Lagos Set to Construct 1,086-Metre Road in Igando-Ikotun LCDA
…Says No Community Will Be Left Behind

The Lagos State Government, under the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reiterated its commitment to infrastructure development across communities in the State, assuring residents that no community will be left behind in its development agenda.

The Governor disclosed this at the flag-off ceremony of the construction of the 1,086-metre Alhaji Ashafa, Alhaji Ogundimu and Tunde Olufoye Streets in Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Alimosho.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, who was represented at the ceremony by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, noted that the event was not merely about the commencement of another road project, but a clear demonstration of the unwavering commitment of the State Government to delivering sustainable development to communities across Lagos.

He described the project as a testament to the administration's resolve to ensure that the benefits of good governance reach every part of the State, including rural and semi-urban communities.

Dr. Agbaje explained that the Office of Rural Development had, in September, flagged off about eight road projects across different communities, describing the initiative as another step towards building a more connected, inclusive and prosperous Lagos.

He said the projects were in line with Governor Sanwo-Olu's vision of ensuring that infrastructure development reaches communities at the grassroots and that no community is left behind.

In his goodwill message, the Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Alimosho Constituency II, Hon. Kehinde Joseph, represented by Comrade Raheem Akeem, described the project as a testament to the commitment of the Lagos State Government to delivering the dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of residents.

He said the project would provide lasting solutions to some of the challenges confronting residents and businesses within the community.

Earlier in her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for approving the project and for his continued commitment to infrastructure development across Lagos State.

She noted that the construction of the roads would boost socio-economic activities, reduce travel time and create employment opportunities for residents of the community.

The Executive Chairman of Igando-Ikotun LCDA, Comrade Lasisi Akinsanya, represented by the Secretary to the Local Government, Mrs. Mojisola Badmus, also expressed appreciation to the State Government for the project.

She noted that since the inception of the Sanwo-Olu administration, the LCDA has benefited immensely from various government interventions and developmental projects.

She, however, urged members of the community to cooperate with the contractor handling the project to ensure that the work was completed within the stipulated scope and timeframe.

Speaking on behalf of the Motorola and Ogo Oluwa Community Development Associations, Alhaji Muniru Ogundimu appreciated the Lagos State Government for bringing the road project to the community.

He pledged the support and cooperation of the residents with the contractor to ensure the timely and successful completion of the project.

Permanent Secretary Charges PSAP Participants on Leadership, Capacity Development

The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, has charged participants of the Public Service Accelerator Programme (PSAP) to see themselves as agents of positive change in the Lagos State Public Service through commitment, effective leadership, loyalty and continuous self-development.

The Permanent Secretary gave the charge today in her office during an interactive session with a group of participants of the Public Service Accelerator Programme (PSAP), an initiative designed to equip selected officers of the Lagos State Civil Service with leadership and capacity-building skills.

The programme, which selected 100 Accelerators from the Lagos State Civil Service, is aimed at strengthening their knowledge, skills and mindsets, while encouraging strategic thinking and aligning their professional development with the THEMES+ Development Agenda of the Lagos State Government.

Speaking during the interactive session, Mrs. Bolarinwa shared her extensive experience and career journey in the Civil Service, highlighting key lessons from her progression and experiences over the years. She encouraged the participants to learn from her experiences and remain committed to excellence, professionalism and continuous personal development.

She also explained the mandate and responsibilities of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, as well as the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development.

According to her, the Ministry implements people-centred programmes and initiatives through the 57 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas, traditional institutions and Community Development Associations across the State.

Mrs. Bolarinwa congratulated the participants on their selection for the programme, describing their participation as an opportunity to develop the leadership capacity required to contribute meaningfully to the future of the Lagos State Public Service.

She also commended the Ministry of Establishments, Training and Pensions for its reforms and initiatives aimed at strengthening human capital development and shaping the future of the Lagos State Public Service.

In his vote of thanks on behalf of the participants, Mr. Oyerinde Adebayo expressed appreciation to the Permanent Secretary for receiving them and sharing her wealth of experience in the Lagos State Civil Service.

He noted that the interactive session and detailed presentation on the mandate of the Ministry had broadened their understanding, equipping them with valuable knowledge that would make them better informed, more capable and more effective officers in the Lagos State Public Service.

