On this sacred day, we are not just celebrating with meat and merriment, we are remembering the ultimate symbol of obedience and faith — the willingness of *Prophet Ibrahim (AS)* to sacrifice his beloved son, and the submission of *Prophet Ismail (AS)* to the divine will. It is a reminder that greatness begins with sacrifice, trust, and purpose.

*The Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW)* taught us that real leadership is rooted in humility, compassion, and service to the people. He led by example, bearing hardship so his Ummah could find light. Efforts to discredit Seyi Tinubu politically motivated – NAPS president

The President of the National Association of Polytechnic Students, Eshiofune Paul-Oghayan, has come out strongly in defence of Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, who was accused of interfering in the affairs of the National Association of Nigerian Students by a factional president, Atiku Abubakar Isah.

While speaking exclusively with Arewa PUNCH, Paul-Oghayan said efforts to discredit Seyi Tinubu is politically motivated.

Our correspondent reports that Atiku Abubakar Isah had earlier accused President Bola Tinubu’s son of interfering in the affairs of the students’ body.

Isah, who claimed to have emerged as the association’s leader during its national convention which was held on February 27, alleged that Seyi disrupted the association’s inauguration ceremony held on Tuesday in Abuja and threatened to kill him.

He described the attack as “politically motivated” and linked it to an alleged bribe offer of N100 million aimed at silencing his leadership.

However, in a statement in Kaduna, Paul-Oghayan described the accusations as “fabrication birthed from the womb of political mischief.”

He noted that Seyi Tinubu had never interfered with the autonomy of the country’s students’ leadership or attempted to impose himself upon the organic structures of students’ movements.

Paul-Oghayan stressed: “Instead, Seyi Tinubu has emerged as a strategic bridge, linking the aspirations of the Nigerian youths with the vision of the state.”

He maintained that he had never seen or heard of any instance whereby the president’s son gave a directive to NANS or any of its sister bodies to attack fellow comrades or to act as agents of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

“The coordinated attempt to paint Seyi Tinubu as a political manipulator in students’ affairs is uncalled for and cannot stand,” he insisted.

As a result, Paul-Oghayan cautioned the media against platforming individuals with false credentials, pointing out that, “It is deeply troubling that the Nigerian media, a sacred fourth estate of the realm meant to uphold truth as its standard, would offer its stage to an impostor whose only credentials are lies polished with confidence.”

The NAPS president, therefore, called for a higher standard of journalism practice, emphasising the need for thorough verification before giving the audience to individuals claiming legitimacy in sensitive youth matters.

Paul-Oghayan, who said he was speaking on behalf of the millions of polytechnic students, threw his weight behind the Comrade Olushola Oladoja-led NANS leadership, and urged the students’ movement to rise in defence of truth and legitimacy.

“We must defend Comr. Olushola Oladoja, the duly recognised President of NANS, from coordinated character assassinations intended to destabilise the students’ movement,” he said.

“Silence, in the face of falsehood, is complicity. Let us not betray our mandate by tolerating impostors and their enablers.”

While further emphasising the need to stand up for the truth and legitimacy, he declared, “If the young do not stand for the truth, the future becomes a rehearsal of yesterday’s mistakes.”

Paul-Oghayan urged other students’ leaders to be vigilant and defend their organisations from manipulation and destabilisation.
