MATAWALLE MOURNS THE DEATH OF ALHAJI SANI LAWAN KOFAR-MATA

The Director-General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Alhaji Sani Lawan Kofar-Mata, who died today after a brief illness.

Alhaji Sani Lawan Kofar-Mata, aged 70, is survived by three wives and 15 children.

Until his death, Alhaji Sani Lawan Kofar-Mata was a former Executive Secretary of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board.

In a condolence message to the deceased’s family, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, on behalf of the Board’s management, members, and entire staff, prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and admit him into Aljannatul Firdaus.

Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle further called on members of the deceased’s family to remain united, uphold peace, and support one another during this difficult period.

The Director-General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Alhaji Salisu Abdullahi Gaya, who died yesterday after a brief illness.

Alhaji Salisu Abdullahi Gaya, aged 55, is survived by his wife and three children.

Until his death, he was a staff member of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), where he served at the Kano Zonal Office.

During a condolence visit to the deceased’s family, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and admit him into Aljannatul Firdaus.

The Director-General was accompanied on the visit by a delegation from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, comprising the Director of Administration, Alhaji Alidu Shuti; the Director, States and Zones, Malam Muhammad Ahmad Shira; the Director of Planning, Alhaji Ibrahim Mahmud; and the Special Adviser to the Chairman of the National Hajj Commission, Alhaji Muhammad Maigari.

Alhaji Matawalle further called on the deceased’s family members to remain united, uphold peace, and support one another during this difficult period.

Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board Reaffirms 25 September 2026 as Final Deadline for 2027 Hajj Registration

The Director General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, has reaffirmed that 25 September 2026 remains the final deadline for the payment of the Hajj deposit and registration for the 2027 Hajj. He emphasized that no intending pilgrim will be allocated a Hajj seat after the deadline.

Alhaji Matawalle made this known during a meeting with the 44 Local Government Hajj Centre Officers held at the Board's Conference Hall.

He recalled that the Board had earlier announced ₦8 million as the Hajj deposit for the 2027 pilgrimage and fixed 25 September 2026 as the closing date for registration.

The Director General urged all intending pilgrims to complete their payments and registration before the deadline to secure their Hajj seats. He stressed that there will be no extension of the registration period and no additional allocation of Hajj seats after the closing date.

Alhaji Matawalle reaffirmed the Board's commitment to ensuring a smooth, transparent, and well-coordinated Hajj operation. He also encouraged all prospective pilgrims to take advantage of the registration period by complying with all the necessary requirements before the deadline.

Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board Commences 2027 Hajj Registration, Fixes Initial Deposit at ₦8 Million Naira.

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has officially commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage and announced an initial deposit of Eight Million Naira (₦8,000,000) for all intending pilgrims from the state.

The announcement was made by the Director General of the Board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, during a press briefing held at the Board's Conference Hall in Kano.

According to the Director General, the decision followed extensive consultations and careful consideration aimed at ensuring early planning and effective coordination for the 2027 Hajj exercise.

He disclosed that the sale of Hajj seats and the payment process commenced on Sunday, 12 July 2026, and will close on 26 September 2026. He urged all intending pilgrims to complete their registration and payment within the stipulated period to avoid last-minute inconveniences and to enable the Board to make adequate preparations for a successful pilgrimage.

Alhaji Matawalle explained that the Board has established a transparent and orderly payment process. He stated that all payments must be made through bank drafts, which are to be submitted to the Local Government Hajj Centre Officers across Kano State. He further advised intending pilgrims to adhere strictly to the official procedures approved by the Kano State Government and to avoid dealing with unauthorized individuals or agents.

The Director General reaffirmed the Board's commitment to providing efficient, transparent, and quality services to ensure that pilgrims from Kano State perform the sacred pilgrimage in comfort, safety, and dignity.

He also expressed appreciation to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, for his unwavering support and commitment to the welfare of pilgrims. He equally thanked religious leaders, stakeholders, and the people of Kano State for their continued cooperation and confidence in the Board.

The Director General concluded by praying that Almighty Allah accepts the intentions of all prospective pilgrims, grants them the opportunity to perform an accepted Hajj, and returns them safely to their families.

KANO STATE PILGRIMS WELFARE BOARD URGES NAHCON TO PREVENT DELAYS IN AIRLIFTING PILGRIMS

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has called on the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to ensure there are no delays by air carriers during the airlift of intending pilgrims for the upcoming Hajj exercise.

The Director General of the Board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, made this appeal while receiving a delegation from NAHCON on an official visit to Kano.

He emphasized that the Board has completed all necessary preparations for intending pilgrims and stressed the importance of timely airlift operations to avoid inconvenience and ensure a smooth Hajj exercise.

“We have finalized all arrangements for our intending pilgrims and expect that there will be no unnecessary delays from air carriers when the airlifting begins,” Matawalle said.

Earlier, the Head of Delegation and NAHCON Commissioner for the North-West Zone, Sheikh Muhammad Bin Usman, explained that the team was in Kano to assess the condition of facilities provided for intending pilgrims in the state.

He noted that the delegation had toured several states across the North-West region to ensure that all facilities are in proper working condition for the benefit of pilgrims.

Sheikh Muhammad Bin Usman assured the Board that concerns regarding potential delays by air carriers would be communicated to the national headquarters for prompt action.

Also speaking, the NAHCON Zonal Director for Kano Zone, Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad Kalgo, commended the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board for its well-organized arrangements and preparedness for the Hajj operations.

He further encouraged the Board to sustain its enlightenment and sensitization programmes for intending pilgrims, particularly in the area of Hajj induction.

KANO STATE PILGRIMS WELFARE BOARD CONTINUES PROCESSING OF YELLOW CARDS FOR PILGRIMS

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a smooth and efficient pilgrimage process as it continues the processing of yellow cards for intending pilgrims.

The Director-General of the Board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, made this known today shortly after paying a courtesy visit to the Port Health Services Office in Kano.

Speaking after the meeting, Alhaji Matawalle disclosed that, following discussions with the Kano State Coordinator of Port Health Services, arrangements have been put in place to ensure that the issuance of yellow cards this year will be well-organized and seamless, unlike in previous exercises.

He emphasized that the Board has made strategic arrangements in collaboration with Port Health Services to ensure that all pilgrims are duly processed and issued their yellow cards without difficulty.

He further assured intending pilgrims that the Board remains committed to serving them efficiently and promptly.

Earlier, the Kano State Coordinator of Port Health Services, Mr. Patrick Achenneje, expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as timely and important.

He assured the Board of his office’s full cooperation and pledged to do everything possible to ensure that the processing of yellow cards is completed without delay.

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board urges all intending pilgrims to cooperate with officials and comply with all necessary requirements to facilitate a hitch-free process.
