CG AUDI SEEKS EXPANDED INTERNATIONAL TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES FOR NSCDC PERSONNEL

In a strategic move to further strengthen the professional capacity of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Commandant General, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, has engaged the Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organisation (ICDO), Mr. Arguj Kalantarli, in a high-level virtual meeting.

The engagement focused on expanding international training, capacity-building and professional development opportunities for NSCDC personnel, in line with the Commandant General’s commitment to building a highly skilled, globally competitive and modern Civil Defence Corps.

As a member country of the ICDO, Nigeria continues to leverage international cooperation to strengthen its civil protection capabilities. The Commandant General emphasised the importance of exposing Corps personnel to global best practices, emerging technologies and contemporary approaches to disaster management, civil protection and critical national infrastructure security.

The engagement further underscores the NSCDC’s increasing focus on strategic international partnerships as a pathway to professional excellence and enhanced service delivery to Nigerians.

“ADEYINKA HAS LEFT A LEGACY OF SERVICE AND MENTORSHIP” - CG AUDI

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, has paid glowing tribute to the retiring Deputy Commandant General, DCG Adeyinka Fasiu Ayinla, describing his career as a remarkable example of service, humility, leadership and mentorship.

Speaking at a valedictory ceremony held at the NSCDC National Headquarters, Abuja, Professor Audi said DCG Adeyinka’s years of dedicated service had made a lasting contribution to the Corps, particularly through his leadership of the Directorate of Administration.

The CG praised the retiring DCG for his diligence, effective supervision and commitment to developing other officers, stressing that one of the clearest measures of a leader is the ability to prepare others to continue the work.

According to him, DCG Adeyinka’s retirement would undoubtedly be felt across the Corps, but his investment in people and systems had ensured that he leaves without creating a vacuum.

Professor Audi described the retirement as the beginning of a new chapter and encouraged serving personnel to draw lessons from the retiring officer’s humility, professionalism and unwavering dedication to duty.

He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the approval allowing retiring DCGs to continue receiving their salaries, describing the gesture as a significant recognition of their sacrifices and years of service to the nation.

The occasion featured goodwill messages from the Secretary, Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), Major General Abdulmalik Jibrin (rtd); DCG Zakari Ibrahim Ningi, fdc, on behalf of the DCGs; representatives of the Comptroller General of Immigration and the Federal Fire Service; and former Acting Commandant General of the NSCDC, Hillary Kelechi Madu, fsi.

As DCG Adeyinka takes his final bow from active service, the Corps celebrates not simply the end of a career, but the enduring impact of a leader who invested in people, strengthened institutions and served with distinction.

NSCDC HOSTS NATIONAL ARMOURERS RETREAT, WARNS OFFICERS AGAINST ILLEGAL ARMS DEALING AND UNETHICAL CONDUCT

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has inaugurated a week-long retreat and symposium for over 150 armourers and arms commanders drawn from across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The retreat, themed "Management of Arms and Ammunition," aims to bolster professionalism, enforce strict accountability, and eliminate operational rivalries across the command structure.

Opening the event at the Corps’ National Headquarters, Commandant General Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, delivered a stern warning against unprofessional practices. He stated unequivocally that the administration will enforce maximum penalties for any breach of arms safety protocols or unethical engagement.

"The Corps will deal ruthlessly with any officer involved in illegal dealing in arms and ammunition, such as gun running, arms renting, arms hiring, and borrowing," Prof. Audi warned. "Henceforth, the punishment for involvement in illegal arms activity is outright dismissal and prosecution. Personnel are expected to display the highest levels of discipline and operational integrity."

Prof. Audi further charged the armourers and arms commanders to eliminate inter-departmental friction, stressing that seamless collaboration across all units is essential to achieving the Corps' primary security mandate.

Earlier, the Commandant of the NSCDC Centre for Civil Defence Studies, Assistant Commandant General (ACG) Opara Charles Kenechukwu, emphasized the critical importance of weapon stewardship in his opening remarks. He noted that the management of arms is a sacred trust directly linked to national security and public trust.

"Every weapon entrusted to the NSCDC must remain fully accounted for, properly maintained, securely stored, and deployed strictly in accordance with established laws, regulations, and operational procedures," ACG Opara stated.

The ceremony featured goodwill messages from key leadership figures, including Deputy Commandants General Dr. Nnamdi Nwinyi (Intelligence and Investigation), Zakari Ibrahim Ningi, fdc (Technical Services), Pedro Awili Ideba (Crisis Management), and the Commandant of Armament, Michael Eneghela, PhD.

