65-GUN SALUTES TO DELE MOMODU, A PEN GENERAL ,ROLE MODEL AND RESERVOIR OF KNOWLEDGE @65. TAKE YOUR FLOWER, MY MENTOR.

"A child that washes his hands clean dine with the elders" (Isoko Proverb) .

Bob Dee as we fondly call you sir, You keep dinning with the elders till today because you have washed your hands clean.

You are very Proverbial,so i have come to pay my homage thus ,knowing that what we eat surely tells on us.

My path crossed with you 3rd of May, 2010 at the University of Lagos,where a program was organised by a fellow corper during my National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

As a personality whom i admire so much on National television and long to see, on that fateful day ,my joy was endless to see you walked in and after the event boldly walked-up to you to introduced myself and as a sharp Delta boy briefly share my vision to campaign against drug abuse in Nigeria, used a stone to kill two birds by extending an invitation as Guest Speaker for my progam that took place on the 21st May ,2010 at Methodist Boys High School ,Lagos,Nigeria.

You replied me immediately , i love your Vision and i will be there.

I kept following up with prayerful text messages though without reply from you, my feeling was in doubt and slimmer resulted me to concluded that this, na one of these Nigerian elites characterized with promise and fail.

To my greatest surprise ,30mintes to my event , Bob Dee,gave me a call and said I am close to your event Oga.

He likes to call everyone Oga. A sense of bosslessness to make everyone feel adequate around him.

My heart was merried and excited that a high profile Nigerian like him graced my occassion.

So Dele Momodu landed at the venue with shout of joy from corpers who filled the hall to the brim to welcome him with me. His reply to me after he saw the crowd was "Sunny you are a great man". Smiled and said Thank you sir. I will support this Nation building cause with the little i have, and through the Ovation media group , i have enjoyed his support ,giving media mileage to the SILEC Initiatives that have move from local to become a global brand to the glory of God and benefit to humanity.

You have given me your shoulder to stand to see further in life. Many have that same shoulder but they refused to allow such standing.

From entertainers you have helped in the entertainment industry to the common Nigerians whom you have touched their lives in one way or the other can also testify of your benevolence.

We have not started not to talk of getting there because the journey of success is a long one. For all that you have done to support me and vision ,once again i use this opportunity to say thank you in a million times sir. Your birthday is so special because its reminds me of my struggle for the good Nigeria ,and coincide with SILEC Initiatives anniversary of 15years campaign against drugs and substance abuse to rescue the Nigerian youth from drug addiction.

As you officially attain the status of an Elder Statesman today being 16th May, 2025, On behalf of my family, friends,partners, the Board of Trustees and Members of SILEC Initiatives, i join men and women of goodwill to celebrate a distinguished Nigerian of International repute, a Pan Africanist ,Pen-Tyson , Political J.J , Philantropist , Media Guru, Patriot, Socialite, Nation Builder, Role Model and a Voice to the Voiceless in our society.

On this joyous occassion where we shall be receiving former Presidents of the Federal Republic of Nigeria His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GCFR) and His Excellency Olusegun Okikiola Aremu Obasanjo (GCFR) respectively to the Dele Momodu Leadership Lecture tagged: How to End Hunger & Poverty in Africa ,is a true testament of my earlier proverbial statement as a child who have washed his hands clean, to pull these Heads of State with good State of Heads, we are thus inspired and motivated, as we learn the more from the political fathers of our time at this critical moment of our national life.

You are a beacon of hope, living legend, and an inspiration to many young people like myself.

Heaven and earth knows that you have paid your due.

"Expect God's Dew."

It is my prayers that this landmark achievement launches you to another glorious realm to accomplish all that you have dreamt.

May evil nor sorrow finds no expression in your life and family.

Multiplicity of years in good health,God's mercies and fervent Grace to enjoy your wealth, see your grand/great grandchildren.

Notice of Postponment for Stakeholders Engagement Save Our Youth,Save Our Economy Campaign.

This is to inform the public that our proposed event scheduled for on the 15th May,2025 at the American Corner Lekki Lagos, is hereby postponed for now due to the re-alignment at the state level so to allow key stakeholders settled with the new order.

