GOVERNMENT OF RIVERS STATE

PRESS STATEMENT

MY DECISION TO WITHDRAW FROM THE RIVERS STATE GUBERNATORIAL PRIMARIES

Fellow Rivers People,

After deep reflection and extensive consultations with my family, friends, and associates, I have taken the difficult but necessary decision to withdraw from the APC gubernatorial primaries. I do so with a full heart and with a firm commitment to support whoever emerges as the candidate of our great party.

Leadership is ultimately about sacrifice. There comes a time when personal ambition must yield to the greater good of the people. Rivers State is bigger than any individual, and at this critical moment, the peace, stability, and unity of our dear state must take precedence over every personal interest.

To my supporters who stood firmly with me throughout this journey who gave their time, resources, prayers, and unwavering hope, I offer my deepest gratitude. I understand the disappointment, the anger, and the pain many of you may feel. Much has indeed been invested and much sacrificed along the way. But please know that your loyalty and trust were never in vain. My silence over this period was deliberate and strategic, guided always by the higher interest of our state and our people.

As our elders say, not everything a hunter sees in the forest is spoken of in the marketplace. Some truths are best borne quietly, not out of fear, but out of wisdom and restraint for the sake of peace and a greater purpose. It is enough to say that I have faced immense pressures and difficult choices, but my love for Rivers State remains greater than anything else.

I sincerely thank our great party, the All Progressives Congress, for the platform and support extended to me throughout this process. I also express my profound appreciation to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his support and encouragement.

The APC remains our collective home, and I urge all party faithful and supporters to remain steadfast and committed as we continue to build a stronger and more united future together.

Let it be clearly understood that I stepped aside from participating in the upcoming River’s state Gubernatorial election not out of weakness, fear, or surrender, but out of conviction and sacrifice so that Rivers State may move forward in peace and unity and I remain committed to serving the good people of Rivers state till the end of my term.

Thank you, and may God bless Rivers State.

Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS
Governor, Rivers State

PROGRESSIVE GOVERNORS PASS VOTE OF CONFIDENCE ON GOV. HOPE UZODIMMA
..vows to ensure Tinubu's reelection

The Progressive Governors Forum ( PGF) has passed a vote of implicit confidence on its Chairman, Senator Hope Uzodimma and his vice, Gov Uba Sani.

The vote of confidence, which was moved at a closed door meeting of the governors in Abuja, was reiterated at a press conference they had later on .

Kebbi State Governor, Dr Nasir Idris, moved the motion and was seconded by his Kaduna State counterpart, Alhaji Uba Sani.

The second motion after the press conference followed a reporter's question about the rumoured removal of Uzodimma as Chairman of the PGF.

Dr Idris explained that more than 23 governors in attendance at the Abuja meeting reiterated their confidence in Uzodimma to lead the forum.

According to him, the fact that Uzodimma presided over the meeting with his vice was enough evidence to authenticate his leadership.

While advising the media to be circumspect in the stories they publish, Dr Idris urged them to always confirm the sources and veracity of their information.

Also speaking, Uzodimma assured that the PGF was united and would not bother itself with fake news.

He told journalists that the APC governors were currently occupied on how best to work for the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

"As you are aware, just yesterday, we accompanied His Excellency Vice President Shettima to submit the nomination forms of President Tinubu signifying that he is recontesting. We just had a meeting to reaffirm our unflinching support to him", he said.

Uzodimma said the forum has decided to support Tinubu 100% to achieve his reelection and therefore would not submit to any kind of distraction or blackmail

According to him, their support for Tinubu was borne out of his pragmatic reforms which had put Nigeria on the part of economic growth while strengthening her infrastructure.

He asked Nigerians to appreciate the president's sacrifices by ensuring his reelection so that he would complete the beautiful work he had started.

🚨 POLITICAL SHIFTS IN RIVERS STATE – ALL EYES ON APC STRATEGY

President Bola Tinubu, before departing the country, is reportedly said to have issued a clear directive to the APC screening committee led by Governor Hope Uzodinma:

👉 Only candidates aligned with Siminalayi Fubara’s camp should scale through in Rivers State.

If this is anything to go by, then APC is clearly tightening its structure ahead of future elections and consolidating around Fubara’s political direction in Rivers.
In simple terms: “Na who Fubara points, APC go carry.”

This development is already being viewed as a major political signal in Rivers State and a potential shake-up of existing power blocs.

It also raises fresh tension in the state’s political space, as influence battles continue to reshape alignments ahead of 2027.

📌 Alleged remarks attributed to Hope Uzodinma also added more heat to the matter:

“When I started national politics, Wike was still in Obio-Akpor. I came back from Abuja as a ranking senator, contested governorship against the wish of an incumbent, came 4th position, won in court and today I am still the governor, leading all other governors in the ruling party.”

Further claims from the report suggest Uzodinma is confident about APC’s direction in Rivers, allegedly insisting that the structure is now being realigned for stronger control going forward.

Meanwhile, political observers say this move, if confirmed, is a direct power recalibration in Rivers politics, with influence lines being redrawn.
🔥 Rivers politics no be ordinary again… the game don enter next level.

👉 But the big question remains: Can Wike’s political structure still withstand this new alignment and Fubara’s rising influence within APC circles?
