ITF-NECA TSDP: OVER 87,000 NIGERIANS CERTIFIED IN AI

The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) have renewed their commitment to bridging Nigeria’s skills gap and creating more employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for young Nigerians.

This was the focus of the 2026 ITF-NECA TSDP Stakeholders’ Dialogue Forum and Outstanding Performance Award Ceremony, held on 22 October 2026 at the NAF Conference Centre and Suites, Abuja.

Speaking at the event, NECA Director-General, Adewale-Smart Oyerinde, disclosed that over 87,000 Nigerians earned practical AI certification in just six months, out of 101,000 registrations.

Representing the ITF Governing Board Chairman, Mrs Mercy Oyewole called for stronger collaboration among government, employers and training institutions to ensure that skills translate into jobs, sustainable businesses and improved livelihoods.

The forum also highlighted the Standardised Vocational Training Programme (SUPA) as a key initiative to improve artisans’ skills, competence and certification.

Through its partnership with NECA, ITF remains committed to developing a skilled workforce and advancing Nigeria’s economic growth.

Cheers, gratitude, and appreciation filled the atmosphere today as ITF contract staff celebrated a salary increase of over 100%.

The staff openly thanked the Director General for prioritizing their welfare and demonstrating leadership that delivers tangible results. During the interaction, the DG also urged staff to support the current Presidency's bid for a second term.
