ADC YOUTH LEADERS CALL FOR UNITY AND RESTRAINT OVER KAWO–DOKA GABASAWA ASSEMBLY TICKET

We, Modibbo Sanusi, Leader of the El-Rufai Youth Movement, and Yusuf Muhaska, Leader of the Muhaska Youth Movement, both youth stakeholders within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State and close stakeholders in the Isa Ashiru campaign council, appeal to all ADC youths, particularly those in Kawo and Doka-Gabasawa, to immediately refrain from the ongoing exchange of words and disagreements surrounding the State Assembly ticket.

We understand that there are legitimate concerns and strong emotions surrounding the matter. However, the issue is already before the court of law, and we believe the most responsible course of action is to allow the judicial process to take its course and determine who the legitimate candidate is.

Until the court makes its determination, there is no justification for ADC members and supporters to turn against one another, trade accusations, or allow a disagreement over a ticket to create divisions within the movement.

Our attention should remain focused on the bigger task before us: building a united ADC, protecting our members, strengthening our grassroots structures, and working collectively toward the political objectives of the party.

Across Kaduna State, our members are dealing with serious challenges, including alleged persecution, intimidation and political pressure. These are issues that require solidarity, coordination and collective action. We cannot effectively confront these challenges if we allow internal disagreements to consume our energy.

The strength of the ADC movement lies in its ability to bring together people from different political backgrounds, movements and tendencies under one platform. The El-Rufai Youth Movement, Muhaska Youth Movement and other youth structures may have different histories and areas of influence, but we share a common political platform and a common responsibility to protect the unity of our members.

We therefore call on all our supporters, especially young people in Kawo, Doka-Gabasawa and across Kaduna State, to stop personal attacks, provocative statements and social media exchanges capable of creating unnecessary divisions.

Let the court decide the ticket. Let us decide to remain united.

Whatever the eventual outcome of the judicial process, we must remember that our political relationship and the larger struggle do not end with one ticket. We have a much bigger responsibility to our members, our communities and the ADC movement.

There will always be disagreements in politics. What matters is how maturely we manage them.

We appeal to all youth leaders, aspirants, supporters and stakeholders involved in the matter to exercise restraint, respect one another and avoid statements that could damage relationships that will be needed long after the court case is resolved.

Our message is simple:

No war of words.
No personal attacks.
No division.
Let the court decide.
Let ADC youths remain united.

The challenges before us are bigger than any individual ticket. We should preserve our unity, strengthen our structures and continue working together.

PRESS STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DELIBERATE FABRICATIONS, FAILED BLACKMAIL, AND HISTORICAL REVISIONISM: EL-RUFAI YOUTH MOVEMENT GIVES DEFENCE MINISTER CHRISTOPHER MUSA A 72-HOUR ULTIMATUM TO RETRACT OUTRAGEOUS ALLEGATIONS

The El-Rufai Youth Movement unequivocally condemns the reckless, malicious, and entirely baseless allegations made by the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd), during his recent national television appearance. In an absurd bid to malign the character, stewardship, and enduring legacy of the former Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai (who served meritoriously from 2015 to 2023), Mr. Musa alleged that El-Rufai "deliberately planned the killing of people in Southern Kaduna." It is patently obvious that Musa’s defamatory claims are made in active alignment with Governor Uba Sani’s media machinery—a coordinated, desperate effort to scapegoat El-Rufai and deflect public attention away from the glaring failures and gross incompetence of the current state administration.

A Failed Blackmail That Has Backfired

Musa’s interview was clearly orchestrated with a singular objective: to blackmail, delegitimize, and smear Malam Nasir El-Rufai. However, that sinister objective has collapsed on arrival. The broadcast has backfired spectacularly on the retired general, reflecting poorly on Governor Uba Sani and his cabal of political allies.
Instead of turning the public against Malam, millions of everyday Nigerians—on the streets, across communities, and dominating the media space—have spontaneously risen to defend El-Rufai. This massive organic defense is rooted in genuine public trust, organic credibility, and deep affection for a leader whose transformative strides speak for themselves. This is an authentic goodwill that all the state treasury resources, APC-Uba Sani PR budgets, and hired political proxies can never buy.

The Dangerous Alignment and Divisive Precedents

The underlying hypocrisy of this political axis is impossible to ignore. A government that finds comfort in appointing Zamani Lekwot—who was convicted under the General Ibrahim Babangida regime over the deadly 1992 Zango-Kataf communal violence—to head the Kaduna State Elders Forum tells discerning Nigerians everything they need to know. It exposes their true posture toward historical violence, sectarian appeasement, and justice. To rehabilitate such figures while weaponizing the defence ministry to criminalize El-Rufai’s decisive security reforms is the height of sectional politics. Also Musa is blaming Elrufai for picking a Muslim-Muslim Ticket while still serving in one.

Setting the Record Straight

The claim that Malam Nasir El-Rufai orchestrated killings or fostered ethnic division is an outrageous inversion of documented reality:

1. Security Logistics and Forward Operating Bases:
The El-Rufai administration championed and funded the establishment of military Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) in Southern Kaduna (including Kafanchan), consistently procured operational vehicles and tactical equipment for federal security forces, and established the Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADSVS) to defend all communities equally.

