✈🗜 *Professional Tips* ✈🗜
*I am Wale*
*STEP*
A great privilege it is to be able to write out yet another epistle capable of making you be among the two in every top three wherever you find yourself in your profession.
*Lao-tzu wrote, “The journey of a thousand leagues begins with a single step”.* This quote in a way concentrated on the effect of a single step, what a single step can do. This invariably means that there is never going to be a breakthrough of a thousand league without an intentional effort of consciously taking a single step.
*Let’s log in….*
An adage says that *a ray of light doesn’t have effect if not concentrated or well focused on a spot,* that actually, is where the power lies. The effort taken to begin is definitely going to be the genesis of the whole success’ chronicles.
What do you have to do to be the world's greatest?
Take the first step! In it, the strength lies and funny enough, that is the only power you have to maximize, every other thing fully depends on it.
I can vividly count two times some opportunities eluded me because of lack of two particular skills. One, I would need someone else to teach me, the other I could as a matter of fact teach myself. But NO! I didn’t bother. I would rather tell the lady who supposed to teach me some lame excuses, and the one I could teach myself, I refused to. When the opportunity that requires those skills came and I missed it, I was livid. The problem wasn’t from God, no. It wasn’t even from my village nor satan. It was from me. I lacked that particular single step that has the capacity to deliver a thousand leagues.
There are records of 2,208 Billionaires on this Planet and joining them is never going to be unGodly.
All starts with a step, a step to learn the skills, a step to take an unadulterated decision to avoid stagnancy.
*John Haggai said, " Gather in all your resources, rally all your faculties, Marshall all your energies, focus all your capacities upon mastery of at least one field of endeavour"**
Let's not major on the minor, picking the verbs from Haggai's quote leaves us with these words:
Gather
Rally
Marshall
Focus
The above words represents the power of an act, the act of concentrating on what to do to maximize the power of a single step and decision needed in breaking boundaries to enhance going far in your chosen career.
*What one field are you unbeatable in?*
What step do you need to take today as regards learning a trade, furthering your education and being the best in your career?
*Can you spare the universe those generational excuses and take the step right now?*
I mean, pause reading now and take the step.
This is my own motivation as regards my profession: *What do I have to do to always be among the top three?* If I can answer, then, I do it or else, I'll keep missing opportunities. It's not a rocket science. It's common sense.
What many of you don't understand is that the universe has its law on us, irrespective of who you are or who you think you are, *if you don't innovate, you die.*
Innovation doesn't come by praying against death. It comes by taking an exercised step towards your own imagination and death doesn't come by not breathing, it comes by not taking steps towards your own greatness.
That's why some names can never be forgotten even after they stopped breathing.
Chinua Achebe, Isaac Newton, Obafemi Awolowo,Thomas Edison, Billy Graham.Etc.
There are also some names that are still much around but their deaths won't still disqualify them from "living", names like Tony Elumelu, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Phillip Emegwali, Mark Zuckerberg, Chris Imafidon, Askia Oghale Tessy.Etc.
All these folks didn't and don't find it easy
Let me end with some quotes from Denzel Washington:
*"Ease is a greater threat to progress than hardship"*
*“I’d be more frightened by not using whatever abilities I’d been given. I’d be more frightened by procrastination and laziness.”*
And lastly, *“Fall forward. Here’s what I mean: Reggie Jackson struck out 2,600 times in his career – the most in the history of baseball. But you don’t hear about the strikeouts. People remember the home runs. Fall forward. Thomas Edison conducted 1,000 failed experiments. Did you know that? I didn’t either – because number 1,001 was the light bulb. Fall forward. Every failed experiment is one step closer to success"*
Till next week, same day, probably same time.
I hope you're all reading, the books are mind openers.
