RT HON MRS PRECIOUS SELONG JOINS SPEAKER, COLLEAGUES TO RECEIVE REMAINS OF LATE HON. IMO AKPAN IBOKETTE

The Honourable Member representing Urue Offong/Oruko State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Mrs Precious Selong, yesterday joined the Speaker of the House, Elder Udeme Otong, and other lawmakers to receive the remains of the late Hon. Imo Akpan Ibokette, a former Majority Leader and Member representing Abak State Constituency in the Second Assembly.

The solemn ceremony took place at the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Complex, Udoudoama Avenue, Uyo, ahead of a valedictory sitting held in honour of the late lawmaker.

Hon. Imo Akpan Ibokette served as a Member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly from 1999 to 2003, contributing to the legislative development of the state during his tenure.

The valedictory sitting provided an opportunity for the leadership and members of the House to pay their final respects, honour his contributions to the legislature, and celebrate his legacy of service to his constituents and Akwa Ibom State.

Mrs. Selong joined her colleagues in mourning the departed lawmaker and commiserating with his family, constituents, friends, and associates over the loss.

MRS. SELONG CELEBRATES BARR. OKON TOM OSUNG AT CALL TO BAR THANKSGIVING RECEPTION

The Member representing Urue Offong/Oruko State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mrs. Precious Selong, alongside her husband, Chief Edem Selong, joined family, friends, political leaders and well-wishers at the Call to Bar Thanksgiving Reception held in honour of Barr. (Rt. Hon. Chief) Okon Tom Osung at CEEDAPEG Hotel, Uyo.

The colourful event attracted an array of distinguished personalities, including the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency, Distinguished Senator Akon Eyakenyi, as well as prominent political leaders, legal practitioners, traditional rulers and other notable stakeholders from across the state.

Delivering her goodwill message, Mrs. Selong congratulated Barr. Okon Tom Osung on his remarkable achievement, describing his admission into the Nigerian Bar as a testament to dedication, resilience, sacrifice and unwavering commitment to personal growth.

The lawmaker paid glowing tribute to the former Executive Chairman of Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Area, acknowledging his immense contribution to her political journey. She recalled serving as Vice Chairman under his administration, noting that the leadership, mentorship and women mobilization strategies she deploys today were greatly influenced by Barr. Okon Osung's exemplary leadership.

"The qualities of leadership and women mobilization that I am known for today were nurtured under your guidance. Your mentorship has remained invaluable, and this achievement is another testimony that determination and hard work always yield rewarding results," she said.

Congratulating the new legal practitioner, Mrs. Selong remarked that the occasion was more than a celebration of earning the prestigious legal title, but a recognition of years of perseverance, countless late-night studies, personal sacrifices and steadfast commitment to excellence.

She wished Barr. Okon Tom Osung continued success in his legal career and public service, expressing confidence that his wealth of experience would further contribute to the advancement of justice, good governance and sustainable development in Akwa Ibom State.

HON. PRECIOUS SELONG JOINS HOUSE COMMITTEE ON OVERSIGHT VISIT, REAFFIRMS CONFIDENCE IN CHIEF UNO ETIM UNO'S LEADERSHIP

The Member representing Urue Offong/Oruko State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mrs. Precious Selong, on Friday joined members of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs on an oversight visit to Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Council, where the Executive Chairman, Rt. Hon. Chief Amb. Uno Etim Uno, JP, received glowing commendations for his exceptional leadership and developmental strides.

The oversight delegation, led by the Chairman of the Committee, Rt. Hon. Mfon Idung, inspected ongoing projects and reviewed the activities of the Council, expressing satisfaction with the remarkable transformation recorded under Chief Uno's administration.

Speaking during the stakeholders' engagement at the Council Secretariat, Rt. Hon. Precious Selong described Chief Uno Etim Uno as a genuine blessing to the people of Urue Offong/Oruko, appreciating Governor Umo Eno for making the right choice in supporting his emergence as Council Chairman.

According to her, the visible impact of the administration across communities speaks louder than words and reflects the Governor's ARISE Agenda at the grassroots.

"The gift of His Excellency, the Governor, to Urue Offong/Oruko in the person of Rt. Hon. Chief Amb. Uno Etim Uno is genuine. We are not mixing words. I am standing here to tell you that we are sending him back for a second term. Thank you, our Chairman. Thank you, everybody," she declared to applause from stakeholders.

Mrs. Selong noted that, as the representative of the people in the State House of Assembly, she has witnessed firsthand the Chairman's commitment to improving education, infrastructure, human capital development, youth and women empowerment, electricity, and staff welfare across the Local Government Area.

She commended the House Committee for its objective assessment of the Council's performance and reiterated her commitment to working with the Executive Chairman and other stakeholders to sustain the pace of development in Urue Offong/Oruko.

The visit ended with stakeholders unanimously expressing confidence in the leadership of Chief Uno Etim Uno, describing his administration as inclusive, people-oriented, and worthy of continued support.

MRS SELONG JOINS COLLEAGUES AS AKWA IBOM 8TH ASSEMBLY MARKS THREE YEARS OF LEGISLATIVE EXCELLENCE

The Member representing Urue Offong/Oruko State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mrs. Precious Selong, on Sunday joined the Speaker, Elder Udeme Otong and other members of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of the 8th Assembly, commemorating three years of legislative service, stewardship and impactful representation.

The anniversary celebration, themed "The 8th Assembly at 3: Stewardship, Service and Legislative Impact," commenced with a thanksgiving service at the Immanuel Methodist Church Cathedral, Itam Etoi, Uyo, where lawmakers, government officials, political stakeholders and well-wishers gathered to appreciate God for His faithfulness throughout the Assembly's three-year journey.

The service featured prayers for the continued peace, unity and development of Akwa Ibom State, as well as divine guidance for the legislature in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.

Following the thanksgiving service, the celebration continued with a reception at CEEDAPEG Hotel, Uyo, where members reflected on the milestones recorded by the 8th Assembly since its inauguration. The event also provided an opportunity to reaffirm the Assembly's commitment to people-oriented legislation, effective oversight and quality representation.

Rt. Hon. Mrs. Precious Selong, who actively participated in both the thanksgiving service and reception, joined her colleagues in celebrating the Assembly's achievements while renewing her commitment to delivering purposeful representation for the people of Urue Offong/Oruko State Constituency.

Over the past three years, the 8th Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has continued to strengthen democratic governance through the passage of critical legislation, constructive oversight of government activities and motions aimed at improving the welfare of citizens and advancing the development of the state.

The anniversary celebration served not only as a moment of gratitude but also as a renewed call for greater dedication to legislative excellence, accountability and selfless service to the people of Akwa Ibom State.
