In furtherance of its commitment to nurturing a new generation of digitally skilled and innovative Nigerians, NITDA, in collaboration with the Enugu MSME and Startup Agency, has concluded the Enugu Kids Coding and Emerging Technology Bootcamp, equipping primary and secondary school students with practical digital and emerging technology skills.

Through hands-on learning, participants explored Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Robotics and Automation, Drone Technology, Autonomous Systems, 3D Design and other emerging technologies.

The South-East Zonal Director of NITDA who was represented by Mr. Ikechukwu Eze urged the participants to build on the knowledge acquired and use technology to develop solutions that address real-world challenges. He encouraged them to look beyond the classroom, embrace innovation and grow into future technology leaders capable of contributing to Nigeria’s digital economy.

Certificates were presented to all participants, while outstanding students received laptops and tablets in recognition of their exceptional performance. Through initiatives like this, NITDA continues to strengthen Nigeria’s digital talent pipeline by giving young Nigerians an early foundation to innovate, compete and contribute meaningfully to the country’s digital transformation.

Two hundred young Nigerians are now better equipped to shape the future of technology after completing the NITDA Summer Training Programme and Free Long Vacation Young School Kids Coding Bootcamp at Federal Technical College, Yaba, Lagos.

Organised by NITDA in collaboration with Cisco and UNITeS Academy, the bootcamp provided hands-on training in coding, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, robotics, game development, animation and digital creativity, while strengthening problem-solving, critical thinking and computational skills.

Beyond the holiday learning experience, the programme is part of the broader effort to build Nigeria’s digital talent pipeline by empowering young people to move from being technology users to creators and innovators. Participants were encouraged to sustain their learning, explore new ideas and use technology to solve real-world challenges.

As certificates were presented, participants, parents and school authorities celebrated a transformative experience that has inspired new ambitions and career possibilities innovators, engineers and digital entrepreneurs who will drive Nigeria’s digital future.

Nigeria is deliberately positioning itself to play a leading role in the future economy by developing the policies, strategies, talent and innovation ecosystem required to move beyond technology adoption to technology creation.

The Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, stated this at GITEX Nigeria in Lagos, noting that the emerging economy will increasingly be driven by human intelligence, creativity, knowledge and the ability to solve problems.

He said Nigeria’s greatest asset is its people, making digital literacy, talent development and deep-tech research central to the country’s economic transformation agenda.

Inuwa highlighted Nigeria’s focus on Artificial Intelligence, IoT, robotics, blockchain, UAVs and additive manufacturing as technologies capable of driving productivity and creating new economic opportunities across sectors.

According to him, the ambition is clear: to build a Nigeria that does not simply adopt the technologies of tomorrow, but creates, scales and exports solutions that help shape the future economy.
