GOVERNOR MUTFWANG PLEDGES STRONGER PARTNERSHIP WITH NITAD TO STRENGTHEN HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT IN PLATEAU

The Executive Governor of Plateau, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to deepening collaboration with the Nigeria Institute of Training and Development (NITAD) to strengthen professional training, capacity development and human capital development in the state.

Governor Mutfwang noted this on Thursday when he received the President of NITAD, Mr. James Bulus, and members of the institute on a courtesy visit to Government House, Rayfield, Jos.

The visit was part of the activities marking the institute’s 33rd Annual Conference, which is currently being hosted by Plateau State.

Represented by his Deputy, Her Excellency Ngo Josephine Piyo, Governor Mutfwang stressed that continuous training and retraining were indispensable to sustainable development, effective public service and institutional continuity.

He noted that professionals currently in service would eventually retire, making it imperative to deliberately prepare younger generations with the knowledge, skills and experience required to assume responsibilities and sustain progress.

Governor Mutfwang commended NITAD for its longstanding contribution to professional development and learning, describing its activities as critical to building a competent, productive and future-ready workforce.

He assured the institute of the Plateau State Government’s readiness to explore stronger areas of partnership. He encouraged civil servants and other professionals in the state to take advantage of NITAD’s training programmes and professional development opportunities.

The Governor also welcomed the decision to host the annual conference in Plateau State, noting that the gathering had provided an important platform not only for professional engagement but also for showcasing the state’s hospitality, favourable climate, rich culture and natural attractions.

Earlier, the President of NITAD, Mr. James Bulus, said the decision to hold the 33rd Annual Conference in Plateau State was deliberate, aimed at challenging negative perceptions about the state and giving participants from across Nigeria an opportunity to experience its peaceful and hospitable environment.

He commended the Plateau State Government for the warm reception accorded participants and expressed sympathy with the government and people of the state over recent security incidents, stressing that such challenges should not define the character of Plateau or overshadow its peaceful and hospitable nature.

He called for greater participation of Plateau State civil servants in professional bodies and continuous learning programmes, emphasising that the changing demands of the workplace require professionals to constantly update their knowledge and skills.

GOVERNOR MUTFWANG HAILS ROTARY INTERNATIONAL’S HUMANITARIAN CONTRIBUTIONS, CALLS FOR DEEPER PARTNERSHIP TO ADVANCE PLATEAU’S DEVELOPMENT

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has commended Rotary International for its sustained commitment to humanitarian service, community development, and improving the well-being of people around the world.

Governor Mutfwang gave the commendation in Jos on Wednesday when he received the District Governor of Rotary International, District 9127, Mr Sikiru Awonikoko, who paid a courtesy visit to the Plateau State Government.

Governor Mutfwang represented by his Deputy, Her Excellency Ngo Josephine Chundung Piyo expressed appreciation to Rotary International for its longstanding contributions to humanity, particularly in the areas of healthcare, education, youth development, sanitation, community empowerment and other interventions that directly impact vulnerable populations.

He noted that the Plateau State Government recognises the critical role played by reputable non-governmental, humanitarian and development organisations in complementing government efforts and extending the reach of public interventions to communities.

According to him, his administration remains committed to building strategic partnerships that deliver tangible benefits to citizens, create opportunities for young people and strengthen support for vulnerable groups across the State.

Governor Mutfwang assured the Rotary delegation of the State Government’s readiness to deepen its partnership with the organisation, stressing that sustainable development cannot be achieved by government alone but requires the collective efforts of government and development partners.

He further highlighted the administration’s development vision, anchored on rebuilding Plateau State through sustained investments in security, human capital development, infrastructure, economic growth and social wellbeing.

He emphasised that stronger collaboration with service-oriented organisations such as Rotary would enhance the delivery of impactful programmes at the grassroots and contribute significantly to improving the quality of life of Plateau citizens.

Earlier, the District Governor of Rotary International, District 9127, Mr Sikiru Awonikoko, said the visit was aimed at strengthening the existing relationship between Rotary and the Plateau State Government while exploring new areas of cooperation that would advance the welfare and development of citizens.

GOVERNOR MUTFWANG URGES CHRISTIAN WOMEN TO BE AMBASSADORS OF CHRIST’S LOVE, UNITY

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has called on Christian women across the Plateau State to embrace their God-given role as ambassadors of Christ’s love, peace, and unity by actively fostering harmony and understanding among diverse communities.

Governor Mutfwang made the call in a goodwill message to participants at the Annual Convention of the Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN), which brought together Christian women from the 17 Local Government Areas of Plateau State.

Speaking on the theme of the convention, “Bridging the Cultural Divide Among Us Through Christ Jesus,” Governor Mutfwang described the theme as timely and highly relevant to the contemporary realities of society.

He noted that Plateau State is richly blessed with diverse cultures, languages, and traditions, adding that while such diversity remains a source of strength and beauty, it must be harnessed to promote understanding, cooperation, and collective progress.

