TECHNOLOGY INCUBATION CENTRE KANO PARTICIPATED AT EMPOWERMENT POETRY FOR CHANGE
(A celebration of Women's Economic Empowerment)
The event was organised by Fable Advisory and Isa Wali Empowerment Initiative, in collaboration with other partners, it brought together Women from diverse backgrounds and senior secondary schools students into a competition to share their stories and struggles through poetry.
The competition involves eight (8) public secondary schools within and out of Kano metropolis auch as
GGSS Hausawa;GGSS Ajingi; GGC Kano; GGSS; Dorayi Babba ; GSS Gwarzo
GGSS Rano; GGSS Dambatta; Rumfa College .
The program commence with opening remarks by Dr Ruqayya (Head theatre and performing arts Bayero University Kano), followed by Goodwill messages from various stakeholders on women development activities.
The competition commenced with a student representing each school.
The participants made presentations on the need to support women empowerment by using poetic language supported with physical gestures and demonstrations with observers given applauses.
After the first round of the competition, 6 schools proceeded to the next level.
The second round allowed the participants to present on fresh and more elaborate issues regarding the women Empowerment.
At the third and final round, 4 schools continued with more analysis on the topic being discussed.
At the end winners emerged as follows:
1st position ---- GGSS Hausawa
2nd position ---- Rumfa College
3rd position ---- GGSS Dorayi Babba
AWARDS
The champion was given a gift of T shirt & face cap plus 50,000 for the school's empowerment.
2nd position was given a token gift of T shirt & Face cap and 30,000 for the school's empowerment.
3rd position was given a T shirt & 20,000 for the school's empowerment.
Consolation prizes were distributed to all the other participants.
At closing of the event,the sponsor express delight at the level of the participants on the artistic and skillful display of poetic language in bringing out importance of women empowerment. they therefore promise to fully sponsor these 8 schools that participated to the National competition coming up later in the year.
