N-HYPPADEC Joins Taraba State Ministry of Environment and Climate Change for the official Launch of the Taraba State Climate Change Policy and Action Plan.

The National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC), Taraba State, joined the Taraba State Ministry of Environment and Climate Change in the official launch of the first Taraba State Climate Change Policy and Action Plan.

The landmark event brought together the Executive Governor of Taraba State, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, government ministries and agencies, traditional rulers, stakeholders, and other key partners committed to addressing the challenges of climate change in the state.

N-HYPPADEC’s participation underscores the Commission’s commitment to supporting sustainable environmental practices, climate resilience, and development initiatives that improve the lives of communities within its mandate areas.

The launch represents a significant milestone in Taraba State’s efforts to establish a coordinated framework for climate action, environmental protection, and sustainable development.

N-HYPPADEC ENGAGES VARIOUS STAKEHOLDERS IN NIGER STATE, PLEDGES TO SUSTAIN INTERVENTION IN CRITICAL AREAS.

The Acting Director of Community and Rural Development of the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC), Malam Hassan Haruna, has engaged stakeholders from various government agencies and parastatals in Niger State.

The first stop for the Acting Director was the Niger State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management in Minna, where he met with the Honourable Commissioner, Dr. Ibrahim Ahmed Inga.

He said the visit was aimed at exploring areas of collaboration and partnership to strengthen cooperation in humanitarian activities, disaster preparedness, and support for vulnerable communities within N-HYPPADEC's areas of operation.

The team also conducted an on-the-spot assessment of Dutsen Kura Primary and Secondary School in Minna, where the Acting Director was taken on a guided tour of the facilities to identify areas requiring intervention.

While addressing the school management after the inspection, Malam Haruna highlighted N-HYPPADEC's interventions under its Schools Support Programme.

He assured the management of the Commission's commitment to sustaining and expanding the programme to improve the school environment, address challenges associated with dilapidated infrastructure, and provide essential learning materials and teaching aids to Schools in N-HYPPADEC States.

In the same vein, as part of efforts to strengthen institutional relationships, N-HYPPADEC paid a familiarisation visit to the Niger State Child Rights Agency.
The visit was aimed at exploring possible areas of partnership, particularly in promoting the welfare, protection and development of children in vulnerable communities.

In addition, the Commission paid a courtesy visit to the Niger State Ministry of Women Affairs.
The visit, led by the Acting Director of Community and Rural Development, Malam Hassan Haruna, alongside the Head of the Gender Division, represented by Hajiya Rukaiya Shuibu, provided an overview of N-HYPPADEC's mandate and interventions, while highlighting the vulnerability of women and the need for stronger collaboration with the Ministry.

Discussions also focused on opportunities for additional interventions and projects that could improve the well-being of women and other vulnerable groups within the Commission's areas of operation.

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Community and Rural Development received a courtesy visit from the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) to appreciate the successful conduct of the N-HYPPADEC JAMB registration and enrolment exercise under the Schools Support Programme and to discuss opportunities for further collaboration.

N-HYPPADEC INSPECTS EMBANKMENT PROJECT AT MUYE.

The National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) has inspected the ongoing construction of an Embankment Project at the Gurara waterfront in Muye, Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State, as part of efforts to monitor the effective ex*****on of interventions across its mandate areas.

The embankment project is a critical intervention by the Commission for the Muye community, providing protection against flooding and helping safeguard homes, farmland, livelihoods, and other community assets from the impacts of rising water levels.

During the inspection, the Managing Director, represented by the Director of Finance Administration, Dr. Haruna Jimoh Gabi, engaged the contractors, consultants, and other relevant stakeholders to highlight concerns, identify challenges, and ensure that the project is delivered in line with the contractual agreement within the specified time to serve its intended purpose.

The Managing Director, National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC), Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, FCNA, FNIM, FNIIS (Katukan Yauri), featured as a keynote speaker at a One-Day Peer Review Roundtable on the Annual Compliance Scorecard, organised by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in Abuja.

Held under the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (ROLAC II) programme, the roundtable convened Chief Executives of Federal MDAs at Rockview Hotel Royale, Wuse II, to review performance on the Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS), a tool ICPC has deployed since 2016 to identify corruption vulnerabilities and drive accountability across government.

The session offered a frank, cross-agency platform for MDAs to benchmark their compliance standings, exchange best practices, and map out actionable strategies for strengthening ethical conduct in public service. N-HYPPADEC’s participation underscores its commitment to transparency and good governance in executing its mandate.

BORGU EMIRATE PRESENTS APPOINTMENT LETTER OF HASKEN BORGU TO MD N-HYPPADEC.

The Borgu Emirate Council has officially presented the appointment letter conferring the traditional title of Hasken Borgu on the Managing Director of the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC), Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, FCNA, FNIS, FNIM (Katukan Yauri).

The letter was presented to the Managing Director by Dr. Yusuf Dauda Ubandoma, on behalf of the Emir of Borgu, Dr. Muhammad Haliru Dantoro Kitoro IV, at the Commission’s headquarters in Minna on Monday.

The Emir had announced the conferment of the title on the Managing Director during the distribution of relief materials to victims of bandit attacks in the Emirate last week.

Dr. Kitoro said the recognition was in appreciation of the Managing Director’s sterling leadership, support and ex*****on of landmark projects across the Borgu Emirate and other N-HYPPADEC communities.

Accepting the appointment, Alhaji Yelwa expressed appreciation to the Emir and the Borgu Emirate Council for the honour, saying it would inspire him to continue serving power-producing communities with greater passion and dedication.