Sanwo-Olu flags-off 670-Metre Adebayo-Akinade, Road in Igbogbo-Baiyeku and others
…opens up community for economic activities

In its bid to reduce rural-urban migration and promote balanced development across the State, the Lagos State Government has flagged off the construction of the 670-metre Adebayo-Akinade Road in Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area, as part of the administration’s commitment to delivering the T.H.E.M.E.S. Plus Agenda to rural communities.

The road project was flagged off on behalf of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, at Adebayo-Akinade Street, Igbogbo-Baiyeku.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Agbaje disclosed that the project is one of the numerous infrastructure projects being undertaken by the administration of Governor Sanwo-Olu through the Office of Rural Development, in fulfilment of its commitment to extending the dividends of democracy to every part of Lagos State.

He commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for ensuring that rural communities are not left behind in the State’s development agenda, particularly through the deliberate effort to cascade the T.H.E.M.E.S. Plus Agenda to the grassroots.

Dr. Agbaje added that Governor Sanwo-Olu had recently approved the immediate commencement of six similar road projects in Ajeromi-Ifelodun and Ifelodun Councils, noting that the projects, alongside other rural development initiatives, are opening up economic opportunities and improving the quality of life of residents across the State.

He appealed to residents and community stakeholders to provide a conducive environment for the contractor to execute the project without hindrance. He also charged the contractor to ensure that the project is delivered within the stipulated timeframe, while maintaining the highest standards of quality.

In his goodwill message, the Honourable Member representing Ikorodu Constituency II, Hon. (Dr.) Aro Moshood, commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for his inclusive development agenda, particularly the administration’s efforts to transform rural communities into semi-urban communities through the provision of critical infrastructure.

Hon. Moshood noted that, over the past seven years, Governor Sanwo-Olu had approved more than seven critical road projects in Ikorodu, adding that the projects had contributed significantly to the economic empowerment of rural residents and helped to reduce rural-urban migration.

He also appealed to the contractor to deliver the project within the agreed timeline, while encouraging the engagement of both skilled and unskilled residents of the community in the ex*****on of the project.

Similarly, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, in her welcome address, expressed appreciation to Governor Sanwo-Olu for his sustained commitment to rural development, particularly through the provision of infrastructure and social amenities that have enhanced economic activities and improved living conditions in rural communities.

Bolarinwa urged residents to take ownership of the project and ensure that the road project is protected from vandalisation.
The Chairman, Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area, Prince Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, applauded Governor Sanwo-Olu for his continued investment in Ikorodu and other rural communities across the State. He noted that the numerous development projects undertaken by the administration had contributed significantly to the transformation of Ikorodu, making the area an increasingly attractive destination for residents and investors.

Prince Aroyewun also urged residents and community stakeholders to refrain from any activities that could undermine the work of the contractor or delay the completion of the project.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Odera Community Development Association (CDA), Professor Noah Imodu, expressed gratitude to the Governor on behalf of the residents, describing the road project as a symbol of progress, improved accessibility, economic empowerment, safety, security and, most importantly, hope for the community.

He assured the State Government that residents would regard the road as their heritage and work closely with the contractor and the Ministry to ensure that the project is completed within the stipulated timeframe.

Recall that, within the last week, Governor Sanwo-Olu, through the Office of Rural Development, also flagged off a series of road projects across the State. These include the 560-metre Isikalu Road, 270-metre Odofin Road, 320-metre Alayabiagba Road and 250-metre Cemetery Road in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area, as well as the 320-metre Asubiojo Road and 320-metre Owoseni Road in Ifelodun Local Council Development Area.

The flag-off ceremony was attended by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Government and Rural Development, Mr. Babatunde Durojaiye; executives of Community Development Associations in Igbogbo-Baiyeku; community and religious leaders; residents of Adebayo-Akinade community; other invited guests; and members of the press.

Presents Staff of Office to New Onise of Ise Kingdom

The Lagos State Government has presented the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment to Prince Ibrahim Adebowale Saliu, as His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa Oba Ibrahim Adebowale Saliu, the Onise of Ise Kingdom in Lekki Local Council Development Area.

The presentation was performed on Friday, August 21, 2026, by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, alongside the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs Kikelomo Bolarinwa, with the approval of the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the Lagos State Executive Council, following the demise of the late Oba Ganiu Adebowale Adegbesan, Onise of Ise Kingdom.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr Agbaje urged the new monarch to make peace, unity and inclusive development the pillars of his reign, stressing the important role traditional institutions play in promoting harmony, stability and grassroots development.

