ACHIEVEMENTS SO FAR...
Within just 365 days, the administration of Mayor (Dr.) Jubril Kolawole Emilagba has implemented strategic programmes and delivered landmark projects across education, infrastructure, healthcare, youth development, security, human capital development, social welfare, environmental sustainability, and community empowerment. These achievements reflect a steadfast commitment to improving the quality of life of every resident of Lagos Mainland.
*INFRASTRUCTURE & PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT: BUILDING A MODERN LAGOS MAINLAND*
The administration has undertaken major infrastructural renewal aimed at improving mobility, public safety, and public facilities through:
* Reconstruction of Jebba by Tapa Road to Okobaba.
* Construction of drainage on both sides of Jebba Road.
* Reconstruction of Oroku Road.
* Construction of drainage on both sides of Oroku Road.
* Construction of Freeman Road drainage.
* Renovation of UNA Primary School.
* Deflooding and renovation of Kadara Primary School.
* Rehabilitation of box culverts across Ebute Metta East.
Reconstruction of the Odaliki Police Post into a modern Police Station.
* Installation of 410 Solar-Powered Streetlights under the Light Up Lagos Mainland Project.
* Renovation of the Council Secretariat.
* Consultancy services for the proposed New Council Secretariat.
* Maintenance of dilapidated roads, including Ademuyiwa, Ijero, Abule-Nla/Afric Road, Borno/Kano, Osholake by Ibadan Road, and other critical roads.
* Purchase of official vehicles for Councillors.
*EDUCATION: BUILDING THE FUTURE THROUGH LEARNING*
Recognising education as the foundation of sustainable development, the administration has expanded access to quality education through:
* Distribution of 750 Free JAMB Forms to indigent students.
* Distribution of 500 Free WAEC GCE Forms (1st Edition).
* Distribution of 500 Free WAEC GCE Forms (2nd Edition).
* Distribution of 100,000 exercise books to pupils and students in public schools.
* Organisation of the Lagos Mainland Spelling Bee Competition.
* Successful implementation of the Summer Coaching and Vocational Skills Acquisition Programme.
* NIIT ICT Training for public school teachers to strengthen digital education.
* Introduction of the innovative A Day Chairman Programme to inspire leadership and civic responsibility among young people.
* Successful celebration of Children's Day.
*HEALTHCARE: IMPROVING ACCESS TO QUALITY HEALTH SERVICES*
The administration has prioritised preventive and curative healthcare through:
* Successful implementation of 10 Phases of Free Medical Missions.( free drugs, free eyeglasses, check up, cervical test etc)
* Successful implementation of the National Immunisation Plus Days (NIPDs) Polio Vaccination Campaign.
* Provision of 39 Free Hernia Surgeries.
* Successful implementation of Three Phases of Free Eye Care Programmes.
* Sponsorship of 20 Free Eye Surgeries.
* Provision of modern medical equipment to Simpson Primary Health Centre
* Provision of modern medical equipment to Abule-Nla Primary Health Centre.
*EMPOWERMENT, SOCIAL WELFARE & COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT*
Improving residents' standard of living has remained central to the administration through:
* Distribution of ₦130 Million , artisans, traders, entrepreneurs, and small business owners.
* Welfare support programmes for widows.
* Successful implementation of 10 Phases of the Ounje Emi Food Palliative( Rice,Beans, Garri, Bread, indomie pack, etc) Program.
* Distribution of food palliatives during Ramadan, Lent, and Eid-el-Kabir.
* Distribution of rams, cows, chickens, and bags of rice during festive seasons.
* Sponsorship of Hajj and Jerusalem Pilgrimages for members of the Lagos Mainland community.
* Sponsorship of COWLSO programs.
* Organisation of the Women's Assembly Program.
* Celebration of International Women's Day.
* Sponsorship of the Women's Race at Onikan Stadium.
*YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, SPORTS & SECURITY*
Believing that young people are the driving force of the future, the administration has invested in youth empowerment, sports, and security through:
* Distribution of 14 Korope Vehicles to youths.
* Distribution of 7 Korope Vehicles to security agencies.
* Organisation of the Lagos Mainland Peace Cup Football Competition.
* Implementation of youth leadership and empowerment programs.
* Procurement of a new Staff Bus for the Local Government workforce.
* Purchase of a new Bus for Association of Market men and women.
* Recognition and honoring of Imisi, winner of Big Brother Naija, for bringing pride and positive recognition to Lagos Mainland.
*ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY*
The administration has continued to build a cleaner, healthier, and safer Lagos Mainland through:
* Distribution of colour-coded waste bins to all Primary Health Centres for proper medical waste segregation.
* Monthly environmental sanitation exercises.
* Continuous desilting of drainage channels across the Local Government.
* Community environmental awareness and engagement campaigns.
* Distribution of sanitation tools to Community Development Associations (CDAs) and Community Development Committees (CDCs).
* Periodic deratting and fumigation of all public primary schools.
* Continuous deratting and fumigation of markets.
* Regular provision of disposable refuse bags to support proper waste disposal.
Routine clearing of black spots, illegal dumpsites, and market environments.
*HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT & PUBLIC SERVICE REFORMS*
Recognising that excellent governance begins with a productive workforce, the administration has prioritised staff development through:
* Monthly Knowledge Sharing Sessions for staff.
* Ethics and discipline training for drivers, security guards, and cleaners.
Capacity-building training for clerical officers.
* Workshop for Administrative and Human Resource Officers on strengthening administrative strategy through the five divisions of Administration and Human Resources.
* Computer training for management staff on Microsoft Office applications and desktop publishing.
* Regular interactive sessions and general staff meetings.
* Monthly financial support for staff.
* Monthly Best Staff Recognition Awards with cash gifts.
* Provision of staff welfare packages, palliatives, and productivity bonuses.
