❤️”Yesterday, we continued our statewide Town Hall Meetings with stakeholders of the Jechira Federal Constituency, comprising Vandeikya and Konshisha Local Government Areas.

This is particularly significant to me because Vandeikya/Konshisha is my home Federal Constituency. It is also the constituency that houses our new tertiary institution, the University of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Ihugh, a landmark institution that will drive agricultural innovation, scientific research, skills development and economic transformation in Benue.

Our engagement provided an opportunity to listen directly to our people, present an account of our stewardship and discuss what more must be done to accelerate development.

Across Vandeikya and Konshisha, our administration is delivering projects that touch the lives of our people, including:

• 52km Awajir–Oju Road, connecting Konshisha with Oju.

• 30km Branch Atser–Korinya–Wuese Road, connecting Vandeikya and Konshisha.

• 20km Mbawuar Secondary School–Bako–Tyam–Naa–Adikpo-Calabar Road.

• 14km spur to Mede-Mbera–Mbaakon.

• 5.8km NKST Anshoo–Naa Road.

• 5km Naa–Nende Road in Vandeikya.

We are also addressing rural connectivity through numerous major culverts and drainage structures across Vandeikya and Konshisha, including projects along Rivers Uavande, Ukyato, Udajo, Andider, War Shu, Jijigbe, Atum, Akpen, Utyaveteshi, Ana-Vande and Urjimea, among others.

In Vandeikya, we are constructing modern three-classroom storey blocks with ECCDE facilities, playrooms, digital and non-digital libraries, offices and stores at schools including:

• LGEA Primary School Abaki-Mbadede
• LGEA Primary School Bako Mbangur
• LGEA Primary School Adi-Akakwase Mbakaange
• LGEA Primary School Mbakunde
• LGEA Primary School Vandeikya
• RCM Primary School Ihugh

Other schools across the constituency are benefiting from classroom rehabilitation, perimeter fencing, furniture, solar-powered boreholes and other essential facilities, including LGEA Primary Schools at Agule, Ashinya, Adeiyongo, Igber, Mbaikyo, Takuluku, Yaasa, Anongu, Lagh Ningeve, Zegekwen and Tse Ako, as well as schools at Koti-East, Ihugh, Kparev Tsambe and Korsha.

In Konshisha, we are also constructing modern three-classroom storey blocks with ECCDE facilities, playrooms, digital and non-digital libraries, offices and stores at schools including:

At SSPS Awajir, we are undertaking the reconstruction and renovation of three classrooms, an office and a store, alongside the provision of furniture.

Healthcare infrastructure is also receiving attention through the revitalisation of:

• CHC Gbagbogom
• FSP Centre Idyegh
• Model PHC Tsar
• CHC Mbaagir
• CHC Ikpoikpo
• PHC Vandeikya Township
• PHC Gbem, Tsambe

In Konshisha, we are also revitalising PHC Jirgba, PHC Akputu, PHC Ubwa and PHC Igbughul.

Our water interventions are particularly extensive in Vandeikya, with solar-powered boreholes provided across communities, markets, schools, churches, health facilities and public institutions.

These include Vandeikya Township, Vandeikya New Market, Vandeikya LGA Secretariat, Vandeikya Stadium, Bako Market, Ihugh, Abaki, Mbage Nengev, Mbagbaka, Gbem, Ter Kunav, Zegekwen, Adzerashi, Mbayongo, Mbaagu Greenhouse and several other communities.

In Konshisha, solar-powered boreholes are also being provided at communities including Mbavaa Forest, Uga Mbashawa, Tse Diogo, Zember, Mhambe Forest, Aduta, Mbagile, Kyagh Baka, Orkula and Agbeede Market, as well as several churches and schools.

We are equally implementing afforestation, forest management and Tenera plantation projects across communities in Konshisha and Vandeikya to promote environmental sustainability and improve livelihoods.

