SENSITIZATION MEETING WITH KANO STATE SEVEN (7) SELECTED INNOVATORS AHEAD OF THE 2026 NEXTGEN INNOVATION CHALLENGE BOOTCAMP.

The Centre Manager, Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) Kano, Mrs. Fatimah Evuti Mahmud, convened a special sensitization meeting with innovators from across Kano State as part of preparations for the 2026 NEXTGEN Innovation Challenge.

The meeting, held on Monday, 13th July 2026, brought together vibrant young innovators, both men and women, representing diverse sectors of the economy with innovative products and solutions already making significant impact in the marketplace.

The session featured extensive discussions on innovation development, technical frameworks, commercialization strategies, market viability, scalability, job creation, and investment readiness. The objective was to adequately prepare the innovators for the upcoming global competition and position their innovations to attract local and international investors.

During the meeting, each innovator delivered a presentation on their innovation, outlining its uniqueness and impact.

The Centre Manager, supported by members of the management team, carefully reviewed each presentation, provided constructive feedback, and offered strategic guidance aimed at strengthening the participants' pitches and enhancing their competitiveness at the international level.

The NEXTGEN Innovation Challenge is a flagship initiative conceived by the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), Engr. Dr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji. The programme is designed to identify, nurture, and promote innovative Nigerian youths by providing them with opportunities to showcase their ideas before local and international investors, thereby fostering entrepreneurship, technology commercialization, job creation, and sustainable economic development.

REPORT ON PARTICIPATION OF TECHNOLOGY INCUBATION CENTRE (TIC) KANO, AT THE KACCIMA–KEYSTONE BANK SME LEATHER SUPPORT PROGRAMME MARKET PLACE AND CLOSING CEREMONY.

The Centre Manager, Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) Kano, Mrs. Fatimah Evuti Mahmud, accompanied by some members of the Centre's Management Team, participated in the KACCIMA–Keystone Bank SME Leather Support Programme Market Place and Closing Ceremony held in Kano.

The programme was organized by the Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA) in collaboration with Keystone Bank as part of efforts to support Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) within the leather value chain through capacity building, networking, market linkage, and business support initiatives.

During the event, the Centre Manager delivered a goodwill speech as a Special Guest. In her address, she commended KACCIMA and Keystone Bank for organizing the programme and creating opportunities for entrepreneurs to enhance their businesses and improve their competitiveness.

She highlighted the vast potential of Nigeria's leather industry, particularly in Kano State, noting the availability of raw materials, skilled manpower, and the long-standing reputation of Kano as a hub for leather production and processing.

The Centre Manager also identified some of the major challenges affecting the sector, including inadequate access to modern equipment, limited financing opportunities, poor market access, and insufficient product standardization. She emphasized the need for stronger collaboration among government agencies, financial institutions, business associations, and entrepreneurs to address these challenges.

Furthermore, she outlined the role of the Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) Kano under the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) in supporting entrepreneurs through the provision of affordable workspaces, business advisory services, technology support, training opportunities, and market linkage initiatives.

She encouraged participants to embrace innovation, adopt modern technologies, maintain quality standards, and explore local and international market opportunities to improve productivity and business sustainability.

Tour of Exhibition Stands
Following the formal presentations, the Centre Manager and members of the management team participated in the tour of the exhibition stands where various entrepreneurs and SMEs showcased their leather products and innovations.

The exhibition provided an opportunity to interact with participants, assess the quality and diversity of products on display, and discuss potential areas of support and collaboration. The team observed a wide range of leather products including footwear, bags, belts, wallets, and other fashion accessories, demonstrating the creativity and entrepreneurial potential within the sector.

The Centre Manager commended the exhibitors for their commitment to quality and innovation and encouraged them to continue improving their products to meet both local and international market standards.

The participation of the Centre Manager and Management Team at the KACCIMA–Keystone Bank SME Leather Support Programme further strengthened the relationship between TIC Kano and key stakeholders in the leather industry. The event provided an avenue to showcase the services of TIC Kano, promote entrepreneurship, and explore opportunities for future collaboration aimed at supporting SMEs and advancing economic development.

SHE-FARMERS COOPERATIVE PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO TIC KANO, STRENGTHEN COLLABORATION.

The Kano State Chapter of the She-Farmers Cooperative on Wednesday, 10th June, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Center.

The She-Farmers Cooperative is an Association dedicated to supporting rural women engaged in farming , micro-scale agricultural enterprises through various empowerment initiatives such as capacity building in modern farming techniques, processing and Access to market.

