Official Handover: ABIA NEWMAP's New Era Begins!

"We are pleased to announce the successful handover of the Abia State Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (ABIA NEWMAP) to our new Project Coordinator Mr Ikechukwu Ukaegbu, who would lead the new Abia- Nigeria Climate Adaptation- Erosion and Watershed Project (ABIA NEWMAP EIB).

After outstanding years of leadership, Engr. Izuchukwu Onwughara has formally transferred the reins to Mr Ikechukwu Ukaegbu . This milestone marks a new chapter in our quest for sustainable environmental management and community development.

We extend heartfelt gratitude to Engr. Izuchukwu Onwughara for his dedication and strategic guidance. Your legacy will continue to inspire our team.

With great Joy, we welcome our New Project Coordinator Mr Ikechukwu Ukaegbu to the NEWMAP TEAM.

2022 WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY IN PICS_

Safety at Construction Sites is paramount to NEWMAP.
In line with the above, Abia NEWMAP organized a Health, Safety and Environment Training for Contractor workers for Aba Flood Mitigation Work.
Participants which include Contractor workers and Site Committees of Umuagbai & Uratta Communities were trained on EFFECTIVE WASTE MANAGEMENT AT CONSTRUCTION SITES, GENDER BASED VIOLENCE/ SEXUAL EXPLOITATION AT WORK PLACE, GREVISNCE REDRESS MECHANISM, ENVIRONMENTAL/ SOCIAL SAFEGUARDS & SAFETY ISSUES AND COMMITMENT whereas they were enlightened on the ENVIRONMENTAL/SOCIAL MANAGEMENT PLAN in NEWMAP.
The activity loaded programme had resource persons drawn from the Abia NEWMAP SPMU, Contractors,
Consultants and the Academia.

With the commencement of the year, 2021, Abia NEWMAP has geared towards another year of bountiful harvest in implementation of Projects. The recently concluded State Steering Committee/ State Technical Committee/State Project Management Unit Retreat just sealed it up. Review of 2020 activities and Preview of activities for 2021 plus Gray areas in the Project formed the high points of the Retreat. A tour round project sites at the Coal City added tonic to the Retreat. We roll out the drums....... the pictures say it all.
