REFRESHER STEP-DOWN TRAINING ON RICE PARBOILING, PROCESSING, PACKAGING, MARKET LINKAGES AND DIGITAL MARKETING
Peer Leaders and Year 4 Cluster Leaders across Benue, Kaduna, and Nasarawa came together for a dynamic refresher training focused on strengthening their skills in rice parboiling, processing, packaging, market linkages, and digital marketing.
Participants learned good and improved practices for rice parboiling, including proper soaking, heating, steaming, drying, and handling techniques that help improve grain quality, reduce losses, maintain hygiene, and achieve better market value. The training also explored how appropriate processing and packaging can enhance product quality and shelf life, while practical market linkage sessions provided insights into accessing buyers and expanding sales opportunities.
Participants further embraced digital tools and platforms for promoting agro-products, reaching new customers, and improving their visibility in the marketplace.
By strengthening skills from proper rice parboiling and processing to packaging, market access, and digital promotion, the training is equipping Community Partners with practical knowledge to improve product quality, reduce post-harvest losses, increase income opportunities, and build more resilient agro-enterprises.

Scaling Up Agro-Products Marketing for Small Enterprises

As part of the WOFAN ICON2 Project, we just concluded a training across project locations on “Scaling Up Agro-Products Marketing for Small Enterprises” for Micro Produce Marketers (MPMs).
The training strengthened participants’ understanding of effective marketing practices, with key sessions covering customer segmentation, consumer taste panels, and the 6 P’s of Marketing: Product, Price, Process, People, Place, and Promotion.
Participants explored how to better understand their customers, identify consumer preferences, position their products effectively, and apply practical marketing strategies to improve sales and grow their agro-product businesses.
The training is part of ongoing efforts under WOFAN ICON2 to strengthen the capacity of small enterprises and improve market opportunities for agro-product marketers.

PVNL Holds WOFAN ICON2 Q3 Review Meeting

We just concluded the WOFAN ICON2 Quarter Three (Q3) Review Meeting across Kaduna, Nasarawa and Benue States, bringing together the PVNL project team, Extension Workers (EWs), and Facilitators to review activities implemented during the quarter and assess progress against planned targets.

The review focused on key interventions carried out during Q3, highlighting achievements, implementation challenges, lessons learned, and areas requiring further attention. The team also assessed progress across ongoing activities and reviewed priorities for the next quarter.
As part of the meeting, an intermediate training on Agro Scale-Up Marketing was conducted for Facilitators and Extension Workers. The training equipped participants with relevant knowledge and skills to effectively conduct step-down training for farmers and community partners, with emphasis on improving the marketing and promotion of agro-products.
The meeting provided a platform to strengthen coordination, address implementation gaps, enhance the capacity of field teams, and agree on action points to support effective project delivery as the WOFAN ICON2 Project progresses into Q4.
