The Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce celebrates the strategic partnership between its members, Wema Bank Plc and Duplo, a leading financial operating system for African businesses, to simplify and modernise financial management for businesses across Nigeria.

The collaboration integrates Duplo’s financial operations platform into ALAT by Wema Bank, enabling businesses to automate payments, manage expenses and approvals, generate and collect invoices, and streamline financial workflows through a single integrated platform.

For many growing businesses, fragmented financial processes often result in delayed decision-making, poor cash-flow visibility, and weak financial controls. Research indicates that finance teams in mid-sized Nigerian businesses spend 30 to 50 hours per month on manual reconciliation, dispute resolution, and audit preparation, creating high operational costs.

Through this partnership, ALAT Business customers gain access to local and international payments, automated vendor payments, expense management, invoice generation and collections, real-time financial reporting, and enhanced financial workflow controls. Existing customers will also receive three months of complimentary access to Duplo’s platform.

Speaking on the partnership, Tunde Mabawonku, Executive Director, Finance and Digital Optimisation at Wema Bank Plc, said the integration strengthens ALAT’s digital banking offering by providing businesses with intelligent financial tools that simplify financial management, improve operational efficiency, and support sustainable growth.

Yele Oyekola, CEO and Co-Founder of Duplo, said the collaboration allows businesses to manage payments, reconciliation, and cash flow with greater clarity and control while reducing operational risks through a platform they already trust.

The secure integration enables businesses to access Duplo directly through ALAT, receive a Wema Bank virtual account for collections, process payments, and manage financial workflows from a single dashboard.

As valued members of NBCC,Wema Bank and Duplo continue to show how collaboration and innovation can strengthen Nigeria’s business ecosystem.

3 DAYS TO GO!

A few years ago, a small business owner in Nigeria could only sell to customers who walked into the store.

Today, that same business can reach thousands of customers through social media, receive payments instantly, track inventory digitally, and serve clients across the country—all without opening another branch.

That's the power of digital transformation.

It isn't just about adopting new technology. It's about creating new possibilities.

As customer expectations continue to evolve, the businesses that will thrive are those that embrace innovation, make smarter decisions, and build systems that can grow with them.

In just 3 days, the NBCC Business Innovation Series 2026 will bring together business leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators, and professionals for an important conversation on building businesses that are ready for the future.

Growth isn't a destination—it's a decision you make every day.

Every new week presents us with a choice.

To stay where we are or take one more step forward.
To keep doing what we've always done or embrace new ideas.
To work alone or build meaningful relationships that open doors to greater possibilities.

The truth is, growth doesn't happen overnight. It is shaped by the conversations we have, the knowledge we gain, the partnerships we build, and the courage to keep moving forward—even when the next step seems uncertain.

At the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC), we see growth come to life every day. It happens when entrepreneurs find new markets through a trade mission, when business leaders exchange ideas at a forum, when professionals expand their networks, and when organisations gain fresh insights through our capacity-building programmes and policy engagements. These moments remind us that growth is not an event—it's a continuous journey fuelled by learning, collaboration, and opportunity.

As you begin this new week, choose growth. Choose to learn something new. Choose to start that conversation. Choose to build that partnership. Choose to believe that every small step you take today is laying the foundation for tomorrow's success.

Because every thriving business, every strong economy, and every remarkable success story began with someone deciding to grow.

Happy New Week from the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce—empowering businesses to connect, grow, and thrive.

Zedcrest Group Group has completed the acquisition of Leatherback, a UK-founded global payments and fintech company, in a move aimed at expanding its global financial services ecosystem and strengthening cross-border payment solutions.

The acquisition builds on Zedcrest’s initial investment in 2021 and combines Leatherback’s payment technology platform with Zedcrest’s institutional expertise, governance, and capital. The deal is expected to accelerate growth and improve access to international financial services.

Leatherback enables individuals and businesses to send, receive, convert, and manage funds across multiple currencies through a single digital platform. The company will retain its London headquarters while expanding globally. After establishing its West African hub in Nigeria, it plans to launch additional regional hubs in Canada and Kenya to support operations in North America and East Africa.

With support from Zedcrest Group, Leatherback will continue investing in technology, governance, operational capacity, and talent, while its existing management team remains in place to ensure business continuity.

Adedayo Amzat, Group Managing Director of Zedcrest Group, described the acquisition as a strategic investment in the future of financial services, emphasizing the importance of technology, global connectivity, and institutional trust. He said Leatherback’s platform would benefit from the strength of the Zedcrest ecosystem to drive its next phase of growth.
Ochebhoya Ekpete, Chief Executive Officer of Leatherback, said the acquisition marks a new chapter for the company, providing greater scale, enhanced capabilities, and long-term growth opportunities, while assuring customers and partners that services will continue without disruption.

Founded in 2013, Zedcrest Group has developed a diversified financial services business covering investment banking, asset management, securities, financing, and fintech. Analysts believe the acquisition further strengthens Zedcrest’s position as an emerging African financial services institution with an expanding global presence.

From Local Ambition to Global Opportunity.

Every successful business has an origin story.

It begins with an idea scribbled in a notebook, a small shop opening its doors for the first time, a startup taking its first bold step, or a business owner daring to dream beyond familiar borders.

Those dreams may start locally, but they are never meant to stay there.

At the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC), we believe that ambition deserves opportunity. That is why we continue to create platforms where businesses can learn, connect, collaborate, and expand. Through our trade missions, business forums, networking events, policy advocacy, capacity-building programmes, and strategic partnerships, we help transform local aspirations into global possibilities.

Every handshake has the potential to become a partnership. Every conversation can open the door to a new market. Every connection can be the beginning of something extraordinary.

As a new week begins, be bold enough to dream bigger than yesterday. Take that meeting, make that call, share that idea, and embrace every opportunity to grow. Your next milestone may be the one that takes your business from serving a community to serving the world.

Because every global success story once began with a local ambition.

Here's to a week of bold ideas, meaningful connections, and opportunities without borders.

Happy New Week from the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce—connecting businesses, opening markets, and turning local ambition into global opportunity.
