RT. HON. ABU UMORU OFFICIALLY JOINS APA APC WITH WARM RECEPTION
…Declares intention for Apa/Agatu House of Representatives

A prominent political development has taken place in Apa Local Government Area of Benue State as Rt. Hon. Abu Umoru, the Benue State Deputy Majority Leader, officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside a large number of his supporters.

The historic event, which held in Ugbokpo, the headquarters of Apa LGA, drew a massive crowd of party faithful, stakeholders, and residents, signaling a significant shift in the political landscape of the area.

Rt. Hon. Umoru was warmly received into the APC by party executives, elders, women groups, youths, and various support groups who turned out in large numbers to welcome him and his team. The atmosphere was charged with excitement and optimism as party leaders described his return as a homecoming and a major boost for the APC in Apa.

In a significant show of regional unity, APC executives from Agatu Local Government Area were also in attendance, alongside several PDP members from Agatu who joined in solidarity, further underscoring the growing political realignment in the Apa/Agatu axis.

Speaking during the event, Rt. Hon. Abu Umoru expressed deep joy and fulfillment at what he described as “finally returning home.” He noted that his decision to join the APC was driven by his commitment to the progress, unity, and development of Apa and its people. He emphasized that the APC remains the most viable platform to deliver meaningful governance and sustainable development.

Highlighting the achievements of the APC-led administration under Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, Rt. Hon. Umoru commended ongoing infrastructural and developmental strides across the state. He cited key projects such as the Onbaji–Agagbe Road, the construction of the Oju–Owaji Road, the Otukpo water supply improvement project, the Ado road construction, and the approval of 5km road projects in all local government headquarters across Benue State, including Apa and Agatu.

He also applauded the administration for creating employment opportunities for sons and daughters of Apa and Agatu within the Benue State teaching system, describing it as a clear demonstration of inclusive governance and commitment to human capital development.

In a bold political declaration, Rt. Hon. Umoru announced his intention to contest for the Federal House of Representatives seat for Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections. He assured party members and the people of the constituency of his readiness to provide purposeful and people-oriented representation if given the mandate.

“I am here to work with all of you to build a stronger APC in Apa. Together, we will ensure that opposition parties are reduced to nothing in this local government. Our goal is unity, development, and progress for our people,” he stated.

He further pledged to run a peaceful, inclusive, and issue-based campaign, urging his supporters and party members to maintain decorum and avoid political hostility. Drawing from his experience as a former member of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Umoru assured the people that he would operate an open-door policy, ensuring accessibility, transparency, and accountability in leadership.

“I have always believed in an open-door system of leadership, where the people have direct access to their representative. That will not change. If entrusted with this responsibility, I will continue to serve with humility and dedication,” he added.

The event was graced by notable political figures, including the Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Lami Danladi, and the Member representing Adoka/Ugboju State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Michael Audu, alongside other lawmakers and key stakeholders. Their presence underscored the importance of the occasion and the growing unity within the APC across the state.

Also in attendance were prominent leaders and stakeholders from Apa, including Elder Dan Ale, Barr. Adah Ochiloli, Engr. Garba, Hon. Emmanuel Hayaha Eigege (Governor’s Liaison Officer for Apa), Barr. Omale Omale, Hon. Ben Ekah, the Executive Chairman of Apa Local Government, Hon. Adams Ochege, and his councilors. The APC State Executives were represented, as well as the Apa Local Government APC Chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Abutu, alongside ward executives and other party officials.

Several 2027 political aspirants, APC support groups, and invited guests also graced the occasion, demonstrating a strong show of solidarity and unity within the party. Speakers at the event took turns to commend Rt. Hon. Umoru for his courage and foresight in joining the APC, describing his move as timely and strategic.

Party leaders assured him of their full support as he begins his journey toward the 2027 elections. They noted that his experience, grassroots connection, and leadership qualities position him as a strong contender capable of delivering victory for the APC in the Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency.