He emphasised that the teachings and example of Jesus Christ provide the foundation for overcoming cultural, ethnic, and social barriers, according to him, Christ demonstrated through His life and ministry that love, compassion, mutual respect, and acceptance transcend all human differences and remain essential for building peaceful and prosperous societies.

Governor Mutfwang urged Christians to see themselves as instruments of reconciliation, stressing that it is the collective responsibility of all believers to build bridges where divisions exist and foster harmony where misunderstandings arise.

He noted that women possess a unique capacity to nurture peace, promote tolerance, and instill values of unity within families and communities.

Governor Mutfwang reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to promoting peaceful coexistence, inclusiveness, and equitable development for all citizens regardless of ethnic, cultural, or religious affiliation.

He further called on women of faith to remain steadfast in prayer for Plateau State and Nigeria while continuing to support initiatives that promote peace, social cohesion, and sustainable development.

In her remarks, the chairperson, WOWICAN, Plateau State Chapter, Mrs Sarah Dalut, noted that women are not called to only pray but stand as instruments of peace, resilience, and positive influence in communities.

Mrs Dalut charged women to bold in confronting social vices such as drug addiction, alcohol abuse, and the menace of insecurity in Plateau State and Nigeria as a whole.

The State CAN Chairman, Rev. Dr Dunka Gomwalk, called on women on the Plateau to seize and utilise the moment of unity to cry unto God for the healing of families and the land.

The convention also featured a thought-provoking theme presentation by Rev. Dr. Gideon Para-Mallam, delivered on his behalf by the Director General of the Plateau State Peace Building Agency, Ms. Julie Sanda, who emphasized the critical role of faith, dialogue, and collective action in fostering unity, peace, and sustainable development across communities.

GOVERNOR MUTFWANG REAFFIRMS HIS ADMINISTRATION’S COMMITMENT TO FREEDOM OF RELIGION, EQUALITY, AND JUSTICE

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of his administration to protecting freedom of religion and belief, promoting equality for all citizens, and ensuring accountability for violations of fundamental rights in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Governor Mutfwang made this known while receiving the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief delegation, who are on an official visit to Jos on Thursday.

The visit forms part of the United Nations’ assessment of issues relating to religious freedom, equality, non-discrimination, and the prevention of religious violence.

Represented by his deputy, Her Excellency, Ngo Josephine Piyo, the Governor emphasized that Plateau State remains a beacon of religious and cultural diversity, where Christians, Muslims, and adherents of indigenous beliefs have coexisted for generations.

He stressed that the Plateau State Government does not discriminate against any individual or group based on religion, ethnicity, race, or background, noting that all residents enjoy equal access to education, healthcare, land, housing, and other social services without prejudice.

“Our administration remains firmly committed to upholding the rights and freedoms guaranteed under the Nigerian Constitution, every citizen is entitled to practice and profess their faith freely, and the government will continue to protect these rights while fostering peaceful coexistence among all communities,” he stated.

GOVERNOR MUTFWANG MOURNS LATE NAOMI SILAS YAKO, DESCRIBES HER AS A WOMAN OF ENDURING FAITH AND IMPACT

The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Mrs. Naomi Silas Yako, describing her death as a significant loss to her family, the Christian community, and society at large.

Governor Mutfwang made this known on Thursday while attending the funeral service held in her honour at ECWA Gospel Church 2, Gada Biyu, Jos.

Late Mrs. Naomi Yako was the beloved wife of Rev. Silas Yako (Rtd.), a renowned preacher and gospel singer whose ministry touched countless lives.

Represented at the service by his deputy, Ngo Josephine Piyo, Governor Mutfwang paid glowing tribute to the deceased, describing her as a woman who served God and humanity with unwavering commitment, humility, and grace.

He urged members of the congregation and the children of the deceased to uphold the values she embodied throughout her lifetime, particularly her steadfast devotion to God, integrity, compassion, and commitment to uplifting others.

“The late Mrs. Naomi Yako was a woman of unwavering faith, integrity, and selfless service. She lived a life of purpose, marked by steadfast devotion to God, profound wisdom, and compassionate leadership.

“Her values not only shaped her immediate family but also inspired countless individuals across Plateau State and beyond.

“As a moral compass and revered mother, her fulfilled life stands as a testament to divine grace and a legacy well lived. I pay tribute to Mrs. Naomi Yako for her strength of character, resilience, and dedication to raising a generation of God-fearing and purpose-driven children who continue to contribute meaningfully to society,” the Governor stated.

Governor Mutfwang prayed for God's comfort and strength upon the bereaved family, while expressing hope that the cherished memories, values, and enduring legacy of Mrs. Naomi Yako would continue to inspire future generations.

Delivering the sermon, Rev. Sunday Kongo reminded the congregation that the Christian faith is founded on the victory of Jesus Christ over death.

He encouraged believers to remain steadfast in their faith, drawing strength from the hope of the resurrection and refusing to be overwhelmed by the uncertainties of life.
