The Abuja, 17th February, 2020,Regional Training on Physical Security and Stockpile Management (PSSM). Facilitated by ECOWAS Commission in Collaboration with the government of Nigeria and support of Germany. A Training Session which was part of the effort meant to booster and sustain enhancement of the Peace and Security architecture of the region, of which at the Opening Ceremony of the Training on the 17th of February 2020 in Abuja, Nigeria, the ECOWAS Director, Peacekeeping and Regional Security, Dr. Cyriaque Agnekethom, stated that, eve though the ECOWAS Convention gave impetus to the fight against the proliferation of arms, it also seeks to control the acquisition by Member States, of Weapons through the ECOWAS exemption processes. A development which was boldly welcomed, supported and received with open arms as the Nigerian Minister of Defence who was represented by Colonel Aminu Bello Isa, in his address identified the proliferation of small arms and light weapons as one of the main fuel of tensions, conflicts, banditry, farmers-herders conflicts as well as ethno-religious unrest in the region... These if not mistaken could also be one of the major contributory factors without missing a word that propelled the unfailing passage of NATFORCE BILL. A Bill for an act to provide for the establishment of the Nigerian National Commission against the proliferation of small arms and light weapons and for related matters 2020 (SB 283) by Senator Smart Adeyemi at the proceedings of the Nigerian Senate today 19th February, 2020, which was massively supported and read the Second Time. Thereafter, The Senate President Dr. Ahmed Law an refers the Bill to the Committee on National Security and Intelligence to report in four (4) weeks. Natforce is really GOOD-TO-GO... as we are steadily pulling through the last lap of the Bill final passage for Enactment. GOD HELP NATFORCE, GOD BLESS THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA.
