I inspected facilities and selected sheep and goats at the University of Jos as preparations advance for a three-week training in laparoscopic, artificial insemination and embryo transfer scheduled for November 2026.

The animals comprised of Ouda, Balami, Red Sokoto and Sahel breeds. They are currently undergoing quarantine, isolation and health monitoring in line with research and animal-welfare standards.

Led by the TETFund Centre of Excellence in Food Security, University of Jos, in partnership with the U.S. Livestock Genetics Export, Reproduction Specialty Group, Plateau State Government and the Cochran Fellows (Nigeria Chapter), this programme will strengthen the capacity of veterinarians, technicians and livestock professionals.

Our goal is to improve local livestock genetics, increase meat and milk production, empower farmers and ensure that the knowledge and improved breeds remain in Plateau State.

It was a distinct honour to represent His Excellency, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang Esq., The Executive Governor of Plateau State, at the Agriculture Summit Africa 2026, themed "Building the Next Superpower."

I spoke on the remarkable strides and the quiet revolution unfolding in Plateau State's agriculture and livestock sub-sectors, from expanding farmer support programmes to strengthening veterinary and fisheries services across the State, in fulfilment of the administration's commitment to innovation, productivity and private sector collaborations.

I also want to appreciate Sterling Bank for its sustained and impactful support to agriculture across Nigeria, a partnership that continues to unlock growth and opportunity for farmers and agribusiness nationwide.

Plateau State remains firmly on course to lead Africa's agricultural transformation.

I have officially handed over the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to the newly appointed Honourable Commissioner, Hon. Nyam G*i Peter, Esq. I wish him a most successful tenure.

My time at the Ministry was truly rewarding, made memorable by the dedication of my wonderful colleagues, the resilience of the hardworking farmers of Plateau State, and the fatherly guidance of our amiable leader, His Excellency, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, Esq., Executive Governor of Plateau State.

As I step into this new assignment at the Ministry of Livestock Development, Veterinary Services and Fisheries, I pray that our Ebenezer, who has brought us this far, will continue to guide us toward greater achievements for this administration, for Plateau State, and for Nigeria at large.