We are in touch with the relevant authority of Delta state Government with their interest cm demand high to host this in delta state for wide participation across the state based on feedback received from all a sundry especially deltans, all things being equal.

The Silec Initiatives and Delta Past Students Leaders Community is committed to their ideology as consultation is ongoing to come up with robust alternative, all inclusive.

We hereby apologise for any inconviences this might have caused anyone particularly those who have registered to attend.

February 2024, i was invited to witness the plenary session of Delta State house of Assembly. That invitation provided me the opportunity to pay a courtesy call to Hon. (Barr.) Ifechukwukwu Bridget Anyafulu ,Member Delta State House of Assembly representing Oshimili South State Constituency , on behalf of the Youth of Delta State, i appreciated her for her effective legislative richness displayed constantly and for sponsoring the bill to fight open s*x and illicit drugs in the state which has been passed into law.

The Question is , What next?

Hon Bridget will be a guest speaker at SILEC+Comrades Community Stakeholders Engagement Save Our Youth Save The Economy Campaign.

Taking the step as a Son of the soil for a progressive ,drug use prevention and economic empowerment for Delta State.

Delta Past Students Leaders Community Aka (Comrades Community) Partners Silec Initiatives on Stakeholders Engagement Save Our Youth, Save The Economy Campaign. Gov. Oborevwori, Hon. Anyafulu,Onwo, Engr. Pondi, and Others to Speak.

In a swift to help address the deep rot and heightened state of drugs and substance abuse in delta state, Silec initiatives, a pragmatic non profit organisation has expressed her readiness to combat this enemy of young people in partnership with the Delta Students Leaders Community to lend their voices together in tackling in this menace.

The Founder/President SILEC Initiatives ,Amb. (Comr.) Sunny Irakpo, a renowned Anti-drug Advocate, also United States Government Sponsored Exchange Alumni of International Visitors Leadership Exchange program in combating drug addiction and the opioid crisis , Department of State, in his statement in Lagos reinterated that the issue of drugs and substance abuse amongst youths is getting out of hand and the need to constantly put the message out there on the dangers of the illicit drugs intake ,with obvious consequences should also go hand in hand.

Irakpo emphasizes that the thrust for bringing Stakeholders Engagement Save Our Youth Save The Economy Campaign with U.S Mission Nigeria (American Corner Lekki) as partners is for vision continuity to address social related issues in the country as this is exclusively for delta state based on his love for his dear state as a proud son of the soil and youth so the energetic population can be more productive to themseves ,family and the state-society , and that after carrying out baseline assessment in crimes and social vices in delta state with findings of how drug addiction is taking toe in every aspect of life of citizens of the state, necessitiated the urgent need to gather key stakeholders of the state in this present administration to revisit the issue by providing a workable solution ,unconventional approach, and template to help implementation.

SILEC who took a more proactive step to engage the leadership of the Delta Students Leaders Community to seek their whole support regarding the fight against social vices such as drug abuse which affects virtually every family in Nigeria particular in Delta state, noted that the role of the comrades community in our society cannot be overemphasized.

In a robust enagagement with the President Delta Students Leaders Community Comrade (Pastor) Akpotoboro Oghenemaro ,he lamented over the growing Challenge of drugs and Substance abuse among youths in Delta state and how this ugly situation is claiming the lives of promising youths especially in state ,and that we need to act fast to save these young generation, preserve our heritage so our state will not experience workforce deficiency and lose of brains and vibrant population to this canker worm that jeopardizes growth and development.

The President of the Delta Past Students Leaders Community Comr Pastor Akpotoboro on behalf of the Executive Council, BOT and Esteemed members of the Association appreciated the efforts of Silec Initiatives for enagaging in this very difficult but life saving and transforming initiative for almost two decades. Commending the SILEC Boss Sunny Irakpo for his doggedness ,passion and resilience and that,the comrade community where he is a member is glad to forge this partnership in order to amplify our voices with seeable results.

