The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Rivers State Office, today, Tuesday, 2 June 2026, convened a Senatorial District Stakeholders' Meeting at Bori, Khana LGA as part of preparations for the forthcoming Rivers South-East Senatorial District Bye-Election scheduled for Saturday, 20 June 2026.
In his address, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Johnson Alalibo Sinikiem, reaffirmed the Commission's unwavering commitment to conducting a free, fair, credible, and transparent bye-election. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among all critical stakeholders and called for their continued support and cooperation to ensure a peaceful and successful electoral process.
The REC further disclosed that the bye-election will be conducted across 1,629 Polling Units located within 88 Registration Areas (RAs)/Wards in the Rivers South-East Senatorial District. The Senatorial District comprises seven Local Government Areas: Andoni, Eleme, Gokana, Khana, Opobo/Nkoro, Oyigbo, and Tai.
He assured participants that the Commission remains fully prepared to deliver an election that reflects the will of the people.
