My younger sister was about to get married when she started seeing different messages.
Messages of threats.
Everyday, she would come across them.
At her workplace, she would see them. By her window, she would see them.
When she could no longer keep silent, she told us.
My parents and I.
The contents of the messages were warnings, threats against her proposed marriage.
Soon enough, we started to see them too.
We would wake up and open our gate only for us to see a letter laid on the ground.
"Don't get married. Discontinue your plans! Or you will be killed. " it read.
We began to panic. We prayed to catch the unknown person.
My sister became afraid. She even almost went ahead to call off the wedding.
But my parents decided against it.
They promised to find a solution to the threatening messages.
"Ada, I'm scared. I don't want to die. " she always told me.
But all I could do was to shake my head because I still shocked.
We neglected all the texts from unknown numbers, messages and went ahead with the wedding.
As the day for the wedding drew near, the messages, letters increased.
On the day of the wedding, everything was going smoothly.
We had even forgotten the past events.
When we suddenly heard gunshots before they could take the vows.
Everywhere scattered. The congregation all left.
The gunmen fired on and a bullet hit my sister's leg and she fell, screaming.
I cried. One of the gunmen looked at me.
That wasn't the plan. I only told them to frighten everyone and drive them from holding the wedding.
I didn't want my younger sister to get married before I do.
I warned them not to hurt anyone but they did.
