In Attempting to Frame Atiku’s Age as a Weakness, They Reveal His Political Supremacy!

By AbdulAziz Na’ibi Abubakar

At 78, Atiku Abubakar stands as Nigeria’s political colossus, his age not a liability but a badge of enduring strength, wisdom, and unmatched experience. Critics who clamor for him to step aside in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) primaries, citing his years, unwittingly spotlight his dominance, a leader whose political prowess and vast network make him the unrivaled choice to lead Nigeria in the high-stakes 2027 election.

Atiku’s four-decade political journey has forged a legacy that towers over his peers. As Nigeria’s last truly effective vice president, he didn’t just serve, he shaped governance, mentoring governors, senators, National Assembly members, and state legislators. His political network, a sprawling web of loyalty and trust, spans every region of Nigeria. This isn’t merely influence; it’s a masterclass in grassroots mobilization and leadership that no aspirant can rival. Atiku’s ability to command loyalty stems from years of building people, not just platforms.

The baseless narrative of “dollarisation” in primaries is a desperate attempt to tarnish his record. Political victories are won through relationships, not cash. Atiku’s triumphs in the PDP’s 2019 and 2023 primaries weren’t bought, they were earned through a network that rewarded his decades of investment in Nigeria’s political fabric. Rivals who poured thousands of dollars per delegate still couldn’t unseat him, proving that Atiku’s strength lies in his people, not his purse.

The focus on Atiku’s age reeks of political cowardice. If younger aspirants lack the mettle to challenge him in the ADC primaries, how can they face the APC’s formidable machine and Bola Tinubu in 2027, an election tipped to be Nigeria’s most contentious yet? Atiku’s age is a testament to his resilience; his health and vigor defy skeptics. He is a battle-tested strategist, ready to navigate Nigeria through its turbulent future.

The ADC must seize this moment. Atiku Abubakar isn’t just a candidate, he’s a political institution. His experience, network, and vision make him Nigeria’s best hope to defeat the APC and deliver transformative leadership.

Attempts to discredit him only amplify his supremacy, proving that Atiku is not just the ADC’s path to victory but Nigeria’s beacon for progress in 2027.