He encouraged the new Onise to extend the hand of fellowship to all members of the Royal families and ensure that his reign becomes a period of reconciliation, cooperation and collective progress for the people of Ise Kingdom.

Dr Agbaje congratulated Oba Saliu on his ascension to the throne and expressed confidence that the monarch would deploy his experience, wisdom and position to advance the peace and prosperity of Ise Kingdom.

Earlier in her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, welcomed the royal fathers and other dignitaries to the event. She expressed appreciation to the Governor for approving the presentation of the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment to the newly installed monarch, describing the gesture as a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to strengthening the traditional institution and promoting grassroots development.

The presentation of the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment formally signified the commencement of the reign of Oba Ibrahim Adebowale Saliu as the Onise of Ise Kingdom.

Governor Sanwo-Olu Flags Off Six Road Projects in Ajeromi-Ifelodun

As part of the efforts of the administration of Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, to bring the dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroots, the Governor has flagged off the construction of six roads simultaneously across Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area and Ifelodun Local Council Development Area.

The flag-off ceremony, held at the various project locations, is aimed at improving access and mobility, opening up communities to greater economic opportunities and ultimately enhancing the living conditions of residents.

Representing the Governor at the ceremony, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, explained that the road projects include the 320-metre Asubiojo Street, 320-metre Alayabiagba Street, 115-metre Owoseni Street, and 560-metre Isikalu Lane/Ogumade Street, among others, across the two local government areas.

Dr. Agbaje said the projects were part of the administration’s commitment to extending critical infrastructure to communities across Lagos State, particularly at the grassroots.

The Governor, while appealing to residents to take ownership of the projects, noted that while the government is providing the infrastructure, its sustainability requires the cooperation and collective responsibility of the communities.

Speaking at the event, the Honourable Members representing Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituencies I and II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Lukman Olumoh and Hon. Subar Akanbi Oluwa, respectively, commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for approving the projects. Governor Sanwo-Olu Meets Community Development Advisory Council, Reaffirms Support for Grassroots Development

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting grassroots development across the State through various projects and interventions for Community Development Associations (CDAs), Community Development Councils (CDCs), and the Lagos State Community Development Advisory Council (LSCDAC).

The Governor stated this today during an interactive session with the Executive Members of the Lagos State Community Development Advisory Council held at Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja.

Governor Sanwo-Olu explained that his administration would continue to ensure that the dividends of democracy are extended to communities across the State, noting that grassroots development remains an important component of the THEMES+ Development Agenda.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, described the Advisory Council as a critical stakeholder that plays a significant role in supporting the State Government in cascading its policies, programmes, and development initiatives to communities across Lagos State.

Dr. Agbaje further noted that members of the Council, as grassroots stakeholders, are strategically positioned to mobilise their communities and ensure that government programmes and initiatives reach the people at the local level. He also commended the various self-help projects being undertaken by communities to complement government efforts in improving the quality of life of residents.

In his address, the Chairman of the Lagos State Community Development Advisory Council, Alhaji Azeez Amuzat, thanked Governor Sanwo-Olu for the various infrastructural and developmental projects being implemented across the three Senatorial Districts and, by extension, communities throughout the State.

Alhaji Amuzat assured the Governor that the Association and the Council would continue to work closely with the State Government to promote sustainable development and peaceful coexistence at the grassroots.

Sanwo-Olu Installs Monarchs in Kosofe and Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Areas

As part of the efforts of the administration of Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State, towards the development and strengthening of traditional institutions across the State, the Lagos State Government has presented Staff of Office and Instruments of Appointment to two newly installed traditional rulers in Kosofe and Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Areas.

The Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment were presented on behalf of the Governor by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, alongside the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, at the Kosofe Local Government Secretariat.

The presentation was made to His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa Oba Kabiru Adesegun Bashir, as the Olu of Oko Baba Agba in Kosofe Local Government Area.

In a similar development, Dr. Agbaje also presented the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment to His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa Oba Adeleke Ayinde Nasir, as the Alajasa of Lagasa Community in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The Governor congratulated the people of the two communities on the installation of their new monarchs and urged the traditional rulers to uphold the dignity and sanctity of their respective stools.

Governor Sanwo-Olu further appealed to the monarchs to ensure that their actions, initiatives and developmental efforts are aligned with and supportive of the policies of the Lagos State Government towards achieving a 21st Century Economy.

He also urged them to work closely with their respective Local Government Authorities, other traditional rulers and relevant stakeholders to promote peace, unity, security and sustainable development in their communities.
