๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ CELEBRATING NIGERIA AT 66: MY MESSAGE TO THE PEOPLE OF ETIM EKPO

Yesterday, I joined the good people of Etim Ekpo to celebrate Nigeriaโ€™s 66th Independence Anniversary at the Utu Etim Ekpo Township Stadium.

It was a beautiful gathering of our people โ€” government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, youths, students and residents โ€” united by our shared love for Nigeria and our collective hope for a greater nation.

I was particularly encouraged by the patriotism, discipline and talents displayed by our pupils and students during the march-past and cultural presentations. Their enthusiasm reminds us that the Nigeria we desire must be built by investing in our young people and giving them the opportunity to thrive.

As we celebrate our nation, I urge our people to continue to uphold peace, unity and peaceful coexistence. Development at the grassroots can only be sustained when government and citizens work together with a shared sense of responsibility.

I commend His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, for his leadership and for the impact of the ARISE Agenda across our communities. At the local government level, we remain committed to supporting programmes that advance education, youth development, social cohesion and the overall wellbeing of our people.

To all Etim Ekpo people, thank you for making the celebration memorable. May our beloved Nigeria continue to grow in peace, strength and prosperity.

Happy Independence Anniversary, Nigeria! ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ

Yesterday, I joined other stakeholders in Etim Ekpo to witness the commissioning of the Youth Development Centre, one of the 31 centres established by the Akwa Ibom State Government across the State under the leadership of our dear Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD.

For me, it is particularly encouraging to receive the State Government in Etim Ekpo for the third major project commissioning within one month. This speaks to the Governorโ€™s commitment to ensuring that the ARISE Agenda is felt at the grassroots.

I urge our young people to take full advantage of this opportunity. The Centre belongs to them, and I encourage them to embrace the training programmes, acquire relevant skills and turn their talents into sustainable livelihoods.

I remain grateful to Governor Umo Eno for his continued attention to Etim Ekpo and his unwavering commitment to youth development. Together, we will continue to support initiatives that create opportunities and improve the lives of our people.

Yesterday, I joined our people at Utu Nsekhe/Utu Ikot Eboro for the commissioning of the ARISE Model Primary School, another landmark project delivered by the administration of His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD.

For us in Etim Ekpo, this is another demonstration of the Governorโ€™s commitment to taking quality infrastructure and development directly to our communities. Within just a few days, we have witnessed the commissioning of multiple projects across our Local Government Area. Indeed, Etim Ekpo has been a major beneficiary of this season of commissioning, and we are deeply grateful.

I sincerely appreciate our dear Governor for remembering Etim Ekpo and for ensuring that the ARISE Agenda is felt at the grassroots. We will continue to support his administration and work together to consolidate the gains already recorded.

Today, I had the honour of receiving the Torch of Unity for the 2026 Akwa Ibom State Sports Festival at the Etim Ekpo Council Secretariat.

For me, this is more than a ceremonial relay. The Torch of Unity represents peace, togetherness and the collective strength of our people, while the Sports Festival provides a valuable platform to discover and nurture talents across our communities. I commend His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, for this initiative and his commitment to using sports to unite our people and empower our youths.

As a Council, we will continue to invest in youth development and create opportunities for our young people to thrive. I am confident that our athletes will proudly represent Etim Ekpo and give a good account of themselves in Uyo. I therefore call on our people to support and encourage our contingent as we join the rest of Akwa Ibom in celebrating sports, talent and unity.

On Thursday, I joined other dignitaries including the Deputy Governor, Senator (Dr) Akon Eyakenyi and other stakeholders at Obong University, Obong Ntak, for the commissioning of the 2.1km internal road project delivered by the administration of our dear Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD.

For us in Etim Ekpo, this is more than a road within a university. It is an important intervention that improves access, strengthens connectivity with surrounding communities and creates better opportunities for the movement of people and agricultural produce in an area known for its rich oil palm production.

I sincerely appreciate Governor Umo Eno for extending his people-oriented development agenda to Obong University and demonstrating that development should reach every institution and community, regardless of ownership.

On behalf of the good people of Etim Ekpo, I thank our Governor for this intervention and for the many other projects and programmes touching lives across our Local Government Area. We remain grateful and committed to supporting his vision for a greater Akwa Ibom.

I equally thank our Grandson and Minister of State, Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. (Obongemem) Ekperikpe Ekpo who not only represented the Governor but also announced the donation of a solar-powered ICT Centre for the University.

As we look towards 2027, we will continue to stand with Governor Umo Eno and the All Progressives Congress because we believe in continuity, stability and the consolidation of the gains already recorded.
