HON. ROSIJI CELEBRATES OJOKORO CHILDREN IN COLOURFUL FUNFAIR, PRAYS FOR THE RELEASE OF OYO ABDUCTED PUPILS
Laughter, excitement, and colourful displays filled the atmosphere at the Ojokoro Local Council Development Area Secretariat on Tuesday, June 2, as the Executive Chairman of Ojokoro LCDA, Hon. (Barr.) Oluyemisi Adenike Rosiji, hosted hundreds of pupils from public primary and secondary schools to a grand funfair in celebration of the 2026 International Children's Day.
The event, which brought together pupils, teachers, education administrators, political office holders, and community stakeholders, transformed the council secretariat into a vibrant arena of fun, learning, and inspiration as children enjoyed a memorable day specially dedicated to them.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Yemisi Rosiji described children as humanity's greatest treasures and the hope of a brighter future. She reaffirmed her administration's commitment to policies and programmes that promote the welfare, education, healthcare, and overall development of every child in Ojokoro LCDA.
The Chairman noted that children are divine gifts and urged them to remain disciplined, focused, and committed to their studies.
"Education remains the greatest weapon for transformation, liberation, and sustainable success. Believe strongly in your dreams, reject negative influences, and work tirelessly towards becoming responsible and exceptional leaders of tomorrow," she charged.
She further assured residents that her administration would continue to build a safer, stronger, and more child-friendly society where every child can thrive without fear, discrimination, or limitation.
She used the medium to pray so passionately for the safe release of the Oyo abducted pupils and teachers while she assured that the president is doing everything positive to secure their release.
Earlier in his remarks, the Council Manager, Dr. Idowu Banjoko, commended the Chairman for her unwavering love and commitment to the well-being of children in the council area. He explained that although Children's Day is traditionally celebrated on May 27, this year's event was shifted to June 2 due to the Salah festivities.
According to him, the celebration reflected the Chairman's motherly disposition and genuine concern for the happiness and development of children across Ojokoro LCDA.
The Supervisor for Education, Hon. Busari Nasir, who delivered the closing remarks, also praised Hon. Rosiji for putting smiles on the faces of the children through the memorable event. He encouraged the pupils to see the funfair as motivation to excel academically and become worthy ambassadors of their schools and communities.
One of the major highlights of the celebration was the active participation of the Chairman herself. Hon. Rosiji took the salute during the colourful march-past, watched the cultural performances with keen interest, and joined the pupils on the dance floor, drawing loud cheers from the excited children.
The funfair truly lived up to its billing as children enjoyed a variety of recreational activities, including bouncing castle games, swimming in a mobile pool, dancing, refreshments, and other forms of entertainment.
The atmosphere reached a crescendo as participating schools competed in march-past, cultural display and dance competitions, with outstanding schools receiving prizes and recognition for their impressive performances.
For many of the pupils, the day was more than a celebration; it was an unforgettable experience filled with joy, laughter, and cherished memories.
Dignitaries at the event included members of the Executive and Legislative Arms of the council, the Education Secretary of Ifako-Ijaye, Comrade Idowu, the Education Secretary of Education District I, Mr. Alagbe Olusegun, management staff of the council, principal officers, and other distinguished guests.
As the curtains fell on the colourful celebration, one message resonated strongly throughout the venue: Ojokoro's children matter, and under the leadership of Hon. Oluyemisi Adenike Rosiji, they remain firmly at the heart of the council's development agenda.