Women and youth groups also expressed their excitement, pledging their loyalty and readiness to mobilize support for Rt. Hon. Umoru and the APC. They described his entry into the party as a unifying factor that would strengthen the party’s structure and electoral chances.

The defection of Rt. Hon. Abu Umoru and his supporters is widely seen as a major political gain for the APC in Apa Local Government Area. Analysts believe that this development could significantly reshape the political dynamics ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly in the Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency.

As the event concluded, there was a renewed sense of purpose among APC members, with calls for unity, cooperation, and sustained grassroots engagement. The party reaffirmed its commitment to inclusiveness and development, welcoming new members and encouraging others to join the movement.

With this high-profile defection and declaration of intent, Rt. Hon. Abu Umoru has undoubtedly set the stage for what promises to be a highly engaging and competitive political journey toward 2027.

RT. HON. BLESSING ONYECHÉ ONUH HOSTS MUSLIM IFTAR IN SOLIDARITY WITH CONSTITUENTS

In a remarkable demonstration of unity, compassion, and inclusive leadership, the Member representing Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency, Blessing Onyeche Onuh, once again showed that leadership is not only about policies and projects but also about empathy and genuine connection with the people.

Out of her deep love and commitment to the people of her constituency, Rt. Hon. Blessing Onyeche Onuh recently hosted members of the Muslim community across Otukpo and Ohimini Local Government Areas at a Muslim Iftar, the evening meal with which Muslims break their fast during the holy month of Ramadan. The gathering served as a powerful symbol of unity, religious tolerance, and mutual respect among the diverse people of the constituency.

The event brought together Muslim faithful, community leaders, youth representatives, and other stakeholders who were warmly received by the federal lawmaker. It was an opportunity for fellowship, reflection, and appreciation of the values of sacrifice, patience, devotion, and peace that define the Ramadan season.

Addressing the gathering, Rt. Hon. Onuh emphasized the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence among the people regardless of religious, ethnic, or political differences. She noted that Otukpo and Ohimini are blessed with a diverse population whose strength lies in their ability to live together in harmony and mutual respect.

According to her, leadership becomes more meaningful when leaders intentionally connect with their people, understand their traditions, and stand with them during important moments that are spiritually and culturally significant. Hosting the Muslim community at the Iftar gathering, she explained, was her way of identifying with them and showing solidarity during the sacred fasting period.

She also used the occasion to call on the Muslim faithful to continue offering prayers for the peace, unity, and progress of Nigeria. Rt. Hon. Onuh specifically urged them to pray for the success and wisdom of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia, and for her leadership as she continues to represent the people of Otukpo and Ohimini at the National Assembly.

Most importantly, she appealed to the Muslim community to pray for the security and stability of the country, noting that peace and safety remain essential for national development and prosperity. She emphasized that the collective prayers of the faithful during the holy month carry great spiritual significance and can contribute positively to the healing and progress of the nation.

Rt. Hon. Onuh commended the Muslim faithful for their devotion, discipline, and prayers during Ramadan, noting that the lessons of patience, humility, generosity, and compassion embodied in the fasting period are values that the nation needs in order to strengthen unity and peaceful coexistence.

Members of the Muslim community who attended the Iftar gathering expressed heartfelt appreciation to the federal lawmaker for the thoughtful gesture. Many described the event as a reflection of a leader who genuinely cares for all segments of the constituency without discrimination.

Community leaders present noted that such gestures go a long way in strengthening unity and trust among the people. They praised Rt. Hon. Onuh for her consistent efforts in promoting peaceful coexistence and inclusiveness in Otukpo and Ohimini.

Rt. Hon. Blessing Onyeche Onuh has continued to distinguish herself as a compassionate and people-oriented leader whose approach to representation goes beyond legislative duties. Over time, she has maintained a strong connection with the grassroots through regular engagements, empowerment programs, and community development initiatives.

Her leadership has been marked not only by efforts toward infrastructural development and human capital growth but also by her determination to maintain close relationships with the people she represents. This consistent outreach has earned her admiration and respect across different communities within the constituency.