Speaking during the visit, the Kano State Chairperson of the Cooperative, Dr. Maimuna A. Habib, who led the delegation, highlighted the organization's core areas of intervention, which include capacity building, empowerment, and market access for women farmers. She explained that the visit was aimed at strengthening and revitalizing the existing partnership between the Cooperative and TIC Kano to achieve greater impact and sustainable outcomes for women in agribusiness.

In her response, the Center Manager, Mrs. Fatima Evuti Mahmud, warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for the Cooperative's commitment to empowering women in agriculture. She reaffirmed TIC Kano's readiness to sustain and deepen its collaboration with the organization.
Mrs. Mahmud noted that TIC Kano is home to several women entrepreneurs operating successful agriculture-based enterprises and emphasized the Centre's commitment to supporting initiatives that promote entrepreneurship, innovation, and economic empowerment among women.

She further proposed the organization of a joint sensitization workshop targeting local women involved in agribusiness. According to her, such an initiative would enhance awareness, build entrepreneurial capacity, and promote business sustainability among potential beneficiaries across the state.

The visit concluded with both organizations expressing their commitment to fostering a productive partnership geared towards empowering women, strengthening agribusiness development, and contributing to economic growth in Kano State.

TIC KANO ON AIR AT EXPRESS RADIO FM 90.3.

As part of efforts to enhance public awareness and sensitization on the Technology Incubation Programme, the Centre Manager, Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) Kano, Mrs. Fatima Evuti Mahmud, featured live on the popular current affairs programme, "Gari Ya Waye", aired on Express Radio FM 90.3, Kano, on Wednesday, 10th June, 2026.

The programme, conducted in Hausa language, enjoys a wide listenership across Kano State and beyond, providing an interactive platform where listeners contribute and seek clarifications through phone-in participation.

The theme of the discussion was
"Promotion and Sensitization of the Technology Incubation Centre's Entrepreneurship and Technology_ Development Initiatives.

During the programme, the Centre Manager extensively enlightened listeners on the mandate and activities of the Technology Incubation Centre, highlighting the incubation process, admission requirements, stages of incubation, and the numerous benefits available to entrepreneurs under the scheme. She also shared some of the Centre's success stories, showcasing how innovation-driven enterprises have been nurtured into viable businesses through the TIC programme.

Furthermore, discussions focused on the challenges facing technology incubation and entrepreneurship development, as well as strategies for strengthening innovation, technology commercialization, job creation, and wealth generation in the State and the nation at large.

TIC KANO VISITS NEIGHBOURHOOD SECURITY WATCH, SEEKS STRATEGIC SECURITY COLLABORATION.

The Centre Manager of the Technology Incubation Centre (TIC), Kano, Mrs. Fatima Evuti Mahmud, on Monday, 8th June 2026, led members of the Centre's management team on a courtesy visit to the Kano State Neighbourhood Security Watch, Tarauni Local Government Command, as part of efforts to strengthen security collaboration and promote a safer business environment.

The command office is situated adjacent to the TIC Kano complex.
In her remarks, Mrs. Mahmud stated that the visit was necessitated by the critical role security plays in safeguarding lives, property, and investments. She described TIC Kano as a vibrant entrepreneurial hub where production, innovation, and business activities take place round the clock, making effective security measures indispensable.

The Centre Manager emphasized the need for a mutually beneficial partnership between TIC Kano and the Neighbourhood Security Watch to enhance security surveillance and ensure a conducive environment for entrepreneurs, staff, and visitors within the Centre.
Responding, the Commandant of the Tarauni Neighbourhood Security Watch expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as timely and commendable. He lauded TIC Kano for its contribution to entrepreneurship development, job creation, and youth empowerment through the provision of an enabling environment for business growth and innovation.

The Commandant further noted that considering the strategic location of the Centre and its proximity to the command office, it was imperative for both organizations to work closely in strengthening security surveillance within the area. He outlined various measures and communication channels through which the proposed collaboration could be effectively implemented to enhance security around the Centre and its environs.
Both parties expressed their commitment to fostering a productive partnership, with a return visit by the Neighbourhood Security Watch scheduled in the near future to finalize modalities for the collaboration.

KANO STATE GOVERNMENT REAFFIRMS SUPPORT FOR TIC KANO AS COLLABORATION IS STRENGTHENED.

The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Technology Incubation Centre (TIC), Kano, in achieving its mandate of technology commercialization, entrepreneurship development, and job creation across the State.

This assurance was given by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hon. Umar Faruk Ibrahim, while receiving the Centre Manager, Hajiya Fatima Evuti Mahmud, and her management team during a courtesy visit to his office on Thursday, 4th June, 2026.