AUDI IN OSOGBO: NSCDC CG REAFFIRMS SYNERGY, WARNS AGAINST ELECTORAL VIOLENCE

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, has assured the Ataoja of Osogbo of the Corps’ readiness to protect Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) and support a peaceful electoral process in Osun State.

During a courtesy visit to the Ataoja, His Royal Majesty Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, the CG urged traditional institutions and other stakeholders to sensitise youths against being used as tools for electoral violence, thuggery and other forms of misconduct.

Professor Audi also stressed that inter-agency synergy remains central to the success of the security architecture, urging security agencies to work together, share intelligence and maintain coordinated operations before, during and after the election.

Later in the evening, the CG addressed NSCDC personnel deployed for the election, charging them to uphold discipline, professionalism, neutrality and the Rules of Engagement.

He commended their readiness and urged them to sustain the spirit of professionalism, camaraderie and operational synergy with sister agencies, assuring that the Corps remains fully prepared to deliver on its mandate and safeguard lives, property and critical national assets throughout the electoral period.

“TOUCH ELECTORAL ASSETS, FACE THE FULL FORCE OF THE LAW” — NSCDC CG WARNS IN OSUN

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, has assured the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the Corps’ readiness to protect electoral materials, facilities and other critical assets ahead of the forthcoming Osun election.

The CG gave the assurance during an operational visit to the INEC State Headquarters, where he met with the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola.

Prof. Audi reiterated that the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure is a statutory mandate of the NSCDC, stressing that electoral assets fall within the category of assets the Corps is committed to safeguarding.

He assured the REC that NSCDC personnel will work professionally and in synergy with INEC and sister security agencies to secure the electoral environment and enable citizens to exercise their franchise peacefully.

The Commandant General also issued a stern warning to vandals and anyone planning to disrupt the electoral process.

“Anyone who attempts to vandalize assets or interfere with the election will be seriously dealt with,” he warned.

Responding, Mrs. Babalola commended the Commandant General for personally visiting the Commission and for the Corps’ continued support in protecting electoral assets. She reaffirmed INEC’s commitment to a transparent, free and credible election.

The visit further underscores the NSCDC’s readiness to deploy its statutory mandate towards protecting the assets, infrastructure and people that underpin the democratic process.

“NO ROOM FOR VANDALISM OR SABOTAGE” — NSCDC CG, AUDI MOVES TO FORTIFY CRITICAL NATIONAL ASSETS AHEAD OF OSUN POLLS

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, has arrived Osun State as part of intensified operational preparations for the forthcoming election, with a renewed focus on strengthening the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) across the State.

The operational visit underscores the Corps’ statutory responsibility to safeguard critical national assets and infrastructure against vandalism, sabotage and other threats, particularly during a period of heightened electoral activity.

As part of his strategic engagements, the Commandant General paid a visit to the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, where discussions centred on security preparedness, inter-agency coordination and the protection of critical assets and infrastructure before, during and after the election.

Speaking during the engagement, Prof. Audi declared that the Corps would not allow individuals or groups to exploit the electoral period to vandalise or compromise critical national assets and infrastructure.

“There is no room for vandalism or sabotage. We will decisively deal with anyone who attempts to disrupt the electoral process or compromise critical national assets and infrastructure,” the Commandant General stated.

He reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to professionalism, neutrality and strict adherence to the Rules of Engagement, stressing that the Corps would work in synergy with sister security agencies to maintain a secure environment for the conduct of the election.

The Commandant General further emphasized that electoral facilities, sensitive materials and other infrastructure critical to the democratic process would receive the necessary protection within the Corps’ statutory mandate.

In his response, Governor Ademola Adeleke commended the Commandant General for personally undertaking the operational visit and acknowledged the NSCDC’s continued role in protecting critical national assets and infrastructure across Osun State.

The Governor also called for adequate security deployment and effective coordination among security agencies to deter threats capable of undermining the peaceful conduct of the election.

The visit forms part of the Commandant General’s broader operational assessment and stakeholder engagements ahead of the poll, reinforcing the Corps’ readiness to protect critical national assets, strengthen security coordination and support a peaceful, free, fair and credible electoral process.

The NSCDC remains resolute: critical national assets and infrastructure must remain protected, the democratic process must remain secure, and law-abiding citizens must be able to exercise their franchise without fear.
