A few days ago, I listened to the manifesto of Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, President of the DAM Foundation, and Presidential candidate for the Nigeria Basketball Federation election scheduled for Thursday, 15th October 2026.
His DUIC agenda stands for Development, Unification, Infrastructure and Consolidation. It was nothing short of track record exemplification for me.
He has transformed locations with recorded history of social vices into recreational facilities, thereby contributing to societal development and social infrastructure. These facilities have served as major drives for grassroots promotion of basketball.
The DAM Basketball Championship has brought together people from all walks of life —young and old, traditional rulers, religious leaders, public office holders, elites and locals. In a multidimensional society like ours, this is not easily achievable without the kind of interventions and programmes Dr. Mustapha has put together through the DAM Foundation. He has truly exemplified unification.
We have also witnessed Dr. Mustapha exemplify leadership with real-time impacts through various interventions, initiatives and projects on the same platform.
From the North Central (Okene, Kogi State) to the North West (Naibawa in Kano), he has solely demonstrated his DUIC agenda, and that is what makes him stand out amongst his contemporaries. If he can do it in Kogi and Kano State, he can replicate it across the 36 states plus the FCT and beyond. He has the capacity to do it.
As the NBBF election holds this Thursday, I urge stakeholders and members of the Nigeria Basketball Community to support this promising young man’s vision to lead the Nigeria Basketball Federation for the greater good and a brighter future for basketball in Nigeria and Africa at large.
As a young person who shares in his vision for a better future for Nigerian basketball, I join his millions of supporters to say .

House Leader,
Kogi State House of Assembly.