What stands out in her leadership style is her ability to reach out to people across party lines, religious beliefs, and ethnic backgrounds. By doing so, she continues to reinforce the message that leadership must serve everyone equally, regardless of political or social differences.

The Muslim Iftar gathering therefore stands as yet another testament to her commitment to fostering peace, unity, and harmony within the constituency.

For many residents across Otukpo and Ohimini, Rt. Hon. Blessing Onyeche Onuh represents a leadership model built on compassion, accessibility, and genuine love for the people. Her gesture of solidarity during Ramadan further reinforces the spirit of togetherness that the people of the constituency cherish one that transcends religion, ethnicity, and political affiliation while strengthening the foundation for a united and prosperous society.

RT HON BLESSING ONUH DEVELOPMENTAL STRIVES IN OTUKPO AND OHIMINI FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY.
.....A pass mark as a legislature and the need for continuity

Development is often best measured not by promises, but by the tangible improvements people experience in their everyday lives. In many communities, especially in developing areas, simple but strategic infrastructure can make a significant difference. This is currently being witnessed in parts of Otukpo and Ohimini Local Government Areas of Benue State, where several streets are benefiting from the construction of culverts facilitated by Blessing Onyeche Onuh, the Member representing Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.

For many residents, drainage challenges have long been a recurring problem. During the rainy season, streets become flooded, erosion threatens homes and roads, and access to certain areas becomes difficult for motorists and pedestrians alike. Poor water channels often accelerate the deterioration of roads, leaving communities with damaged streets and costly repairs.

Recognizing the importance of addressing these issues, Rt. Hon. Blessing Onyeche Onuh has facilitated the construction of culverts across a number of strategic locations within the constituency. The aim of the intervention is to improve drainage systems, control erosion, and ensure that rainwater flows properly without damaging surrounding infrastructure.

Culverts may appear to be small structures when compared to large bridges or highways, but their impact is significant. They form an essential part of road infrastructure, allowing water to pass beneath roads safely and preventing the kind of flooding that often weakens road foundations.

In communities where drainage systems are inadequate or completely absent, the presence of properly constructed culverts can help preserve roads for many years, while also protecting nearby homes, shops, and farmlands from water damage.

Several streets within the constituency have benefited from this project. Among them are Alechenu Anthony Street, Ben Onaji/Echono Street, Okopi Onyilo Street, Amoda Road in Ohimini, Atakpa Road Junction in Ohimini, Egwa Avenue, Makurdi Street connected to Agila Street, Adija Ogwu Street, Ogiri Oko Junction by Kana’s Line, Kenji Line Ampia behind the Rice Mill, Sunday Onyilo Street, David Stone by Agidi Close, Amos Itikpo by Ojobo Street, Moses Enenche by the Transformer, Japan Street, Suleja Street, and Moses Enenche Street.

For residents of these areas, the construction of culverts is more than just an infrastructure project. It represents relief from persistent flooding and an improvement in their daily movement around their communities.

Many residents have expressed optimism that the new drainage structures will reduce the damage that heavy rainfall often causes in the area. Roads that were once vulnerable to erosion may now last longer, while businesses located along these streets can operate without constant fear of water damage.

Beyond addressing immediate environmental concerns, the intervention also highlights the importance of responsive representation. Constituents often expect their elected leaders not only to participate in national legislation but also to facilitate projects that directly improve local communities.

Observers say that such interventions are important because they demonstrate the practical side of governance. While large-scale national policies remain important, the everyday needs of communities such as roads, drainage, schools, healthcare facilities, and electricity are equally critical.

In Otukpo and Ohimini, the construction of these culverts has therefore been seen by many residents as a step in the right direction. Infrastructure that may appear modest in scale can still have a wide-reaching impact when it addresses specific community challenges.

Development experts often note that sustainable infrastructure begins with proper drainage and erosion control. Without effective water management, roads deteriorate faster, public funds are repeatedly spent on repairs, and communities remain vulnerable to environmental damage.

By improving the drainage system through the construction of culverts, the project contributes to protecting both public and private investments within the affected communities.