As Governor, I remain committed to ensuring that every part of Benue benefits from responsible, transparent and people-centred governance.

💥”Yesterday, we continued our statewide Town Hall Meetings across the 11 Federal Constituencies of Benue State with stakeholders of the Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency, comprising Kwande and Ushongo Local Government Areas.

The engagement provided an opportunity to listen directly to our people, account for our stewardship and reaffirm our commitment to inclusive and sustainable development across the constituency.

Under our administration, Kwande and Ushongo have benefited from interventions in roads, education, healthcare, agriculture, rural infrastructure, water supply and environmental sustainability.

Key road projects in the area include:

• Construction of 23km Manyam–Unongo Village–Adikpo-GRA Road.

• Construction of 29.31km Adikpo–Koti-Yough–Vandeikya Road with a spur to Tse-Mker.

• Construction of 16.15km Ushongo–Hegha–Gbem Road.

• Major rural culverts across River Awachin at Tse-Kwange, River Uaga at Mbamaya, River Doghdogh, River Uhaa Zenga, River Usaase, River Jovember and River Ugboh, among others.

• Solar-powered facility at NKST Church, Tse-Ger, Jato-Aka.

A major milestone in our administration’s education agenda is the establishment of a campus of Fr. Adasu University in Adikpo, Kwande LGA, including the School of Engineering and Technology.

This is a strategic investment in the future of our young people and will expand access to quality tertiary education, technical skills, innovation and engineering opportunities within the constituency and beyond.

Other education interventions include:

• Reconstruction and renovation of NKST Primary School, Iyon.

• A UBE-standard three-classroom block, office, store and three blocks of ventilated improved pit toilets at RCM Primary School, Mbagbegba.

• Rehabilitation of LGEA Primary School, Torkunde.

• Reconstruction and renovation of NKST Primary School, Aku.

• A UBE-standard three-classroom block, office, store and three blocks of ventilated improved pit toilets at RCM Primary School, Orbiam.

• Reconstruction and renovation of RCM Primary School, Angwe Mbaagwa.

• Rehabilitation and renovation of UBE JSS Alumunku.

• Provision of furniture to several schools across Kwande and Ushongo.

Our administration is also revitalising healthcare facilities across the constituency, including PHC Gbe, PHC Mbakunu, PHC Gube, PHC Anyiase, PHC Ikyaior and PHC Nyihemba in Kwande, as well as CHC Adikpo-Mbaagwa, PHC Tseghem, CHC Ushongo and CHC Kartyo in Ushongo.

In Ushongo, extensive Tenera plantation projects are being implemented across communities including Tse-Agbum, Uma-Aaka, Tse-Ubo, Isha, Tse-Abanyan, Mbaibom Gbatse 1 & 2, Tse-Ivo Akerior, Mba-Tsumba, Tse-Ov, Ikogundu, Mbashakaa, Tse-Senduen and Mbaviende, among others.

These interventions are supporting environmental restoration, sustainable agriculture and improved livelihoods.

From roads and schools to healthcare, tertiary education, agriculture and rural infrastructure, our administration is ensuring that development reaches the people.

We are engaging directly with our people because their voices must remain central to the decisions that shape their future.

🔥”Yesterday, we commenced our Town Hall Meetings across the 11 Federal Constituencies of Benue State, beginning with stakeholders of the Sankera Federal Constituency, comprising Katsina-Ala, Ukum and Logo, as part of our statewide engagement with the people of Benue.

The Town Hall Meeting provided an opportunity to engage directly with our people, listen to their concerns, present an account of our stewardship and chart the path for accelerated development.

In Sankera, our administration has made significant investments in security, education, healthcare, roads, agriculture, water supply and critical infrastructure.

Among the key interventions is the ongoing 43.5km Sankera–Chito–Vaase Road, alongside the revitalisation of Primary Healthcare Centres, construction and renovation of classrooms, provision of furniture and solar-powered boreholes, rural access roads, culverts and agricultural projects.

