KADUNA STATE FLAGS OFF HISTORIC SECTIONAL TITLING, A FIRST IN NIGERIA

A historic milestone in property ownership was recorded today in Kaduna State with the official flag-off of the long-awaited Sectional Titling initiative, a groundbreaking reform that will enable owners of shops, apartments, terrace houses, and other individual units within multi-unit developments to obtain legal titles for their specific properties.

The initiative, the first of its kind in Nigeria, is the product of a strategic collaboration between the Kaduna Markets Development and Management Company (KMDMC) and the Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS). It marks a significant breakthrough in land administration and property ownership, opening a new chapter for investors, homeowners, and business owners across the state.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, the Managing Director of KMDMC, Alhaji Ahmed Shehu Haruna, commended the Director General of KADGIS, Dr. Bashir Garba Ibrahim, describing the Sectional Titling initiative as his brainchild and acknowledging his commitment to making the reform a reality.

He also expressed appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, for his unwavering support and political will, noting that previous administrations had attempted to introduce the initiative without success.

In his remarks, the Director General of KADGIS, Dr. Bashir Garba Ibrahim, praised Governor Uba Sani for his foresight and commitment to transforming land administration in Kaduna State. He stated that the administration's reforms have continued to modernize the land sector, improve service delivery, and resolve numerous land-related disputes affecting communities and property owners.

The high point of the event was the presentation of Certificates of Occupancy under the Sectional Titling scheme to the first batch of beneficiaries, amid excitement and celebration by stakeholders in attendance. The presentation underscored the historic significance of the initiative and its potential to enhance property rights, promote investment, and increase the value and security of individually owned units.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Engr. Muhammad Abdul Karim expressed gratitude to Governor Uba Sani, KMDMC, and KADGIS for introducing the initiative, describing it as a major achievement that provides greater security and legal protection for property owners.

The Kaduna State Government has encouraged owners of shops, apartments, terrace houses, and other eligible properties to take advantage of the Sectional Titling programme by processing legal titles for their individual units, thereby securing their investments and strengthening property ownership in the state.

NIGERIA UNION OF PENSIONERS KADUNA STATE BRANCH PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO KADGIS, SEEKS PERMANENT OFFICE

Executives of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners Kaduna State Branch, yesterday paid a courtesy visit to the Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS) under the leadership of its Chairman, Mr. Abuman Ladan.

During the visit, the union appealed to KADGIS for the allocation of land to enable it establish a permanent office for its members.

In his response, the Director General of KADGIS, Dr. Bashir Garba Ibrahim, assured the delegation that the request would receive due consideration. He, however, advised the union to first secure a temporary office space within the Kaduna metropolis while arrangements are made for the provision of land in a suitable location.

Dr. Bashir Garba Ibrahim also proposed the allocation of an Urban Agriculture plot to the union as a means of engaging its members in productive agricultural activities, noting that such an initiative would be beneficial to retirees by promoting active participation in farming and enhancing their well-being.

The executives of the union expressed profound appreciation to the Director General for the thoughtful proposals and the warm reception accorded to them, describing the visit as fruitful and encouraging.

Two stakeholder engagement meetings were held today to resolve disputes concerning property inheritance and an alleged case of encroachment which were all considered with the case of inheritance to be convened again with more details and documents to be provided while that of encroachment was amicably resolved to the satisfaction of all parties involved.

KADUNA STATE GOVERNOR APPROVES LAND ALLOCATION FOR MECHANIC VILLAGE IN ZARIA

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has approved the allocation of three hectares of land to the Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association of Nigeria (NATA), Zaria Branch, for the establishment of a standard mechanic village.

The approval follows an appeal by the association for a permanent site that will enable its members to upgrade their businesses, improve service delivery, and operate in a more organized environment.

The Director General of KADGIS, Dr. Bashir Garba Ibrahim, presented the offer letter to the executives of the association, led by its Chairman, Engr. Magaji Muhammad Dangaladima, Fagacin Zazzau. The chairman expressed profound appreciation to the Kaduna State Government for the gesture, describing it as a major boost to the association and its members.

The establishment of the mechanic village is expected to enhance the operations of automobile technicians, stimulate economic activities in the area, create employment opportunities for residents, and contribute to the continued development of Kaduna State.

Stakeholder engagement meetings for the day featuring different parties with the first being over some plots at Rigasa with customary title over which compensation on compassionate ground will be given after assessment,and the second meeting about a recertification issue at Kinkinau in Kaduna South.

KADGIS Stakeholder engagement meeting today features three different meetings with the first about an access road at Babbar Saura in Millennium City where it was resolved to replan the area so as to have a functional access road.
The DG also warned all development activities to cease immediately until the replanning has been completed with some houses to be regularised.

The second meeting was about a property under contention at Jarkasa area of Malali,which investigations revealed may have been acquired with dubious documents.
It was finally resolved to give compensation on compassionate ground as it was discovered property was sold with dubious documents unknown to the buyer.

Final meeting was over plot allocation at Mahuta down garage which claimants Will be assessed,houses to be regularised and also a warning to stop all developments until process has been completed.

It was a fruitful day of deliberations for all concerned parties with smiles of satisfaction all round.
