COVID-19: The PDP expresses shock Over Kaduna State Government's and APC's lack of preparedness for the dreaded Pandemic...
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),Kaduna State Chapter has expressed shock over the lack of preparedness of the Kaduna State Government, with all the media innuendos and mumbo jumbo, on the deadly COVID-19.
The party is perplexed by what our investigations has discovered on ground in all the hospitals visited. It is a total disgrace that there are no tests kits nor isolation centres in the whole of the State Hospitals visited, thus far.
And since Monday,23rd March,2020, suspected patients of the deadly diseases have been visiting the Barau Dikko Specialists Hospital with symptoms of the Coronavirus, but are turned back home for lack of tests kits, with a promised to call them back as soon as these implements becomes available.
The PDP further expressed that, it is the right of the citizens to know how prepared the government is on this very serious pandemic, after all the incidences across the globe.
It is a shame and a betrayal of public trust for the State Government not to have these facilities on ground, in case of such emergencies.
There is heightened public anxiety over the COVID-19 casualties the world over. And the State Government cannot claim to be ignorant of this.
The PDP is worried that Kaduna State residents are now at crossroads regarding the increase of transmission of this virus, especially as the number of victims has increased within the FCT, Abuja, which is just about 200 kilometers from Kaduna, and a good number of Kaduna residents work in Abuja.
Already, there is heightened public apprehensions on the COVID-19 pandemic. The citizens needs to be updated on issues relating to the coronavirus disease, by the minute! Shutting down of markets, motor parks and the curfew imposed is not enough. The State Government needs to be more proactive!
The party notes that our citizens and residents are distressed that Governor Nasir Elrufai had remained silent on the preparedness and spread of COVID-19 within the State.
Governor Elrufai should as a matter of urgency, update the citizens of Kaduna State and the world on this salient issues and also give palliatives to cushion the effect of the dusk to dawn curfew imposed.
The party also counsels Elrufai to wake up and engage other health professionals and other governors that have so far succeeded in doing so for solutions.
Finally,we advise that the government should also rally with other members of the society for solutions to check the spread of COVID-19 in our dear State.
The party solicited the support of all privileged citizens to draw from the example set by Atiku Abubakar, Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola and other individuals to concert effort towards provision of test kits, medications and facilities while calling on Nigerians to intensify efforts in abiding by government's directives on social distancing, personal hygiene and the curfew imposed to check further spread of the pandemic in the State
