The Q2 2024 meeting of Nigeria Public Private Partnership Network has been declared closed in Minna.

The two days event was hosted by the Government of Niger state under the leadership of farmer Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago, this brings together the public officials who are managing the Public Private Partnership portfolios of their states converged on Minna for the quarterly meeting.

With the theme: Using PPPs in Infrastructure Delivery in the States to Ensure National Food Security and Economic Growth, fifteen (15) heads of PPP agencies from 15 states attended the two day event under the auspices of Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) which facilitated the sessions.

Strengthening Partnerships: NSPPPA visits Ministry of Land and Survey

The Niger State Public Private Partnerships and the Ministry of Land and Survey are to collaborate on identifying strategic opportunities for joint initiatives that will result in broader development goals of the state along areas of the ministry's core mandate.

This development is stemming from a recent interaction between the Coordinator, Niger State Public Private Partnerships Agency Hon. Mohammed Saidu Etsu and his team when they paid a courtesy visit on the Niger State Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Barr. Maurice Bello Magaji at the Ministry in Minna.

The Public Private Partnerships Agency enthused that discussions held during tye visit is opens a new vista in its efforts to explore all viable avenues for new partnerships and collaborations in line with the New Niger agenda of Niger State Government, as outlined in the Niger policy envisioned by His Excellency, Farmer Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago, to transform Niger State into an investment hub in Nigeria.

The exchanges between Hon. Mohammed Saidu Etsu and his host also outlined areas in the diverse economic sectors where PPP projects could play a pivotal role in driving growth, infrastructure development, and job creation across the state.

Furthermore, the meeting served as a platform for NSPPPA to reaffirm its commitment to transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in all PPP endeavors.

Niger State Government and GSD Solutions to Collaborate on I.T, Infrastructure Development

The Coordinator, Niger State Public Private Partnership Agency Mr. Mohammed Saidu Etsu says the investment climate in the state has been enhanced for private investors to thrive and drive development in infrastructural development, IT advancement, e-governance, and tourism initiatives in the State.

Mr. Etsu stated this while receiving Mr. Pushkar Nanda of Global Software & Digital Solutions who was on a courtesy call to his office in Minna.

He said the Niger State Public Private Partnership Agency is exploring opportunities to leverage technology in advancing tourism prospects within Niger State. Recognizing the state's rich cultural heritage and natural attractions, NSPPPA and the visiting team discussed strategies to enhance visitor experiences, promote tourism awareness, and capitalize on digital platforms for marketing and promotion.

Led by Pushkar Nanda, Vice President of Sales and Operations, the delegation from GSD Solutions, international company specializing in business and technology consulting services says it is eager to collaborate with the Niger State Government most especially the current infrastructural drive By Farmer Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago Agenda to bring rapid development to the state.

Pushkar Nanda, on behalf of GSD Solutions, expressed eagerness to contribute to Niger State's development agenda through tailored consulting services and cutting-edge technologies. FG to partner NSPPPA on Capacity Building, Infrastructural Development in Niger State
..proposes 2024 PPP Summit in Minna

The Federal Government of Nigeria through the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission says it will partner with the Niger State Public Private Partnership Agency to enhance capacity building attract international partners for investment in critical infrastructure for the state.

The Director General of ICRC, Mr. Michael Ohiani gave the assurance while receiving the Niger State Coordinator for Public Private Partnership, Mohammed Saidu Etsu on a courtesy visit in Abuja.

During the meeting, the ICRC boss assured his Niger State counterpart of his full support in identifying partners for the state, pledging that he will support the NSPPPA through collaborations for capacity building and infrastructural support. He added that his Commission will offer technical assistance to the state agency for the facilitation of both local and international partners to provide best practices in Public-Private Partnership (PPP).

Mr. Ohiani announced his commission's readiness to support the state on technical and financial due diligence for intended partners. Given Farmer Gov. Umaru Mohammed Bago focus on transforming Niger into an industrial hub, ICRC proposed hosting the 2024 Nigeria Public Private Partnership Network Forum in Niger State, which was previously hosted by Lagos State Public Private Partnerships.

Speaking earlier, Mohammed Etsu said his visit was geared toward re-establishing a robust relationship between the ICRC and Niger State. Stating further that, the purpose of the visit was to explore collaboration on capacity building, synergy, and seek support for infrastructural development in the state.

The ICRC is the statutory body overseeing all PPP endeavours undertaken by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Mohammed Etsu Champions Inter-Agency Collaboration, Visits NNDP

The Coordinator of Niger State Public Private Partnerships Agency Mohammed Saidu Etsu, says his agency is working to foster inter-agency relationships to facilitate private sector projects and investments in the state.

To this end, and as part of the NSPPPA Coordinator's ongoing efforts to collaborate with key stakeholders in the state to drive development, he paid a courtesy visit on the Chairman of the NNDP Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha Bida, to deepen relations on the New Niger Development Project.

Mohammed Saidu Etsu, who took office recently, emphasized the importance of building strong relationships with key stakeholders in the PPP ecosystem. He highlighted the agency's commitment to thorough due diligence on all incoming projects, ensuring transparency and accountability.

He stated the agency's commitment to evaluation of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) for all incoming projects.

"We are determined to ensure that every project coming into the state adheres to the highest standards in the best interest of the state," he stated. "Our focus is to conduct integrity tests on ongoing PPP projects and to revive moribund ones."

The NNDP Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha Bida expressed gratitude, affirming the New Niger Development Project's willingness to collaborate with the PPP Agency, particularly on PPP-oriented construction projects.

Bida provided insights into the rapid progress on the Imam Abubakar Kagara International Airport, strategically located in Niger State. He underscored its significance as an apron for private jets and other noncommercial aircraft, featuring the largest cargo terminal in Nigeria, to facilitate the transportation of goods from the state’s Agricultural and Solid Mineral market.

As an acknowledgement to the opportunities arising from the state’s proximity to the FCT, the NNDP chairman mentioned the Niger State Government’s swift intervention in taking over the construction of the domestic terminal from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria to expedite the completion of the project.

The NNDP boss also mentioned the inauguration of the Bida ring road project, with compensation processes underway for affected houses. The state government's intervention aims to expand the city, acquiring over 11,000 plots of land for the envisioned Bida Smart City project.

The meeting also focused on the state government's priorities, emphasizing service delivery as both agencies work together to realize the New Niger agenda of the Farmer Governor Umar Mohammed Bago development stride.
