ARMS SHORTAGE: WHO IS TO BLAME?

Nigeria's Defence Minister says the ongoing Israel-Iran and Russia-Ukraine wars have disrupted global weapons supplies, making it harder for Nigeria to acquire arms needed to fight insecurity.

Do you agree that foreign conflicts are affecting Nigeria's security efforts, or should the government be exploring alternative solutions?

๐Ÿ’” SHE SCREAMED FOR HELP. NO ONE SAVED HER. ๐Ÿ’”

66-year-old Margaret Swan boarded a MARTA train on May 30 expecting to make it home to her family.

Instead, prosecutors say she spent the final moments of her life enduring unimaginable terror.

According to surveillance footage described in arrest warrants, 25-year-old John Elijah Matthews allegedly walked up to Margaret as she sat alone on the train. The two had never spoken. There was no argument. No confrontation. No warning.

Authorities say Matthews suddenly pulled out a knife and slashed Margaretโ€™s throat.

As she screamed and desperately tried to get away, investigators say he grabbed her, forced her to the floor, and stabbed her approximately 18 to 20 times.

For nearly two horrifying minutes, Margaret fought for her life.

She was a mother of three, grandmother of five, and great-grandmother of four. A retired childcare worker. A woman her family describes as loving, gentle, and the rock of their family.

Her daughter says Margaret even carried a knife for protection, but the attack happened so suddenly she never had a chance to defend herself.

What makes this tragedy even harder to comprehend is that her daughter believes her mother died surrounded by people who witnessed the attack but were unable or unwilling to stop it.

A woman who spent her life caring for others spent her final moments begging for help that never came.

John Elijah Matthews has been arrested and charged with murder.

Margaret Swan should have made it home that day.

Instead, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren are now planning a funeral for the woman who held their family together.

Please keep Margaret Swanโ€™s loved ones in your prayers. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ

You Cannot Sit Back And Say You're Waiting For A Soldier Or Policeman, Protect Yourself First -Musa

Minister of Defence Retired General Christopher Musa has called on Nigerians to take their personal safety into their own hands rather than wait passively for soldiers or police to respond to threats.

Speaking on Channels TV, Musa said, "People must learn to work together with members of the armed forces. You cannot sit back and say you are waiting because there is no soldier or policeman. You must protect yourself first. The first preservation of every human being is the protection of your life. So whatever you need to do to ensure that you stay alive, please do it."

Musa called on communities to form local security groups capable of identifying and flagging strangers or criminals before they cause harm, and urged state and local governments to take a closer look at markets and illegal motor parks as key entry points for arms, ammunition, and drugs.

He said the strategy of monitoring markets and shutting down illegal motor parks was one of the key tactics deployed in the Northeast that helped the military gain ground against insurgents and that replicating that model across communities nationwide, backed by a visible security presence at identified hotspots, could make a significant difference in the fight against armed violence across the country

This is a call to action for everyone.

Nigeria Mourns the Loss of a Distinguished Soldier

It is with great sorrow that I share the news of the passing of Lt. Gen. Chikadibia Isaac Obiakor, a respected soldier, patriot, and one of Nigeriaโ€™s exceptional international peacekeepers. Gen. Obiakor dedicated himself to our nation with remarkable bravery and integrity, proudly representing Nigeria both domestically and at the United Nations.

Just a few weeks ago, I engaged with him for some information; itโ€™s hard to believe that was our final conversation. I even mentioned him just last Monday at a public event.

His life was characterised by dedication, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to peace and humanity. From the Nigerian military to his participation in global peacekeeping efforts, he exemplified professionalism and integrity, inspiring countless officers and young Nigerians to prioritise service to others.

During this challenging time, I offer my sincere condolences to his family, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and all those who are grieving this significant loss. May God grant his noble soul eternal peace and provide strength to his loved ones as they cope with this painful time.

May his soul rest in peace