Specific interventions include the revitalisation of PHCs at Amaafu, Sai, Ayua and Gbor in Katsina-Ala; PHCs at Ikyor, Mchia, Imande Adega and Iorza in Logo; and PHCs at Vaase, Tine-Nune, Kyado and Zagir in Ukum.

In education, we have undertaken the reconstruction and renovation of classrooms at LGEA Primary School, Abaji; LGEA Primary School, Tor-Donga; RCM Primary School, Tse-Twar; LGEA Primary School, Iwambe; and LGEA Primary School, Melabu Jootar, among others. We have also provided furniture and solar-powered boreholes to schools and communities across the three LGAs.

In Katsina-Ala, our interventions also include the construction of a three-classroom storey block with ECCDE facilities, playroom, digital and non-digital libraries, offices, store and toilets at LGEA Primary School, Takor Ikyurav-Tiev, as well as perimeter fencing at LGEA Central Primary School.

To further strengthen security, I announced the establishment of three operational military units in Sankera, to be stationed at Agu in Katsina-Ala, Anyiin in Logo and Azendeshi in Ukum. I also announced the donation of 30 motorcycles to security agencies in the area to enhance patrols and rapid response.

We are also working towards the construction of a new dam with a projected capacity of 460 megawatts, which will provide water and support electricity generation for our people.

On ranching, I reaffirmed that no ranch will be established in Benue without the consent of our people and the state government. As I stated, nobody will force us to cede even an inch of our land for any purpose.

We have also appointed three Commissioners from the Sankera area, including the Vice-Chancellor of Father Adasu University, Makurdi; the ALGON Chairman; and the General Manager of Benue Links, among others.

These interventions demonstrate our commitment to ensuring that government is felt across every community and that development reaches our people where they live.

Our commitment remains to govern with transparency, accountability and fairness, while ensuring that every part of Benue benefits from the resources of the state.

COMMISSIONER FOR INFORMATION URGES BENUE PEOPLE TO PARTICIPATE IN APC MEMBERSHIP RE-REGISTRATION, RENEW MANDATE FOR GOV. ALIA IN 2027

The Benue State Commissioner for Information and Orientation Hon. Chief Solomon Iorpev has commended the All Progressives Congress (APC) for reopening its Membership Electronic-Registration Exercise nationwide, and has called on party members, supporters, and eligible electorates across the State to key into the exercise ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

The exercise, which begins Monday, August 31, 2026, will hold in all wards across the country. Existing members are to validate their membership, while new and intending members are encouraged to register. Registrants must be 18 years and above and must possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN).

Chief Iorpev described the exercise as a timely opportunity for Benue citizens to strengthen their voice in the democratic process and to actively position themselves ahead of the polls. He urged party faithful, supporters and well-meaning residents of the State, irrespective of political leaning, to visit their designated ward registration centres, validate or register their membership, and ensure they are captured in the process.

He further used the opportunity to appeal to Benue people to rally behind the administration of His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, citing the Governor's programmes in security, agriculture, infrastructure and human capital development as reasons the mandate deserves to be renewed for a second term in 2027.

The Commissioner assured that the State Government, through the Ministry of Information and Orientation, will continue to sensitise and mobilise citizens at the grassroots to ensure massive participation in the registration exercise and in the electoral process ahead.

He therefore called on all eligible Benue citizens to come out en masse, register or validate their membership, obtain their voter's cards where applicable, and prepare to vote massively for the continuity of good governance under Governor Alia's leadership.

