I made this call during our engagement with ambassadors of the European Union and our esteemed international partners during their visit to Katsina State for the 2026 Eid-el-Fitr Sallah celebrations. The discussions were highly productive and forward-looking, focusing on strengthening partnerships, deepening collaboration, and unlocking new opportunities for sustainable growth and shared prosperity in Katsina State.

I reaffirmed our administration’s commitment to an inclusive system of governance that prioritizes sustainable development, economic growth, and shared prosperity for our people. We are creating a business-friendly environment where investments can thrive, partnerships can grow, and innovation can flourish.

Katsina State today stands as one of Nigeria’s most conducive destinations for investment and collaboration, particularly in agriculture, education, technology, and women empowerment. Through our community-driven approach, we are ensuring that development is not only impactful but also owned and sustained by our people.

Unveiling Masterplans for Katsina, Daura and Funtua

Today, I unveiled the 15-Year Masterplans for Katsina, Daura, and Funtua, another decisive step toward building modern, organised, and economically vibrant urban centres across Katsina State.

This action has become necessary because our population is growing rapidly and urbanisation is accelerating. With the state’s population projected to rise from about 12 million to over 21 million by 2040, the pressure on land, housing, roads, water systems, and public services will intensify. Without proper planning, such growth can lead to congestion, informal settlements, environmental degradation, and rising social pressures.

These masterplans provide a structured response to that reality. They will guide land use, transportation systems, housing expansion, commercial development, infrastructure provision, and environmental protection so that growth happens in an orderly, sustainable, and well-coordinated manner.

They also ensure that development does not happen by chance, but by design, creating cities that support business, attract investment, generate jobs, and improve the quality of life of our people.

To provide legal backing for implementation, I have also signed the Katsina State Urban Planning Areas Order. This Executive Order, which takes immediate effect, provides the legal framework to transform these visionary plans into enforceable action by empowering relevant authorities to designate, regulate, and manage planning areas effectively.

With strong legal backing, budgetary support, and stakeholder engagement, we are laying the foundation for cities that are resilient, inclusive, and prepared for the future.

Our goal is to ensure that the next generation inherits well-planned communities, not unregulated expansion.

Today in Abuja, we took a decisive step toward restoring dignity, stability, and opportunity for displaced citizens across Northwest Nigeria.

Alongside my brother, Governor Dauda Lawal, and under the platform of the Northwest Governors’ Forum, we officially launched the Northwest IDP Policy and State Action Plan (SAP) on Durable Solutions, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Beyond unveiling policy documents, we also announced the establishment of a Social Development Unit within the Northwest Governors’ Forum Secretariat. This unit will drive regional coordination, monitoring, peer learning, and the scaling of durable solutions across all seven Northwest states, ensuring that our commitments translate into measurable improvements in people’s lives.

Displacement in our region is not only a humanitarian concern, it is a structural development challenge. Our priority now is to support safe and dignified return or integration, rebuild livelihoods, strengthen social cohesion, and restore economic opportunities in affected communities.

This launch signals that the Northwest is ready for more collaboration with the Federal Government, development partners, and institutions such as the African Development Bank to move from policy to implementation.

We are moving from promises to action.
Displacement must not define our people’s future, resilience, recovery, and shared prosperity will.

I extend my profound appreciation to the Honourable Ministers — Dr. Bernard Doro, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction; Engr. Abubakar Momoh, Minister of Regional Development; and Dr. Suwaiba Ahmad, Minister of State for Education — as well as the UN Resident Coordinator, Mohamed Fall, and the UNDP Resident Representative in Nigeria, Elsie Attafuah, for their invaluable support and partnership throughout this journey under the auspices of the United Nations and the United Nations Development Programme.

Gwamnatin Jihar Katsina ta bayyana cewa tana shirin ficewa daga Kamfanin Rarraba Wutar Lantarki na Kano (KEDCO) yayin da take kara habaka shirin samar da wutar lantarki mai zaman kanta a fadin kananan hukumomi da al’ummomin jihar.

Mai ba Gwamnan Jihar Katsina shawara na musamman kan harkokin Wuta da Makamashi, Dakta Hafis Ibrahim, ne ya bayyana hakan a wana tattaunawa da manema labarai da aka gudanar a Katsina karshen mako.

Dakta Hafis ya ce gwamnatin jihar na da burin rage kudin wutar lantarki da ake biya ta hannun KEDCO kafin karshen shekara mai zuwa.

Ya bayyana cewa wani cikakken bincike kan makamashi da gwamnatin jihar ta gudanar ya nuna cewa akwai matsanancin karancin makamashi a sassan jihar, inda miliyoyin al’ummar Katsina ba su da damar samun wutar lantarki yadda ya kamata.

“A bisa sakamakon wannan bincike, mun gano cewa jihar Katsina na fama da karancin makamashi, kuma muna aiki tukuru domin fitar da jihar gaba daya daga wannan hali,” in ji shi.

Dakta Hafis ya kara da cewa shirin makamashin jihar ya ta’allaka ne gaba daya kan amfani da makamashi mai sabuntawa. Ya ce gwamnatin jihar na hadin gwiwa da kamfanonin kera kayayyakin wuta na asali a birnin Riyadh, Masarautar Saudiyya, domin samar da na’urorin rarraba wuta guda 200, wanda zai taimaka wajen cimma burin samar da isasshen wuta a fadin jihar.

Ya ce cikin shekaru biyu da s**a gabata, gwamnatin jihar ta samu raguwar kashi 93 cikin 100 na kudin wutar lantarki a manyan cibiyoyin gwamnati ta hanyar girke tsarin samar da wutar hasken rana mai karfin megawatt 20.1 a cibiyoyi 11 na gwamnati da na jama’a.

A cewarsa, domin tabbatar da tsaron makamashi, dukkanin kananan sassan zabe 361 na jihar za su fara cin gajiyar cikakkiyar wutar lantarki nan ba da dadewa ba. Ya kara da cewa jihar na bukatar megawatt 70 domin samun wadatacciyar wuta, inda zuwa yanzu an riga an girke kusan megawatt 30.