Furthermore, the project reflects a broader effort to enhance the quality of life within the constituency. Reliable infrastructure makes transportation easier, improves sanitation conditions, and supports local economic activities.

For traders, transport operators, and residents who rely on accessible roads for their livelihoods, improved drainage can translate into smoother daily operations.

Community leaders have also noted that such projects encourage greater public confidence in governance. When constituents see visible improvements within their neighborhoods, it reinforces the belief that public representation can deliver practical benefits.

As the people of the constituency continue to monitor ongoing development efforts, expectations remain high for additional interventions that can further transform communities across the area.

For Blessing Onyeche Onuh, supporters say the project represents another example of her commitment to attracting development to the constituency she represents.

Across Otukpo and Ohimini, the newly constructed culverts now stand as visible reminders that effective representation can translate into practical improvements on the ground.

As the rainy seasons approach in the coming months, residents will be watching closely to see how the improved drainage systems perform.

But for many people living along the affected streets, one thing is already clear: when leadership pays attention to community needs, even modest infrastructure projects can make a meaningful difference in the lives of ordinary citizens.

And in the end, development is truly measured by how well it improves the daily experience of the people it is meant to serve.

New Year Message from Hon. Philip Oyinu Haruna to the People of Benue South (Zone C)

As the New Year dawns, Hon. Philip Oyinu Haruna extends warm greetings and heartfelt best wishes to the resilient and peace-loving people of Benue South Senatorial District. He describes the New Year as a season of renewed hope, fresh possibilities, and collective resolve to build a stronger, more united society despite the numerous challenges confronting the land.
Hon. Haruna salutes the unwavering determination of the people of Benue South to continue living together in peace, harmony, and mutual respect.

According to him, the strength of the zone lies in its unity, cultural diversity, and shared commitment to peaceful coexistence. He acknowledges that the past years have tested the resolve of the people through insecurity, economic hardship, and social pressures, yet they have remained steadfast, choosing dialogue over division and cooperation over conflict. This, he says, is a rare virtue that must be preserved and strengthened.

Reflecting on the future, Hon. Philip Oyinu Haruna reassures the people of his total commitment to their wellbeing and the economic development of Benue South, should he be given the mandate to represent the zone at the National Assembly as Senator. He emphasizes that leadership is a sacred trust that must be exercised with sincerity, accountability, and a genuine passion for service. His vision, he explains, is anchored on people-centered legislation, purposeful representation, and strategic advocacy that will attract meaningful development to the zone.

He outlines his resolve to champion policies and bills that will stimulate economic growth, support agriculture and agribusiness, empower youths and women, and improve access to quality education and healthcare. Hon. Haruna notes that Benue South is richly endowed with human and natural resources, and with the right representation at the national level, the zone can unlock greater opportunities for investment, job creation, and sustainable development.

Hon. Philip Oyinu Haruna further assures all clusters, communities, and interest groups across the senatorial district of a strong sense of belonging in his leadership. He promises to run an open-door policy that will make governance inclusive, transparent, and participatory.

According to him, the office of a senator should not be distant from the people but accessible and responsive to their needs, concerns, and aspirations. He stresses that his desire is for the people to truly “own” their representative through constant engagement, consultations, and feedback.
He calls on traditional rulers, community leaders, youths, women, professionals, and elders to see the New Year as an opportunity to deepen unity and strengthen collective responsibility in building a better Benue South. Hon. Haruna believes that meaningful progress can only be achieved when leaders and the people work hand in hand with mutual trust and understanding.

In conclusion, Hon. Philip Oyinu Haruna calls for prayers as the people step into the New Year. He urges everyone to seek divine intervention in the fight against all forms of evil confronting the land, including insecurity, injustice, poverty, and disunity. He expresses confidence that with faith in God, commitment to peace, and purposeful leadership, Benue South will overcome its challenges and move towards a future of stability, prosperity, and shared progress.

He wishes the people a peaceful, prosperous, and fulfilling New Year, filled with hope, good health, and renewed strength to pursue a greater Benue South for all.
