REVIVING AGRICULTURE WILL BE A PRIORITY FOR RURAL PROSPERITY, Dr. Awotomilusi Assures Farmers
House of Assembly Aspirant for Akoko North West Constituency II, *Dr. Niyi Solomon Awotomilusi*, has identified agriculture as a critical driver of economic revival and rural development, pledging to make farmers’ welfare and food security a core part of his legislative agenda.
Speaking during a community engagement with farmers and youth groups, Dr. Awotomilusi lamented the neglect of rural farmers who continue to struggle with poor access roads, lack of modern inputs, zero storage facilities, and weak market linkages. He stressed that Akoko North West has the land, the manpower, and the climate to feed Ondo State, but has suffered years of policy neglect.
“Our people are not poor because they are lazy — they are poor because the system has failed them. As your legislator, I will sponsor motions and lobby for state intervention in farm-to-market roads, subsidized inputs, mechanization support, and agro-processing hubs across our constituency. We must move from subsistence to agribusiness,” Dr. Awotomilusi declared.
He further promised to champion legislation that protects farmlands from encroachment, pushes for agricultural credit schemes for women and youths, and attracts state partnerships for irrigation and extension services. He noted that empowering farmers directly impacts food prices, youth employment, and rural wealth creation.
“I am not going to the Assembly to warm a seat. I am going to fight for policies that put money in the pockets of our farmers. When agriculture works, Akoko North West works,” he added.
Dr. Awotomilusi urged constituents to support his aspiration, assuring them that his track record of grassroots service and his professional background equip him to deliver results that go beyond promises.
