GUARDS BRIGADE DRIVING SCHOOL GRADUATES DRIVERS BASIC COURSE 4/2022
As part of Guards Brigade efforts to address shortage of professional military drivers within the Brigade and the Nigerian Army, and to ensure that the Brigade is professionally ready to accomplish assigned missions within a joint environment, the Brigade Supply and Transport Training School today 14th April 2022 graduated 77 trained drivers in line with the Nigerian Army Training Directive and the Brigade forecast of event for the year 2022.
The 2022 Basic Driving Course 4 commenced on the 21 January 2022 with theories and practical driving which exposed the trainees to daily driving parade, high way code, engine component parts and tools care. The Trainees were also trained on fire fighting and prevention, workshop procedure, anti ambush drill and convoy driving among others.
Speaking during the occasion, the Special Guest of Honour, Maj Gen Abdulwahab Adelokun Eyitayo Director Campaign Plan Defence Headquarters, while congratulating the participants for the successful completion of the course further commended the Commander Guards Brigade, Brig Gen Muhammed Takuti Usman for the Initiative which he said would reduce the overbearing pressure on the School of Supply and Transport Benin and provide the requisites skills needed for NA drivers especially at this demanding time.
He noted that military driving is different from civil driving as it involves movement of combat vehicle such as armoured personnel carriers which carries weapons as well as other equipment that requires extra coordination by the drivers, gunners and other component occupying the vehicle hence the need for proper training.
The senior Officer urged the graduating personnel to make judicious use of the knowledge gained during the course to ensure that the essence of the training is fulfilled while urging the Brigade Driving School to keep up the good work of turning out professional drivers who are great assets to the force.
Highpoint of the ceremony was the presentation of awards and certificates to participants and outstanding personnel who distinguished themselves throughout the period of the 3 months course. The event was witnessed by the Commander Gaurds Brigade Brig Gen Muhammed Takuti Usman, the Corps Commander Siddi Alao, head of Driving and Standardization Program, Federal Road Safety Commission Abuja, as well as Officers and personnel of the Brigade.