2. Institutional Peacebuilding: The administration established the Kaduna State Peace Commission—the first statutory peace agency in Northern Nigeria—bringing community and religious leaders together to resolve centuries-old communal and farmer-herder crises systematically.

3. Equitable Development: Under El-Rufai, massive urban renewal projects, upgraded primary healthcare centres, and reconstructed public schools were deployed across all three senatorial zones without sectional or tribal bias.

Demands and 72-Hour Ultimatum

We hereby issue a strict 72-hour ultimatum to General Christopher Musa (rtd) to publicly retract his defamatory and inflammatory remarks across national television networks and national dailies, accompanied by an unreserved written apology.

Should he fail to comply within the stipulated 72 hours, we will immediately execute the following steps:

Immediate Legal Action: Instruct our legal team to institute civil defamation and criminal libel proceedings against him in a court of competent jurisdiction to hold him fully accountable for these actionable falsehoods.

International Petitions: Formally petition the international community, diplomatic missions, and global human rights institutions regarding the weaponization of Nigeria’s defence portfolio for sectional proxy warfare. When an official charged with national defence abuses his public platform to fabricate intelligence and peddle partisan propaganda, Nigeria's national security architecture loses all credibility on the global stage.

A Disgrace to High Office Rather than dedicating his full energy to confronting the pressing security challenges threatening the nation, Mr. Musa has reduced the defence portfolio to an attack-dog outfit for local political patronage. His divisive rhetoric raises alarming concerns of ethno-regional chauvinism, echoing dangerous precedents that exploit communal wounds for political survival.
We express our profound gratitude to the millions of fair-minded Nigerians and steadfast El-Rufai'ists across the nation who immediately saw through this desperate propaganda and stood firmly on the side of truth and integrity.

Thank you, Nigeria. Thank you, El-Rufai'ists.

CSP Usman Maibindiga, Uba Sani, and Operation Fushin Kada: Community Policing or Political Thuggery?

In the complex security landscape of Kaduna State, one name has recently surged from the shadows to the headlines: CSP Usman Maibindiga. Recently decorated by Senator Uba Sani following his promotion to Chief Superintendent, Maibindiga was appointed as the Officer in Charge of Operation Fushin Kada, a specialized joint security outfit tasked with tackling banditry and kidnapping. However, beneath the official narrative of crime fighting lies a darker, more partisan accusation. While the Governor praises him for restoring peace, opposition voices and civil rights advocates are painting a different picture, that of a high ranking officer serving as a political enforcer for the APC led government.

While the Fushin Kada unit appears highly efficient at tracking down political dissidents, the statistics for actual violent crime in Kaduna tell a devastating story. Despite the fanfare surrounding Maibindiga’s promotion, kidnapping and killings have reportedly surged across rural Kaduna. In early 2026 alone, over 50 people were kidnapped and several killed in a single weekend across Kajuru and Chikun LGAs. Critics argue there is a discrepancy between the unit’s stated mandate and its operational focus. While bandits reportedly move freely in the forests of Birnin Gwari, the resources of Fushin Kada are alleged to be redirected toward urban centers to monitor and neutralize the influence of the People’s Democratic Party and the African Democratic Congress.

Critics further point to what they describe as a disturbing lack of professional procedure in Maibindiga’s operations. In standard policing, suspects are invited for questioning; under his leadership, they claim individuals are often seized without prior summons. Multiple reports suggest that opposition members are taken from their homes or offices without formal invitations, a tactic critics compare to the very criminal elements the unit was created to combat. Allegations have also surfaced regarding the unit’s role in local bye elections, including claims that PDP candidates and agents were arrested and detained by Fushin Kada operatives just hours before polls opened, thereby influencing electoral outcomes.

Observers also reference Maibindiga’s professional association with suspended DCP Abba Kyari, who was indicted over alleged ties to international fraud and drug trafficking. Critics argue that this connection reflects a style of policing that prioritizes high profile optics and loyalty to political superiors over strict adherence to due process and impartial law enforcement. They contend that if such a blueprint is being followed, Kaduna risks witnessing not the strengthening of security institutions, but the politicization of a specialized security outfit.

The alleged involvement of a security unit in partisan activities, if substantiated, would raise significant concerns about democratic governance and human rights. Advocacy groups have called for closer scrutiny by international observers, including Amnesty International, the United Nations, and the United States and United Kingdom High Commissions. Some advocates are urging that Maibindiga be treated as a person of interest in matters relating to democratic interference, with calls for potential travel restrictions or sanctions against any officers found to have used state resources to suppress political freedoms.

Ultimately, residents of Kaduna deserve a police force that focuses on combating crime rather than being perceived as targeting critics. The legitimacy of ongoing security reforms depends on transparency, professionalism, and impartiality. It is being argued that the Inspector General of Police and the Police Service Commission should thoroughly investigate these allegations of politically motivated arrests to ensure that Operation Fushin Kada fulfills its stated mandate of protecting citizens rather than undermining public trust.