‎GOV. ALIA CALLS FOR COMMUNITY ACTION AGAINST INSECURITY, ILLEGAL MINING IN BENUE

‎Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has called for stronger community participation in the fight against insecurity, admonishing traditional rulers and residents against activities capable of exposing communities to criminality and violence.
‎
‎The Governor made the call yesterday during a town hall in Adikpo, Kwande local government area of the state, as he continues his statewide thank you tour of Federal Constituencies.
‎
He urged traditional rulers to take a more active role in guiding young people and confronting youth vices that could undermine peace, social cohesion and the cultural values of their communities.
‎
‎The Governor described traditional institutions as critical partners in the state's security architecture, noting that royal fathers are strategically positioned to identify emerging threats, provide useful intelligence and help prevent criminal activities before they escalate.
‎
‎He condemned the sale of ancestral lands for illegal mining in Kwande, particularly gold and other solid minerals, warning that unregulated mining was damaging the environment and creating conditions that could fuel criminality and worsen insecurity in that location.
‎
‎According to Governor Alia, illegal mining has contributed to security challenges in parts of Kwande, stressing that those involved in the practice were acting against the interests of the state.
‎
He urged community leaders and residents to protect their ancestral lands and reject activities capable of compromising their collective security.
‎
‎On security infrastructure, the Governor expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the establishment of the 5th Division of the Nigerian Army, saying the development would strengthen military operations and improve security coverage across Benue.
‎
‎He disclosed that Army units would be established in Adikpo and Anwase to enhance security presence and improve response to emerging threats, stressing however, that military deployment must be complemented by cooperation from residents, traditional institutions and other community stakeholders.
‎
‎The Governor while linking the fight against insecurity to economic development, assured the people that his administration would continue to implement programmes and projects aimed at reducing hardship and improving their wellbeing, particularly by creating opportunities for young people.
‎
‎He further disclosed that he would reach out to individuals who contested against him during the 2023 governorship election for a roundtable dialogue aimed at promoting peace, unity and peaceful coexistence in Benue.
‎
‎Meanwhile, leaders and stakeholders from Kwande/ Ushongo federal constituency, endorsed Governor Alia and President Tinubu for a second term during the town hall meeting.
‎
They attributed their support to what they described as the Governor's equitable appointments of indigenes, promotion of local government autonomy and ex*****on of development projects across the constituency and the State.

GOVERNOR ALIA GIFTED SANKERA 3 MILITARY OPERATION UNITS

GOVERNOR Hyacinth Alia has announced that the Sankera area (Katsina-Ala, Ukum and Logo) will be hosting 3 operational military units as one of the measures to strengthen security in the area.

This is even as he also announced the donation of 30 motorcycles to security agencies in the area to further facilitate general patrol and rapid responses when called upon.

The Governor made these declarations today at Katsina-Ala during a Town hall with stakeholders of Sankera political bloc of the state.

Governor Alia is on a state wide thank you tour to appreciate the All Progressives Congress (APC) members for electing him at the party primaries to fly the gubernatorial flag of the party for 2027 general elections. The Governor is using the tour to hold Town Hall with stakeholders grouped according to the 11 federal constituencies in the state.

As announced by the Governor, the location the military units will be stationed at Sankera includes, at Agu in Katsina-Ala, Anyiin in Logo and Azendeshi in Ukum.

On infrastructure and development, Governor Alia announced plans for the construction of a new dam with a projected capacity of 460 megawatts, saying the project would provide water and support electricity generation for the people of the state.

Addressing concerns surrounding ranching, the Governor assured the people that no ranch would be established in Benue without the consent of the people and his administration.

He said, "Nobody will force us to cede even an inch of our land to the pastoralist for any purpose. If that must happen, I can assure you, it will not be this time that I am still the Governor of Benue State".

The Town Hall is expected to continue across the remaining Federal Constituencies in the coming days.

GOVERNOR ALIA APPROVES APPOINTMENTS OF PSA AND GLO

Governor Hyacinth Alia has approved the appointment of Mr. Nathan Angwe as Principal Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Government Affairs.

Agwe, a retired Principal Inspector for Local Government replaces former PSA Ioryue Yajir.

He hails from Mbayange , Mbaakpough, Mbayion, Gboko LGA.

