Ahead of tomorrow’s World Environment Day, REMASAB today organized the 1,000-Man March for Operation Kano Tsaf-Tsaf at Kofar Kudu, Emir’s Palace, Kano, which brought together thousands of participants committed to promoting a cleaner and healthier environment.

I was honored to be joined by the Honourable Commissioner of the Kano State Ministry of Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Dahir M. Hashim, as we carried out road cleaning activities, tree planting, and public sensitization on the importance of environmental sanitation and proper waste management.

I sincerely appreciate the support and solidarity of the Honourable Commissioner, as well as the dedication.

Appreciation also goes to my friend the MD Kano Sustainable Project, members of the coalition for Climate Change Governance, KIWMA and hard work of all REMASAB staff and volunteers who contributed to the success of this important initiative.

The exercise is in line with the commitment of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, to ensure a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Kano State.

Our attention has been drawn to a false and misleading report circulating on social media and broadcast by Dala FM Kano, claiming that REMASAB workers are owed salaries and receive only ₦10,000 as salary.

We categorically reject these allegations as false, baseless, and intended to mislead the public and tarnish the reputation of REMASAB.

It is unfortunate that such claims were published without any effort to verify the facts with the management of the Board. Responsible journalism demands accuracy, fairness, and proper verification.

For the avoidance of doubt, the sanitation workers engaged by REMASAB are casual personnel. Under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Kano State Government has settled inherited outstanding liabilities and significantly improved their welfare and doubled their allowances by hundred percent.

REMASAB hereby calls on to immediately retract the false publication and issue a public apology to the Board for the damage caused by the dessimination of the unverified information.

The public is advised to disregard the false publication and rely only on verified information released.

In line with the commitment of His Excellency Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Executive Governor of Kano State, towards ensuring a cleaner and healthier Kano during the 2026 Eid Kabir celebrations, today we undertook a massive waste evacuation exercise across almost all major roads within the metropolis, including Unguwar Marmara, Jakara Asibitin Sabo, Bakin Zuwo, Dandago, BUK Road, and other strategic locations.

The operation was aimed at maintaining environmental cleanliness, promoting public health, and ensuring a pleasant atmosphere for residents and visitors during the festive period.

This effort reflects our continuous dedication to a cleaner Kano and our resolve to sustain environmental sanitation across the state.
