*DAY TWO: HAJIYA KHADIJA SULEIMAN ATTENDS NATIONAL DIASPORA DAY AWARD NIGHT IN ABUJA*

The Special Adviser on Diaspora Matters to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Hajiya Khadija Suleiman, on the second day of the 2026 National Diaspora Day celebration, participated in the prestigious Diaspora Award Night held in Abuja.

The second day of the programme was primarily dedicated to celebrating and recognizing outstanding Nigerians in the Diaspora and other distinguished individuals who have made remarkable contributions to the development, growth, and global image of Nigeria. The colourful award night provided an opportunity to honour exceptional Nigerians whose achievements and contributions across various fields have continued to bring pride and recognition to the nation.

The event was graced by the presence of the Wife of the President and First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was ably represented by the Wife of the Vice President, Her Excellency, Hajia Nana Shettima. Her presence further added significance and prestige to the memorable occasion.

The award night also brought together several dignitaries who were present during the first day of the National Diaspora Day celebration, including senior government officials, distinguished Senators and Honourable Members of the House of Representatives, ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the Federal Government, the leadership of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), and prominent members of the Nigerian Diaspora community from different countries across the world.

Among the notable personalities associated with the celebration were the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, His Excellency, Senator George Akume, CON, as well as the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, alongside other distinguished government officials and stakeholders.

The continuation of the programme provided a platform for networking, recognition, and renewed commitment towards strengthening the relationship between Nigeria and its citizens in the Diaspora. It also highlighted the immense contributions of Nigerians living abroad in the areas of healthcare, education, investment, entrepreneurship, technology, diplomacy, and national development.

Hajiya Khadija Suleiman's participation in the second day of the celebration further demonstrated her commitment to promoting Diaspora engagement and ensuring that Kogi State remains actively represented in national and international conversations concerning the Nigerian Diaspora.

The occasion ended on a memorable note, with award recipients, dignitaries, government representatives, and members of the Diaspora community celebrating the achievements of Nigerians around the world and reaffirming the need for stronger collaboration between the Diaspora and the Nigerian government for sustainable national development.

*HAJIYA KHADIJA SULEIMAN ATTENDS 2026 NATIONAL DIASPORA DAY CELEBRATION AT PRESIDENTIAL VILLA, ABUJA*

The Special Adviser on Diaspora Matters to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Hajiya Khadija Suleiman, on Friday, July 24, 2026, attended the 2026 National Diaspora Day Celebration held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The prestigious event brought together distinguished personalities from across Nigeria and the global Nigerian community to celebrate the invaluable contributions of Nigerians living abroad to national development. The celebration, organized under the auspices of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), focused on strengthening the relationship between Nigeria and its citizens in the Diaspora, while exploring ways to harness their expertise, resources, and experiences for the advancement of the country. The 2026 celebration is themed “Harnessing Global Diaspora Medical Expertise to Strengthen Local Health Systems for National Development.”

The gathering attracted a high-level representation of the Federal Government, members of the National Assembly, including distinguished Senators and Honourable Members of the House of Representatives, senior government officials, diplomats, ambassadors, development partners, and prominent members of the Nigerian Diaspora community from different countries across the world.

Among the notable dignitaries associated with the event were the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, who was represented at the event by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, His Excellency, Senator George Akume, CON. The event also provided an opportunity for Nigerians in the Diaspora, including medical professionals, experts, investors, entrepreneurs, academics, and community leaders, to interact with government representatives and other stakeholders on practical ways to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of Nigeria.

Hajiya Khadija Suleiman's presence at the celebration further underscores the commitment of the Kogi State Government to strengthening Diaspora engagement and creating meaningful opportunities for Kogites and Nigerians abroad to contribute their expertise, investments, and goodwill towards the development of the state and the nation at large.

The Special Adviser joined other distinguished participants in celebrating the achievements of Nigerians in the Diaspora and reaffirming the importance of building stronger partnerships between the government and the Nigerian Diaspora community. Her participation also reflects the determination of the Kogi State Government to remain actively engaged in national conversations and initiatives that promote inclusive development, international cooperation, investment, knowledge transfer, and sustainable growth.

Hajiya Khadijat Suleiman Kekere, the Special Adviser on Diaspora Matters to the Governor of Kogi State, warmly felicitates with Her Excellency, the Wife of the Governor, Hajiya Sefinat Usman Ododo, on the joyous occasion of her birthday.

In her congratulatory message, Hajiya Khadijat Suleiman Kekere described Her Excellency as a compassionate leader, a mother to many, and a true friend whose dedication to humanity and commitment to the welfare of the people continue to inspire hope and positive change across the state. She noted that the First Lady’s humility, kindness, and unwavering support for developmental and humanitarian causes have made her a shining example of purposeful leadership.

The Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Kogi State on Diaspora Affairs, Hajiya Khadijat Suleiman Kekere, has extended her warm felicitations to His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on the occasion of his second year anniversary in office as the Governor of Kogi State.

In a congratulatory message, Hajiya Khadijat Suleiman Kekere described the two years of Governor Ododo’s administration as a period marked by purposeful leadership, people-oriented governance, and visible strides in the development of Kogi State. She commended the Governor for his unwavering commitment to continuity, unity, and inclusive governance across the state.

The Special Adviser particularly applauded the Governor’s efforts in sustaining developmental projects, strengthening security, improving infrastructure, and fostering peace and stability, while also creating avenues for citizens at home and in the diaspora to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the state.
