APC Condemns Destruction of Campaign Materials in Iwo Federal Constituency, Points Fingers at Accord Sympathisers
The All Progressives Congress Iwo Federal Constituency Campaign Media and Publicity Directorate has raised an alarm over the destruction of campaign banners and posters belonging to the party across parts of the constituency, describing the development as undemocratic and unacceptable.
In a press release signed by the Chairman of the Directorate, Hon. Bisi Ogunkale, and its Secretary, Alhaji Abeeb Muyiwa Abdulamid, popularly known as Balogun Jorjor, the APC said the act represents a direct attack on the principles of peaceful political engagement.
While stopping short of a definitive accusation, the Directorate noted that the destructions are allegedly being carried out by individuals believed to be sympathetic to the Accord Party. It called on political stakeholders, security agencies, and relevant authorities to act swiftly to bring such conduct to an end.
“Politics should never be reduced to intimidation, destruction, or desperation. Democracy thrives on healthy competition, mutual respect, and the freedom of every political party to canvass support without harassment or fear,” the statement read.
The APC urged its supporters and party faithful across the constituency to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring them that no act of intimidation could silence the people’s voice or diminish the party’s growing support base in the area.
The Directorate reaffirmed the party’s commitment to issue-based politics and peaceful democratic participation ahead of the forthcoming elections.
