The 700kilometres Akwanga to Maiduguri dual six-lane super highway has officially been flagged off .

The flag off ceremony of the fourth legacy project of President Bola Tinubu which was performed by the President in Akwanga, Nasarawa State, saw One Hundred and Eleven Billion Naira released as take-off funds to the contractor, with a directive to mobilize to site within one week.

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang is among many dignitaries from the project's benefitting States that graced the event.

Over 30 years, the single-lane tarred and deplorable Akwanga - Jos road has served as the major vehicular access to and from the nation's capital and as the gateway to the North Eastern corridor.

The first section of the work on the contract stretches 125km from Akwanga–Kaduna–Jos

The construction which is a boost to socioeconomic activities is expected to be delivered with the highest engineering standards, using reinforced concrete technology to ensure durability, with a pledge for transparency throughout ex*****on.

President Bola Tinubu described the road as a critical infrastructure project aimed at stimulating socioeconomic activities along the corridor, referring to it as one of the most important inland passages in the country.

Represented by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress , Nentawe Yilwatda, President Tinubu informed Nigerians that work has also resumed on the Lagos–Calabar Coastal highway, urging contractors to act as development partners by transferring skills and knowledge to Nigerians during construction.

Minister of Works David Umahi gave a chronicle of ongoing road construction under the present administration, emphasizing that President Tinubu’s legacy projects are interconnected, linking the six geopolitical zones of the country.

Umahi thanked state governors for their lobbying efforts that helped stimulate approval for the project.

Speaking on behalf of Governors of project's benefitting States, Governor Caleb Mutfwang and his Nasarawa State counterpart Abdullahi Sule said the road connects borders and promotes commerce,.

Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammad Idris hyped the Tinubu administration for creating the enabling environment to forge development across sectors, with infrastructure as a key driver while calling on Nigerians to keep faith with the Renewed Hope administration.

The Tinubu four legacy projects are the Lagos - Calabar Coastal highway, the Sokoto - Badagry Super Highway, the Trans-sahara Super highway and the Akwanga - Maiduguri Super highway.

TINUBU'S FOUR LEGACY HIGHWAY PROJECTS WILL TRANSFORM NIGERIA'S ECONOMY, STRENGTHEN NATIONAL UNITY — INFORMATION MINISTER

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Four Legacy Highway Projects as bold investments that will transform Nigeria's economy, deepen national integration and create lasting prosperity for millions of Nigerians.

Speaking at the flag-off of Section One Akwanga to Jos, of the Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe Super Highway in Akwanga, Nasarawa State, Idris said the project is another major milestone under the President's Renewed Hope Agenda.

The minister said President Tinubu is not just building roads, he is building economic corridors that will facilitate trade, create jobs, connect communities,and drive inclusive national development.

The Minister highlighted other key achievements of the Tinubu Administration, including reforms that have strengthened investor confidence, expanded access to higher education through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), promoted local industrialisation and improved the nation's economic outlook.

Responding to questions from journalists, the Minister dismissed claims of regional imbalance in federal infrastructure development, stressing that the Legacy Highway Projects span different parts of the country and reflect the President's commitment to inclusive development and national unity.

The president represented by National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, said the project underscores the administration's commitment to using infrastructure as a catalyst for economic transformation.

He urged Nigerians to have with thecpresent administration and support government to help tackle growing insecurity.

Minister of Works, David Umahi, formally flagged off construction of the one hundred and twenty five kilometre Akwanga to Jos section of the seven hundred -kilometre Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe–Yobe–Maiduguri Super Highway.

He noted the project would be delivered in phases to improve transportation, stimulate economic activity and accelerate development across the North Central and North East.

Umahi disclosed that the North Central currently has thirty five major federal road projects and sixty one emergency intervention projects.

He urged contractors to employ local youths and promote skills transfer, while calling on host communities to safeguard the infrastructure.
