OGU/BOLO CHAIRMAN APPOINTS COSMIC IBIEBELE SSA ON YOUTH AFFAIRS

The Executive Chairman of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Chief Vincent Nemieboka, Esq., has approved the appointment of Comrade Cosmic Ibiebele as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Youth Affairs, with immediate effect. The appointment is aimed at strengthening engagement between the council and youths, promoting effective communication, participation and youth development across Ogu/Bolo LGA, as the administration reaffirms its commitment to inclusive and people-centred governance. The Chairman congratulated Comrade Ibiebele and wished him a successful tenure in service to the youths and people of Ogu/Bolo LGA.

OGU/BOLO LGA PRESENTS 2026 SUPPLEMENTARY BUDGET, TARGETS KEY DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

The Executive Chairman of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Chief Vincent Nemieboka, Esq., has presented the 2026 Supplementary Budget before the 8th Legislative Council, highlighting additional projects and programmes aimed at accelerating development across the LGA. Key provisions include the construction of a new Legislative Chamber and councillors’ offices, renovation of seven schools, teachers’ quarters, a Council Guest House, expansion of electricity projects, and a public transportation scheme.

The Chairman said the supplementary budget is designed to accommodate projects that have commenced or become necessary after the approval of the initial budget. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to achieving 100% electrification of Ogu/Bolo, including underserved fishing communities, while buses are being procured for the proposed transport scheme. He appealed to the councillors to approve the budget in the interest of sustainable development and improved living conditions for residents.

FIRSTBANK COMMENCES OPERATIONS IN OGU/BOLO WITH FIRSTMONIE AGENT BANKING

Residents of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area can now access banking services closer to home as FirstBank has officially commenced operations in Ogu through its FirstMonie agent banking service, providing cash withdrawals, deposits, transfers, bill payments, account opening, and other financial services. A milestone widely hailed as a boost to financial inclusion and local economic development, with commendation to the Executive Chairman, Chief Vincent Nemieboka, for facilitating the achievement.

NEMIEBOKA SECURES RIVERS' COMMITMENT TO EQUIP NEW HEALTH CENTRES, CALLS FOR STRONGER PRIMARY HEALTHCARE PARTNERSHIP

The Executive Chairman of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Chief Vincent Nemieboka, Esq., DSSRS, has called for stronger collaboration between Local Government Health Authorities and the Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board (RSPHCMB) to accelerate quality healthcare delivery across Rivers State. Speaking at the official flag-off of the 2026 World Breastfeeding Week in Ogu, the Chairman highlighted his administration's major investments in the health sector and urged the Board to institutionalise greater support for grassroots healthcare services.

The event also produced a major boost for Ogu/Bolo's healthcare infrastructure as the Executive Secretary of the RSPHCMB, Dr. Chituru Adele, announced that the Board will furnish and equip the two modern Primary Health Centres currently under construction at Ele and Owuogno communities upon completion. Dr. Adele praised Chief Nemieboka as a champion of primary healthcare, while the Chairman reaffirmed his administration's commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare for women, children, and vulnerable residents through strategic partnerships and sustained investment.

OGU/B0LO COUNCIL, LIBERATION CLUB CONVENE STAKEHOLDERS' RETREAT TO CHART NEW DEVELOPMENT AGENDA FOR OGU COMMUNITY

The Ogu/Bolo Local Government Council, in collaboration with the Liberation Club of Ogu, has announced a one-day Stakeholders' Retreat aimed at mobilising traditional institutions, community leaders, professionals, women, youths, academia, social clubs, and other critical stakeholders to collectively develop practical and sustainable solutions for the growth of Ogu Community. Scheduled for Saturday, 8th August, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Alabo A. C. Iyaye Memorial Hall, Ogu, the retreat will provide a platform for dialogue and strategic planning on key development sectors, including health, education, security, infrastructure, environment, agriculture, and economic empowerment. The event will feature Chief (Sen.) George Thompson Sekibo (Etem I) as Keynote Speaker, Executive Director of Finance and Administration, NDDC, Chief (Hon.) Boma Iyaye, Esq. (Fifika Chiri V), as Special Guest of Honour, Hon. (Engr.) Arnold Davids, Member representing Ogu/Bolo Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, as Special Guest, while the Executive Chairman of Ogu-Bolo Local Government Area, Chief Vincent Nemieboka, Esq., will serve as Chief Host, underscoring a shared commitment to advancing a people-driven and inclusive development agenda for Ogu Community.
