Tribute to the iconic Legend, Prof Mosobalaje Olaloye Oyawoye (FAS, FNMGS, FNAPE, FGSA, OON, CON, DSc. Hon (Unibadan), DSc. Hon. (Durham).

The state of legendary of an incredibly powerful Crown Prince (Aremo) of Offa, the grandson of Olofa of Offa, Oba Atoloye Adegboye, the Alade meta (a prince of Offa, Ila Orangun and Ikirun), the father of Geology in Africa, Commander of the Order of Niger (CON) and one of the best brains on the planet earth is not a bolt from the blue.

The road to stardom for the cerebral heavyweight with a world-class mind had a humble beginning as a Geological Survey Assistant at Geological Survey of Nigeria, Kaduna in 1950 after completing his secondary education from a combination of Offa Grammar School (OGS) and Ibadan Grammar School (IGS) in 1949 with an outstanding result in the Cambridge School Certificate.

The rise of our highly revered Prof Oyawoye was consolidated with his admission into Washington State University, USA, in 1952 where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology in 1955 and his postgraduate admission into the University of Durbam in United Kingdom in 1956 where he was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Geology in 1959.

As you cannot seek a good knowledge and sink, his new level of Education, Experience and Exposure opened a new career trajectory at the Premier University, University of Ibadan, from 1960 to 1977 where he wrote his name in the annals of history as he became the only oasis in the desert, the first Professor of Geology in Africa in 1966 at the age of 39 years.

Describing Baba Oyawoye as our own Isaac Newton is not tales by moonlight. His global footprints in his professional habitat have transformed Africa with incredibly record breaking feats. The Geological Society of Africa (GSA) where he emerged as the founding President and first Fellow of the Society, was a child of his brain. *_Fasting 6 Days of Shawwāl after Ramadān is Sunnah_*

📍Nabi Muhammad ﷺ said:

مَنْ صَامَ رَمَضَانَ ثُمَّ أَتْبَعَهُ سِتًّا مِنْ شَوَّالٍ كَانَ كَصِيَامِ الدَّهْرِ

"He who observes the fasts in the month of Ramadān, and also observes the fast for *six days* in the month of Shawwāl - it is as if he has observed the fast for the whole year."

📚[Sahīh Muslim 1164]

✒Sheikh Sālih Al-Uthaymīn رحمه الله‎ said:

"If you observe fast during Ramadān and *six days* thereafter in the month of Shawwāl, it is akin[similar] to observing fast for the *entire year*.

However if you *neglect* it until the expiration of Shawwāl without observing it - the reward will *not be earned* except the one with a *valid excuse*."

_The last Friday of the Holy Month is here. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: “The most beloved of deeds to Allah are the most consistent of them, even if they are few._

Whoever did istighfar (seeking the forgiveness of Allah) with his words, while his heart was determined to engage in immoral acts, and his intention was to return to vice after a month and he returned, then his fasting is rejected from him, and the door to the acceptance of the deeds is shut before him. Seek Forgiveness with utmost sincerity.

*How strange are we Muslims, we see one moon (Ramadan) and the Mosques are filled. And we see another moon (Shawwal) and the Mosques are empty again. Not returning to sin after doing acts of obedience because, the return to sin is a sign of destruction and loss.*

```I pray, may Allah Ta’ala accept all our deeds, especially the Sawm (Fasting), Qiyamul-lail, Tilawah (Reading of Qur’an), Sadaqah (Charity) in the month of Ramadan.``` *Ameen*_

*10 common mistakes people make in Ramadan. Number 1,3 and 10 are the most common.*

People make alot of mistakes during the month of Ramadan. Ten out of those mistakes are listed below so that we would try not to make it.

*1. NOT FASTING ON THE DAY OF FASTING:* This is normally happens if one finds out late that Ramadan has started. According to the Islamic scholars one should stop eating and fast for the day but has make up for that day after Ramadan.

*2.FORGETTING THE INTENTION OF FASTING:* This should be made every single day of Ramadan before the appearance of fajr without voicing it out. Shaykh al - Islam Ibn - Taymiyah said " whoever thinks in his heart that he will fast tomorrow has formed the intention. "

*3. SLEEPING ALL DAY:* some people often wastes their time sleeping for the whole day doing nothing.

*4. NOT OBSERVING SOLAH AT THE RIGHT TIME:* People normally delay observing their solat at the right time in the month of Ramadan due to some excuses which are not genuine. This act is not good and it should be avoided.

*5. EATING A LOT OF FOOD:* This normally happens when breaking the fast which prevents such people from praying Tarawih prayer.

*6. EXHIBITION OF BAD BEHAVIOR:* Ramadan is not just refraining from food; it has to do with one's behavior, controlling one's temper and badmouthing. If someone abuses the fasting person or curses him, he should say " I am fasting, and guard his tongue "

*7. DELAYING THE IFTAR:* As long as one is absolutely sure about the setting of the sun, he must not delay breaking his fast as a delayed breaking of fast is the practice of Jews and Christians.

*8. EATING SUHUR MUCH EARLIER:* It is wrong to eat suhur during midnight like 2:30am and 3:30am. This is not good at all. suhur should be taken in the time closer to the time of fajr.(between past 4am - to 5am).

*9. INTIMACY:* believing sleeping with one's spouse during the month of Ramadan is forbidden. It's only forbidden during the day but per

Comrade Ayodeji Matthew Fajoye, an aspirant for the Osun State House of Assembly, AYO'NBO, who promotes for more youths involvement in politics, has urged Osun citizens to get their PVC to vote in the re-election of Governor Gboyega Oyetola on July 16, 2022.

Comr Ayodeji, who is currently one of the leading hopefuls for the Osun State House of Assembly, Obokun state constituency seat, has advised Osun State residents, particularly his fellow youths, to register for their permanent voters cards ahead of Governor Gboyega Oyetola's re-election campaign on July 16.

He also emphasized the need of youth inclusion and participation in politics to push the state forward, holding to the fact that elections are won not on social media platforms, but rather via the use of PVCs and voting the right candidate at polling stations.

Finally, Comrade Fajoye reaffirmed his full support for Governor Gboyega Oyetola's re-election, assuring the state residents that excellent administration of ILERIOLUWA will remain abundant until 2026.