He is a retired staff member of The Bureau of local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Makurdi.

He served as Local in several Local Government Areas in the State and retired as a Principal Local Government Inspector.

The Governor also approved the appointment of Mr. Benjamin Aondonenge Ikyereve as new Gubernatorial Liaison Officer, GLO for Tarka Local Government.

Ikyereve, a holder of B. Sc Business Administration is also a former secretary to the Tarka Local Government Council.

While congratulating the two appointees, Governor Alia stated that, "your appointments as Principal Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Government Affairs and Gubernatorial Liaison Officer for Tarka Local Government, respectively, represent a recognition of your distinguished service and proven competence in public administration.

"It is my belief that drawing from your collective experiences; as a retired Principal Local Government Inspector with vast knowledge of local governance structures across the State, and as a business administrator with deep roots in local government administration, you are certainly not oblivious of your task of strengthening the critical interface between my office and our local government councils".

The Governor further tasked the new appointees to ensure seamless coordination, and to facilitate effective implementation of government policies at the grassroots level, and serve as strategic advisors on matters affecting their communities.

BENUE STATE GOVERNMENT WARNS AGAINST DESTRUCTION OF PUBLIC UTILITIES AND BILLBOARDS

The attention of the State Government has been drawn to the deliberate and wanton destruction of public utilities and billboards across the State by certain criminal and retrogressive elements bent on undermining the developmental strides of this administration.

This statement serves as an unambiguous warning: anyone found culpable of these acts of vandalism, under whatever guise or pretext, will be dealt with decisively and will face the full weight of the law. There will be no sacred cows and no exceptions.

To this end, the State Government has constituted a dedicated Task Force charged with the responsibility of monitoring, protecting, and securing all public utilities and billboards across the State. The Task Force has been mandated to work in close collaboration with security agencies to identify, apprehend, and ensure the prosecution of all persons found engaging in these criminal acts.

The Alia-led Administration reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the rule of law and to safeguarding public and private investments that continue to drive growth and development across the State.

Government wishes to assure all law-abiding citizens, investors, and stakeholders of its total support and readiness to protect their legitimate endeavors from the activities of miscreants.

Accordingly, members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and to promptly report any suspicious activity around public installations to the appropriate security agencies or the Task Force.

Let it be clearly understood that this Administration will not fold its arms while criminal elements destroy public assets and threaten the peace and progress of our State. The full machinery of government will be deployed to clamp down on such elements, and offenders will be brought to book without fear or favour.

GOV. ALIA SWEARS-IN NEW COMMISSIONERS, CHARGES THEM TO SERVE WITH INTEGRITY

Benue State Governor Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia has sworn-in seven newly appointed commissioners with a charge on them to act with integrity and always put the public interest first.

Performing the ceremony today at the Old Banquet Hall, Government House, Makurdi, Governor Alia told the commissioners that their emergence was not merely an elevation to public office, but a call to service and opportunity to contribute to the development and prosperity of the state.

He urged them to understand the weight of the responsibility they were assuming, adding that the oath they took was not to serve themselves or any particular interest group, but to serve the people of Benue State.

"Let me equally remind you that public office is temporary, but the legacies you create through your service can endure for generations" he added.

The Governor advised them to be accessible to their people, listen to their concerns, visit their villages, interact with the electorate to understand the reality on ground rather than relying solely on reports.

"I expect you to communicate, cooperate and share ideas. Where one ministry needs the support of another, provide it. Where responsibilities overlap, work together"

While assuring them of his support and cooperation, Governor Alia encouraged them to work together to build a Benue State where good governance is experienced not merely in government offices, but in the daily lives of our people.

Responding on behalf of the newly inaugurated commissioners, Rt. Hon. Nick Eworo thanked the Governor for trusting them with the responsibility to serve the people of the state as commissioners, and promised to be diligent and ensure fairness and accountability in the discharge of their duties.
