PRESS STATEMENT
To my dearest supporters, friends, members of our great party NDC and partners in this great vision,
After deep reflection, wide consultations, and with utmost respect for the values of democracy and party unity, it is with a heavy heart but a clear conscience and an unbroken spirit, that i must inform you of my decision to withdraw from the upcoming primaries scheduled for tomorrow.
This decision was not an easy one, especially considering the overwhelming love, encouragement, sacrifices, and unwavering support you all showed throughout this journey. Your belief in our shared vision gave me strength and hope, and for that, I remain eternally grateful.
As a people committed to democratic ideals, we must continue to advocate for a stronger and more improved internal democracy within our political system. While we all understand that ours is still a developing democracy with its challenges and imperfections, it is our collective responsibility to continue building a party and nation where fairness, transparency, inclusion, and justice remain the foundation of leadership selection.
My decision to step back is a silent but powerful protest. We cannot build a new nation on old, flawed foundations.
Let me reassure every supporter and well-wisher that my commitment to the NDC remains firm, unwavering, and unshaken. I shall continue to work professionally, diligently, and wholeheartedly for the success of our great party and for the election of my principal, Mr. Peter Obi, whose vision and leadership continue to inspire hope for a better Nigeria.
This is not the end of our collective aspirations, but another step in the continuous journey of service, sacrifice, and dedication to the progress of our people and our party.
I urge every one of you to remain calm, steadfast, united, and committed to the ideals we all believe in. Together, we shall continue to work for peace, progress, justice, and a brighter future.
This is not the end of our dream to serve. Far from it.
WE HAVEN'T LOST, WE HAVE PIVOTED
WE HAVEN'T STOPPED, WE ARE POSITIONING.
Thank you for standing with me.
Signed:
Hon. Nkemakonam Olman Nwonwu