This second edition brings key stakeholders like The Executive Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori as Keynote Speaker, Hon.(Barr.) DRUGB ABUSE IS INCREASING (MADNESS) WITH (85%)-FACT.

You wonder why?

It's another session of SILEC e-campaign Against Drugs as we examine the above subject. This is not a scare tactice but it is a fact.
You see the above image,? Actually, no one wishes to end-up being in that street -state life but something might have caused that to happen to such an individual.

"A goat that moves or keep company with a dog will certainly eat extreta" (Isoko Proverb) . It is just a matter of time.

So it is for anyone who keeps bad company.(friends/Associates). Oh man know thyself .

Do you know that (85% )of insane individuals (Mad people ) in Nigeria are youth between the age bracket of 18-38years ? -According to the psychiatrists association of Nigeria-

This statistics should worry any individual including the Federal Government of Nigeria because as we speak ,gradually ,we are loosing our productive workforce and vibrant population as a result of drugs and substance abuse who should ordinarily contributing to the Gross Domestic Products (GDP) ,Nigeria.

The bitter truth is that mental health is increasing daily in Nigeria as a result of drug abuse and other factors. Something should be done by the government at all level to arrest this uly situation.

HOW DO DRUGS TRIGGERS THIS INSANITY AMONG YOUTH.

Many factors are responsible for this but let me highlight few points.

1. At the Point of Drug Experimentation:Drug experientation is a factor responsible for insanity.

Do You know why?

At the point of experientation alot happen to the individuals who try to use a particular drug for the first time because the human body chemistry of the individual is wired differently ,some will take that particular drug ,nothing will happen while others will take same drug and the story might not be the same.

Therefore avoid decèptive friends and environment.

Let me share a story of a 300Level student of a particular Nigerian University took an iilicit drug for the first time; that's how the drug triggered him and mental disorder started in a three storey building, this is how the boy ran and jumped unknowingly from that storey building and died instantly.

Note at the point of drug experimentation. different situation/behaviour happen at this point to the individuals. I know you could have seen some individuals on the social media spaces who took some certain illicit drugs and they were like zombis.right? Yea !.

2. Social Gathering:Many people are victims of drugs dropped in their drinks/food unknowingly to them and taking that drink trigger body discomfort and effect that have placed them in psychiatry state till today as a result of taking the drugs for the first time and in some extreme cases ,death is recorded.

Be more careful in social events especially when you eat/drink amongst people you don't know even the ones you know.

Please don't be careless with your drinks /food in social engagements if you must eat in the name of enjoyment , if you must enjoy, your eyes must be very clear not dirty.

Be vigilant and watchful.

3. At the point of Drug Addiction, insanity set in. When the body is conditioned to respond to drug intake more than food is a major sign that one is biteing more than what he/she can chew.

Drug dependence leads to psychosis as a result of prolong use many youths are in this state in Nigeria. If you doubt me, book an appointment so you come with me to visit Psychiatry Hospital Yaba ,Lagos ,Nigeria and see situation that will make you weep for the Nigerian youths. The situation is worsened that no spaces to admit drug disorder individuals as a result of the damages on a daily basis.

Please you or your ward should not be a victim. Stay away from drug use and abuse.

At this stage of drug reliance , psychological and the physical effects of drug abuse will be very obvious. A well known Nigerian artiste who is used to taking particular drugs, took same and walked from the comdort of his home unknowingly for days along a major highway/expressway in Lagos. A very long distance day and night, it took the intervention of friends and expert to rescue him to a manageable state with huge amount of money paid as cost for his addiction. "Drugs no be your mate"!

FACTORS THAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AS AN INDIVIDUAL.

To avoid triggers of Drugs.

1. Respect yourself; Know that drugs has no regard for you. So don't try it. If possible be very disciplined and modest to respectfully abstain oneself.

2. Don' t Give room for pressure,
3. Be mindful of Social Gathering that one attend; some can mar.
4. If one is already a victim ,kindly seek help early from professionals. Always available to help at SILEC Initiatives.

Healthy living is wealth.

Mine responsibility as a citizen and preventionist is to increase awareness on the dangers of drug abuse in our society.
