Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un.
Today, i remember a man whose presence felt like shade on a hot day and light in a dark room. Alhaji Ibrahim Wali “ Gaka Wa Gaka Uba “ as I fondly call him walked among us with a quiet strength that lifted hearts and steadied lives. He listened more than he spoke, yet when he spoke, his words carried the weight of wisdom, kindness, and dignity. He was a father not only to his own, but a father-figure to many, guiding, correcting with love, and embracing with a generosity that never asked to be seen.
The door to his home and the door to his heart were open. In his company, burdens felt lighter. In his counsel, confusion found clarity. He taught by example, to give without counting, to forgive without keeping score, to honor elders, uplift the young, and respect every soul.
I find myself still reaching for my phone to tell you something, only to remember that the greatest conversation I ever had, the one with you has now moved into the silence of my own prayers.
May Allah (SWT) , in His infinite mercy, forgive your shortcomings, widen your grave, fill it with light, and grant you Jannatul Firdaus. May your good deeds weigh heavy on your scale, and may your family and all who loved you find sabr and solace.
Gaka Wa Gaka Uba, rest in peace. Your footsteps remain on our path, your blessings in our homes, and your name in our prayers.
Ameen.
