I am thrilled to announce that Anambra East, in collaboration with the Anambra State Ministry of Health, The State primary health care development agency and other partners, will be hosting the official launch of the Free HPV Vaccine Program for Anambra State tomorrow, May 28th, at 10:00 AM! The wife of Mr Governor will be Live to chair this occasion.

This is a momentous occasion, not just for Anambra East, which has consistently been recognized as the state's leading local government in healthcare delivery for the past year, but for all of Anambra. The HPV vaccine is a critical tool in the fight against cervical cancer, a preventable disease that affects far too many women.

By making this vaccine accessible and free, we are taking a significant step towards safeguarding the health and well-being of our mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends. This program aligns perfectly with the foundation my administration has laid, prioritizing healthcare for our people.

I warmly invite the entire Anambra East community, and indeed, all Anambra citizens, to join us for this landmark event. Let's come together to celebrate this life-saving initiative and learn more about how the HPV vaccine can protect our loved ones.

ANAMBRA EAST CHAIRMAN HIGHLIGHTS AI'S POTENTIAL AT ONITSHA ARCHDIOCESAN COMMUNICATION WEEK

Dr. Anselm C Onuorah, TC Chairman of Anambra East Local Government Area, served as the Father of the Day at the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha's conference, marking the opening of their annual Communication Week.

The 2024 theme, "Artificial Intelligence and the wisdom of the heart: Towards a fully human communication," prompted engaging discussions about harnessing AI's potential for positive societal impact. Distinguished speakers addressed the conference, dispelling common misconceptions surrounding AI that are frequently circulated on social media.

Dr. Onuorah expressed his appreciation to the organizers and the Archdiocese for hosting this important event. He emphasized the significance of such programs, particularly for the youth, who can learn to approach AI advancements with a balanced perspective, integrating human values into technological progress.

Mr Chairman concluded by encouraging young people in attendance to explore Mr Governor's Solution Innovative District initiative. This program offers a valuable platform to develop sought-after skills and empower them to build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.

ANAMBRA EAST TC CHAIRMAN VISITS FLOOD-PRONE SCHOOL, PLEDGES SUPPORT.

In a surprise visit today, Dr. Anselm C Onuorah, TC Chairman of Anambra East Local Government Area, arrived at Community Secondary School, Umuoba-Anam. This visit aligns with the local government's "Edu-boost" project, a key initiative within its Solution Integrated Development Plan (Soludtion ICDP). The project directly reflects the emphasis on education outlined in Mr governor's manifesto, underscoring a commitment to improving learning opportunities across the region.

Community Secondary School, Umuoba-Anam, faces a significant challenge – its riverside location makes it particularly vulnerable to annual flooding. During these events, classrooms and school buildings are submerged, forcing a complete halt to classes and displacing students to temporary shelters or internal displacement camps (IDP camps).

Dr. Onuorah used this meeting to address the school directly, highlighting the imminent threat of flooding as predicted by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (Nimet). He emphasized the importance of preparedness and assured the school of the local government's unflinching support. Beyond expressing his commitment, Dr. Onuorah took a proactive approach, utilizing the visit to assess the school's specific needs. He promised to find solutions that will mitigate the impact of flooding and ensure continued learning for the students, minimizing disruptions to their education.

ANAMBRA EAST TC CHAIRMAN TAKES INITIATIVE ON DRAINAGE CLEANUP

The TC Chairman of Anambra East Local Government Area, Dr. Anselm C Onuorah, announced a significant desilting project to improve drainage systems across the region. This initiative aligns with Mr Governor's Manifesto and the local government's plan for a clean, green, and sustainable Anambra East under their Solution Integrated Development Plan (ICDP)

For over 20 years, clogged drainage systems have plagued Anambra East communities, causing flooding after heavy rain. Recognizing the negative impact on public safety and sanitation, Dr. Onuorah emphasized the project's importance.

"Those days are over!" Dr. Onuorah declared in a statement. "This project will ensure rainwater flows freely, preventing flooding and keeping our streets safer."

The Chairman's commitment extends beyond initiating the project. He further conducted a personal inspection to ensure its effectiveness. Dr. Onuorah highlighted the importance of community involvement in maintaining clean waterways.

"A clean Anambra East takes all of us," he stated. "While we're desilting the drains, let's all commit to keeping them clear. Avoid throwing litter in the streets, and if you see something that could block the flow, let the council know. Together, we can make a real difference."

This desilting project signifies Anambra East's commitment to environmental sustainability. The local government, under Dr. Onuorah's leadership, is taking concrete steps to achieve the goals outlined in Mr Governor's Manifesto and their own development plan.

Residents of Anambra East can expect cleaner streets, improved flood prevention, and a more sustainable community as a result of this initiative.