The visit formed part of the strategic stakeholder engagement and outreach initiatives embarked upon by the new Centre Manager since assuming office, aimed at strengthening existing partnerships and exploring new areas of collaboration with key institutions and government agencies.

Speaking during the meeting, the SSG described the Technology Incubation Centre as a well-known and valued institution within Kano State, acknowledging its contributions to innovation, enterprise development, and economic growth.

"The Technology Incubation Centre is a household name as far as the Kano State Government is concerned. We are aware of the commendable work being done by the Centre in nurturing innovation and supporting entrepreneurs," he stated.

Hon. Ibrahim further pledged to facilitate the sponsorship of young innovators from Kano State to participate in this year's NextGen Innovation Challenge. He also promised to explore avenues for addressing the persistent power challenges facing the Centre, support the rehabilitation of its grounded utility vehicle, and facilitate the training of youths and women in line with the empowerment agenda of the Abba Gida-Gida Administration first agenda policy,"Kano First "

Earlier in her remarks, the Centre Manager, Hajiya Fatima Evuti Mahmud, expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded to her team and described the visit as both timely and significant.

She highlighted the historical evolution of the Technology Incubation Programme (TIP) and the role of TIC Kano in fostering innovation-driven enterprises. She also underscored the importance of state government support in the development of incubation centres nationwide, noting that such interventions have enabled the incubation of thousands of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), leading to the creation of numerous direct and indirect employment opportunities.

The Centre Manager appealed for enhanced support from the Kano State Government in the areas of infrastructure development, provision of industrial parks for graduates and emerging entrepreneurs, and other collaborative initiatives that would further strengthen the Centre's capacity to deliver on its mandate.

Furthermore, she solicited the State Government's support for the forthcoming Next-Gen Innovation Challenge scheduled for October 2026, expressing confidence that Kano innovators would excel and make the State proud if given the opportunity to compete on national and global platforms.

The meeting featured fruitful discussions on areas of mutual interest, interactive sessions, prayers, and the taking of group photographs.

NEW CENTER MANAGER OF TIC KANO MEETS WITH ENTREPRENEURS AND STAFF.

In her determined effort to reposition the Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) Kano and improve its operations for greater impact, the newly appointed Centre Manager, Hajiya Fatimah Evuti Mahmud, on Tuesday, 19th May 2026, presided over a joint meeting with entrepreneurs and staff of the Centre.

The Centre’s Multipurpose Conference Hall was filled to capacity as both resident and extended entrepreneurs gathered to demonstrate solidarity and offer sincere advice and support to the new management. Participants also expressed appreciation for the numerous initiatives of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) aimed at improving their businesses and livelihoods.

The Centre Manager, accompanied by her management team, expressed delight at the impressive turnout of entrepreneurs, particularly young men and women who are thriving in various business ventures under the mentorship and support of the NBTI.

Several important agenda items were deliberated upon during the meeting, including opening prayers, self-introduction, Chairman’s remarks, incubation status, prospects and challenges, way forward, suggestions from participants, closing remarks, and prayers.

Highlights of the meeting included interactive discussions, question and answer sessions, presentations, group photographs, and goodwill prayers for the success of the new administration.

TIC KANO PARTICIPATES AT ENGAUSA GLOBAL HUB SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME ON T-VET TRAINING AND PRESENTATION OF DESKTOP COMPUTERS TO TIC KANO

The Centre Manager Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) Kano Fatimah Evuti Mahmud and the Management participated in the Engausa Global Hub sensitization programme on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (T-VET) aimed at enhancing skills development, entrepreneurship, and digital empowerment among youths and entrepreneurs.

The program which was conducted today at the Center's Multipurpose Conference Hall, provided valuable insights into modern vocational training opportunities, innovation development, and capacity building strategies that can contribute to sustainable economic growth and self-reliance. Participants were enlightened on the importance of T-VET in promoting practical skills acquisition and employment generation.

As part of Engausa Global Hub's Social Responsibility Services and in recognition to the immense contribution of the TIP to the development of the Center's entrepreneurs, the MD/CEO Engr Mustapha Habu Ringim donated two (2) desktop computer systems to the Centre to support administrative and operational activities for more effective work ex*****on. The gesture is expected to improve office productivity, communication, and digital operations within the Centre.

The Centre Manager and management of TIC Kano received the computers and appreciated Engausa Global Hub for the support and reaffirmed its commitment towards strengthening partnerships that promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and technological advancement.
