PASSING OF ASF II ABDULHADI IKO

It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that the Federal Fire Service, Kebbi State Command, announces the passing of ASF II Abdulhadi Iko, who departed this life today, Wednesday, 2nd September 2026, after a brief illness at General Hospital Zuru

The death of ASF II Abdulhadi Iko is a painful loss to the Federal Fire Service, Kebbi State Command, his colleagues, friends, associates, and, most especially, his family and loved ones.

During this difficult period, the Command extends its heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, relatives, colleagues, and all those who mourn his passing.

We pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings, grants him His infinite mercy, admits him into Jannatul Firdaus, and gives his family, colleagues, and loved ones the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

May Almighty Allah grant him eternal rest and make Jannatul Firdaus his final abode.

REPORT ON THE RECEIPT OF TEN (10) NEW MATTRESSES DONATED TO JEGA AREA OFFICE

I wish to report that the Federal Fire Service, Jega Area Office, Kebbi State Command, has received ten (10) new mattresses donated by Hon. Mansur Musa Jega, Member representing Jega, Aliero and Gwandu Federal Constituency.

The mattresses were received on behalf of the Service by SF Ismaila Mohammed, Head of Jega Area Office. The donation is intended to support the welfare and accommodation needs of personnel serving at the Jega Area Office.

The management and personnel of the Federal Fire Service, Jega Area Office, sincerely appreciate Hon. Mansur Musa Jega for this kind gesture and his continued support towards improving the welfare and working conditions of Fire Service personnel.

The donated items have been duly received into store and shall be put to appropriate use for the benefit of the personnel.

FEDERAL FIRE SERVICE, JEGA AREA COMMAND HONORS GRADUATING STUDENTS AT COMMAND SECONDARY SCHOOL JEGA

Jega, Kebbi State – July 28, 2026

The Federal Fire Service, Jega Area Command, was in attendance at the graduation ceremony of Command Secondary School, Jega, held over the weekend.

The event was graced by distinguished personalities including His Royal Highness, the Arzika Bawa Jega; the Executive Chairman of Jega Local Government, Hon. Shehu S.K.; and *the Honorable Commissioner for Sports, Kebbi State, Hon. Nura Bala Fingilla.

In his royal remarks, His Royal Highness the Arzika Bawa Jega congratulated the graduates and urged them to be good ambassadors of the school and the community. He commended the Federal Fire Service for its presence and for its continued support to institutions within the emirate.

The Executive Chairman of Jega Local Government, Hon. Shehu S.K., also congratulated the graduands and reassured the school management of the council’s continued commitment to providing a conducive learning environment.

On his part, the Honorable Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Nura Bala Fingilla, charged the students to combine academic excellence with skills acquisition and sportsmanship as they proceed to the next phase of their lives.

The highlight of the ceremony included the presentation of awards to outstanding students, a march past, cultural displays, and the official graduation parade.

The ceremony concluded with prayers for the success of the graduates and a group photograph with dignitaries, staff, and students.

DEATH NOTIFICATION

The Kebbi State Command of the Federal Fire Service announces, with deep sorrow and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, the passing of DSF Abubakar Ibrahim Zauro, a dedicated officer attached to DCGF Zagga (Rtd).

After a protracted illness, he passed away yesterday at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Birnin Kebbi.

His death is a great loss to the Command, the Federal Fire Service, and the nation at large. He served with commitment, discipline, and unwavering dedication to duty.

His funeral prayer (Janazah) will be conducted today at Zauro Juma’at Mosque at 9am.

The Kebbi State Command extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and loved ones during this difficult time.

We pray that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings, grants him eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus, and gives all those he left behind the strength to bear this great loss.

Gas Explosion Prevention Lecture at Abdullahi Fodiyo University

Subject: Sensitization on Gas Explosion Prevention

In response to the rising incidents of domestic and industrial gas mishaps, a specialized team of officers conducted an educational outreach program at Abdullahi Fodiyo University. The primary goal was to equip students and staff with the necessary knowledge to identify potential hazards and prevent gas-related explosions within the campus environment and their homes.

The lecture was delivered by ASF II S M MANZO. During the lecture, the following critical safety areas were addressed:
Detection of Leaks: Instructions on how to identify the smell of LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) and the "soapy water test" for checking hose connections.
Cylinder Maintenance: The importance of keeping cylinders upright, checking expiry dates, and ensuring they are kept in well-ventilated areas.

Emergency Response: Immediate steps to take if a leak is detected, including:
Avoiding the use of electrical switches or mobile phones.
Opening all windows and doors for ventilation.
Evacuating the area and contacting emergency services.
Safe Cooking Habits: Not leaving gas stoves unattended and ensuring burners are properly extinguished after use.
The officers employed an interactive approach:
Formal Address: Detailed explanations of the chemistry behind gas explosions and the physical triggers.

Q&A Session: Students were given the opportunity to ask specific questions regarding their living quarters and common safety myths.
Demonstration: Visual guidance on the proper handling of gas regulators and valves.

Safety posters highlighting "Do’s and Don’ts" be posted in student hostels.
Continued collaboration between the university and safety agencies be maintained for regular refresher courses.

Fire Risk Assessment and Rescue Demonstration
Location: First Aid Group of Jama'atu Izalatul Bid'ah Wa Iqamatus-Sunnah (JIBWIS), Jega LGA, Kebbi State.
Organized by: Federal Fire Service, Jega Area Command, Kebbi State.

Team Lead: Deputy Superintendent of Fire (DSF) Zaharadeen. In a proactive move to enhance public safety and emergency preparedness, the Federal Fire Service, Jega Area Command, conducted a comprehensive Fire Risk Assessment and Rescue Training session for the First Aid Group of JIBWIS in Jega.
The exercise was designed to equip the volunteers with essential skills in fire prevention, controlled extinguishing, and victim evacuation techniques.
Key Highlights of the Exercise
Fire Risk Assessment: Our team conducted a thorough evaluation of the premises to identify potential hazards and provide recommendations on mitigating fire risks within the community setting.
Live Fire Suppression: Participants witnessed and participated in practical demonstrations on how to use fire extinguishers and fire blankets to stifle flames at the incipient stage. Rescue Operations: DSF Zaharadeen and the team demonstrated various manual carries and rescue maneuvers, including:

The Fireman’s Lift: For moving unconscious or injured persons quickly.

Two-Person Seats: Used for transporting victims who are conscious but unable to walk.
Child Rescue Techniques: Specialized handling for younger victims during emergencies.

FIRE INCIDENT REPORT

The Federal Fire Service Jega Area Command responded to a fire incident involving a tanker carrying 33,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS). The fire was successfully extinguished and contained after 3 hours of battle against the inferno.

RESPONSE AND ACTIONS

- Firefighters from the Federal Fire Service Jega Area Command arrived at the scene and brought the fire under control
- The fire was extinguished, and the area was secured to prevent further danger
- Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing
