirmed his administration’s determination to prioritize agriculture, describing it as a major driver of economic diversification and rural empowerment in Taraba State.

The remodeled Green House Project is expected to serve as a model of modern agricultural practice, providing improved seedlings, training for farmers, and enhancing food supply chains within the region.

Governor Agbu Kefas Reaffirms Workers’ Welfare as NLC Suspends Strike in Taraba

Today, August 13, 2025, His Excellency Governor Agbu Kefas’ decisive leadership has brought an end to the recent industrial action by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Taraba State, following his administration’s approval for the payment of staff previously tagged as “ghost workers.”

The Governor’s intervention swiftly addressed the lingering wage concerns, paving the way for the suspension of the strike and the full resumption of government and institutional activities across the state.

Speaking on the development, Governor Kefas underscored his administration’s commitment to the welfare of workers, describing them as “the engine room of government” and a key pillar in his vision for a progressive Taraba.

“From the first day I assumed office, I made it clear that the dignity of our workforce will be restored and protected. We have ensured regular payment of salaries, maintained the minimum wage, facilitated promotions, provided training opportunities, and initiated welfare interventions. This resolution reaffirms my stand that no legitimate worker in Taraba State will be denied their rightful earnings,” the Governor said.

Since taking office, Governor Kefas has implemented far-reaching reforms aimed at enhancing productivity in the civil service. His administration has invested in capacity-building programs, improved work conditions, and strengthened collaboration with labour unions to ensure issues are resolved through dialogue rather than prolonged disruption.

He called on workers to reciprocate the government’s commitment by rededicating themselves to building a more prosperous and united Taraba.

“This is a time for renewed energy and focus. Together, we can deliver the Taraba we all dream of- one built on justice, fairness, and shared prosperity,” he added.

Governor Kefas’ prompt action and consistent pro-labour stance have further solidified his reputation as a people-oriented leader committed to fairness, transparency, and inclusive governance.
